Apparently the majority of the launcher is part of the Google Search app, which you already have and it's the latest available.
You just need the GoogleHome.apk stub to enable it. It's over here (ignore the other files): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2506488
LifeHacker explains the whole thing: http://lifehacker.com/how-to-get-the-google-now-launcher-on-any-phone-running-1568796521
I just did it. Not sure if I'm gonna keep it though.
Thank you. I kinda like the clean look but couldn't find a way of having notification badges or unread sms/email counter. Any ideas how to?

In Nova Launcher, the rendering is handled by the launcher, with MissedIt! as an optional provider. I think the launcher has to support it. You could do it with widgets that look like icons using standalone MissedIt. Otherwise you can try KK launcher which can do unread counts. But the problem with that is the Google Now integration doesn't work with other launchers, so it's not really the same as GEL.

I tried about 9 different launchers and really felt most comfortable with LiveHome. Not only did it squash Bing it gave me options to make it as simple or complex as I wanted it. Instead of pissing and moaning about the long wait for Froyo .. I decided to make my Fascinate bearable until then.
isnt that LauncherPro?
No it is LiveHome .. I mean it works pretty much exactly like LauncherPro .. Better drawer options, built it task manager, icon manager and it will load ADW themes ..
You work for LiveHome?
No I do not
Sounds like a sales pitch to me lol

I don't run anything with a built in task manager if I can help it.

It's alright :/ Animations aren't quite as smooth as they are on LP or ADW... but the desktop transition effects are pretty damn sweet. I'll stick with what I had before.
They just took ADW.Launcher and changed it a bit. ADW EX is much better than this. Me, I'll stick with LauncherPro Plus.
google search still goes through bing right?
I installed the apk posted in another thread .. I think it tells the Google widget to route to Google in the browser .. not sure .. but it works ..

Um...huh? That's like saying the Ford assembly line is producing Chevys. Google search is Google search.
And btw, why did the OP need to use that specific launcher? As far as I know, any launcher other than the stock Touchwiz one will allow to put the Google search widget back on your homescreens, as soon as you remove the Bing apk file and install the Google Enhanced Search apk that was ripped from the Vibrant ROM. At that point, the search softkey and voice search is all Google again, with any launcher other than Touchwiz.
The only other problem is that the search function in the stock browser still uses Bing, which no launcher will change, but there is a de-binged browser apk available as well, or you can install a third party browser. There are many browsers that are infinitely better than the stock one, regardless of search engine preference.

Either you be co operative enough to share the installation method, or don't post at all..
That's so selfish if you just post without sharing the way and methods.

Here you go: http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2013...real-apps-running-on-the-samsung-galaxy-gear/
To put it simply, enable USB debugging, connect the device to your computer using a cable, and then use ADB to install apps/push content to your device
Here's the apk for the free version of smart launcher https://www.dropbox.com/s/pjakgpyyj3che69/ginlemon.flowerfree-1.apk

Request - Keyboard video
I'm not ready to start pushing apps to my watch but I had a request for someone that did.
I'm wondering if someone can install the Fleksy keyboard & duplicate this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MkXW2-uGezs by typing in well..any app just to show off typing on the watch.
Thanks to anyone in advance.

I haven't tried their keyboard in a while, but I didn't remember freezing issues. Assuming we can eventually get something like sms working, wonder which keyboard - if any - would really be practical for a watch. If not Fleksy - wondering about Minuum or Snapkeys or Flit or something.

when searching in ES File Manager I use google keyboard and its working great so far. I cannot wait for my Omate TrueSmart to arrive, hopefully it will have a perfectly running fleksy keyboard that we can pull from the watch and run on the Gear.
On another note, I got the Fleksy keyboard loaded on the watch, but am having a hard time enabling it, there is no true Android Settings on the watch to change input.
Going to play around with ES File Manager and see if I can manually set it keyboard.
I tried smart launcher briefly, but ended up going with nova and deleted SL.
I have used Nova Prime forever in my phones (after trying every launcher available including the ridiculously overpriced POS Next Launcher)
I decided Nova was the best launcher for the gear watch also.

I tried Nova first, but with the last of widgets its kind of hard to see what time it is.
Once we get a custom "ROM" on here I will go back to Nova, until then SL is working pretty well

Well. I use the stock TW launcher for everyday use as I like the clocks etc. you get from TW.
I switch to Nova when I will be doing more app switching......
So far I've tried Apex, GO, Nova, ADW, and Smart Launchers, and I'll be sticking with Smart. It's the only one that keeps the clock on the home screen. Loaded UP Icons as well and have been using those.
Now if only I could figure out how to get the Pro version of Smart Launcher on the Gear. I purchased Pro for my Note 3, but can only export the Smart Launcher Pro folder from the Note 3, and can't drop that back into the Gear. Any ideas? Would like to toy around with some of the features (mainly the other color options).

You may need to move it to system apps
i installed the GE launcher and is not working FYI
Do you have your gear connected to bluetooth internet?
Nop, do I need it for the GE launcher?

out of curiosity, why would you even want to try it? it's in early stages, with barely any customization. can't even change icon easily. i'd recommend sticking to verified apps like nova. works without issues.
For the voice search
no it is not working... i mean... launcher is working fine, but voice search like OK GOOGLE is not working... tired everything... only working solution for voice search is google voice search https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.voicesearch
.... but you wont get voice feedback an no auto listening like in g.louncher (OK google..btw realy awesome featur)... if someone has working solution please share....
Hello I have 2 calendar apps in my app drawer (both Google). One of them seems to have the AOSP calendar app icon and the other the Play store icon which can be uninstalled as well. But the thing is I never really downloaded the calendar app from play store andy Moto X is 100% stock so how is this possible? Anyone else experiencing this?
Well mine came just with the AOSP one. But either way it doesn't really matter.
You can always just delete the Google one if it bothers you. Otherwise I would recommend the one from Google because it gets regular updates.

Hey,
I see lots of people has been asking about google now in there launcher and many people knows that how to solve it without magisk.
There is workaround which i want to share may be it helps somebody.
First you need to install nova launcher prime which you can get like from anywhere just google it and then install a small app called google now companion app which is only supported by nova.
there is also a magisk version available of companion app but it is for those who just dont have root and magisk so by this you can have google now without having google now launcher and you will get google now integrated to the best launcher.
Thank you.
And sorry for bad english.

you just double tap the screen and it goes into google now or you go into settings and put it on a different gesture. as standard swipe down opens evie launcher but i switched that to expand notifications so now it works like the built in launcher, swipe down anywhere to open notifications. you may also want to switch off launch assisstant on home button or use it for something else if you are using gesture navigation as the last thing you need is more ways to launch assisstant lol. you could put the google now on that though then you can swipe up for home and swipe up again for google now.
Exactly. The most valuable real estate on a phone is the home screen because you can go directly to an app with one touch. The second most valuable real estate is the screen to either side of home and if you have a paged dock, the dock to either side. By using a swipe to the feed you wipe out an entire screen of the second most valuable real estate on the phone just to access one app when you can get to that same app by simply tapping a 1X1 icon, using a gesture, etc. I never have figured out why people like the swipe to feed, it wasn't done for us, it was done because Google has research that showed most people will not venture further than one screen left or right of home. Make one of those the feed and they knew they would up their take. In terms of user interfaces it's a straight up loss for users who in no way benefit from the loss of that screen for one app. But whatever.
Lots of launchers have a feed swipe BTW, if you absolutely insist on making your phone less efficient by wasting that screen you don't have to limit yourself to Nova.
