Totally wiping storage - Motorola Atrix HD

Ok When I switch ROM's I notice I have alot of files and folders left over from previous ROMS. Is there a way to completely wipe the internal Storage and install a custom ROM from my micro SD Card?

I believe that custom recovery like CWM or PhilZTouch can do a full wipe.

In recovery, go to mounts and storage, and select format /data AND format /data/media (/sdcard).

Odin re-partition

I have a question. That Re-Partition option delete your photos, music and videos e.t.c?
I believe it does. You might want to move anything important over to an ext SD just to be safe...

Via recovery if you have a CWM: wipe data, wipe cache and wipe dalvik cache
Via PC you may format SD card..when you flash a ROM with Odin you wipe the internal sd

"Full" Wipe

It seem CWM full wipe isnt enough, it left the data in sdcard and root. How to "clean' up totally and safely. If possible I dont want to mess with the repartitioning maybe some full format would be nice. Any guide from experienced user...thanks

If you are on safe kernel you can wipe/format sd card by following these two methods :-
Go to Settings>Storage>Format SD Card (Internal)
oR
Reboot in CWM Recovery
Go To Mount & Storage
Format SD Card (Internal)
Hope it helps
Cheers!!!

this will full wipe
*2767*3855#
recommended only if you are on GB OR ICS with safe kernel.
Root will not still remove, you need to reflash Stock ROM(recommended GB) with PC odin to unroot.
on cwm and safe kernel.
Take out out external sd card
wipe factory, cache and dalvik
Then in mounts format everything except efs. Phone wont boot but will boot recovery and download mode.
Put external back in and install zip, or pc odin your prefered way. With regular pitfile if switching GB or ICS.
Cleanest way possible to my knowledge.
When not switching and on safe kernel dr ketans way is the way.

Can't wipe internal memory?

So I'll boot into Safestrap recovery and I can install ROMs, wipe cache, all that, except I can't wipe internal memory. It just says something along the lines of 'can't find volume'. Anyone got a fix for this?:crying:

im sure theres an option for that in the actual memory settings on the phone. or you can mount the internal and external sd and just format on the computer
It is best by using root explorers. Root into your internel memory and wipe unwanted datas easily ...

You don't have to change any default settings in mount storage in cwm. It'll not change any performance lag.
Get rid of the lag by a clean and proper flashing.
If you are using cwm5.5.0.4 you cannot install zip from ext sd card. Try a newer version of cwm for that.

You said your ext sd card is not recognizing in your laptop.? Then change it.
If you have a Rom file already in internal sd card, flash it properly. Do a full data wipe, wipe cache, wipe dalvic cache. Then flash the zip, flash gapps.

One alternative if you don't have a file in internal sd card and you can't get an ext sd card at the moment, try push the ROM file via adb.

[Q] How to format the internal sd card correctly

Hi,
I'm using a HTC one, which is rooted, s-on, unlocked. I'm also using maximus hd 13 rom.
I want to completely reset the content on the internal sd card. I already tried to format the card via cwm wipe and during aroma installer using full wipe. But afterwards my sd card is still not clean, all the stuff from before is still there.
How can I get rid of those sd card content?
thanks in advance,
Chris
Well I can tell you from experience that it's a lot easier than I thought it would be. I actually use TWRP and what I do is install the Rom I want...then format the sd card in recovery and reboot. It's that simple..at least for me. Now for cwm I think there's the option for to format sd..not just wipe..but I can't remember the setup off hand...I'm thinking the process would be exactly the same

Hi,
I've installed maximus 13 an hour ago, doing all wipes I found
I also use the factory reset in the android settings.
At the moment I'm looking for format options in cwm and I found the following in "mounts and storage menu":
- format /cache
- format /data
- format /sdcard
- format /system
- format /external_sd
- format /data and /data/media (/sdcard)
should I try these options? If yes, all of them? In which order?
I can't imagine that it could be so difficult to get your sd card clean

okay, I've done so and it looks good. Do I have to reflash the maximus rom now or is it possible just to reboot the phone and everything will work fine?

Just reboot. U should now have a clean storage.
The others (system and data) would wipe your Rom and user apps.
