[Q] SD card :(

Hey guys. Today i decided to treat my X8 by buying a 8GB class 4 micro sd card to replace the stock 2GB micro sd card...all went well ! Within half an hour i copied & pasted everything out of my old card and into the new. That is until i tried to play some songs when i found that none of my songs appear...AT ALL ! Then i tried going into gallery. Same thing !!! I need help with this cuz i don't want to know that i wasted all that money on something that doesn't work T-T
P.S. : Running GDX V21, Alfs kernel V04. I've tried formatting it and THEN pasting the files from my old card. Still the same
P.S.P.S : By "my" X8, I mean my friends one which, in a few days or weeks will be mine

mayb u got a corrupt sd card?

open file explorer in the phone and look if there is something on the card. if you see all your folders and files, try to reboot your phone or install this from the maket.
if you don't see the files on your sd card, try to format the card from the settings in phone, not with pc

crap...my sd card was also damaged ..it says sd card is damaged please format it...my heart broke ..4gb worth of pics , songs , videos GONE

there might be 2 solutions that I know:
1) Sdcard or the files may be corrupted. - Try to format the sdcard and put just one picture(a picture that you can view without any problems on pc) and see if you can view it.
2)nomedia - make sure there isn't any ".nomedia" file in the root of sd card or check in the folders where your music is store.

I tought so too but the problem with that theory is i can still see those files thru root explorer and even titanium backup still works

I'll try that....I've also tried formatting via phone...still nothing

ok so formatting doesn't do any good no matter how i format it...

try again with ur 2gb card and if dat works and the 8gb dnt? den the card is corrupted
btw i thot of upgrading my sdcard to 16gb too,my concern is the recovery folder, shud i copy the folder into the new card like any normal folder copy paste and will it work?

You can try formatting your SD card from your computer, maybe it helps.

Use the pc. There 2 types of format. FAT AND ntfs. Have you tried both? Also try quick and the regular one.

I've full wiped and reflashed gdx v21...it works thnx guys for all your help !

get a card reader and try it with your computer if those files are really important... you could also try one of the many data recovery tools.. just google it..

Guts, i find this problem happens when i flash the update vold+chargemon.zip if i don't it's ok....is there any workaroun ? I cant connect Mass Storage if i don't flash it

Ok...after ALOT of experimenting i finally pin pointed the prob....i used this app called Rescan Media Root...they say that every boot is slow because yr phone is scanning all the media files (Media Scan)...if you disable it, it'll speed up boot time ! But what happens in my case is it disabled the scanning, forever...so it never bothered to scan the sd card for my media files :S...after i reenabled it, it worked !

try to format ur sd card to this low formatting tools

Reflash rom. Full Wipe. If still not working return the sdcard back to the shop.

SD Card problem on my Xperia V fw 140

Hi excuse me. I'm using Xperia V with FW 140. I'm using SD Card SanDisk 32 GB class 4. I have a problem with my SD Card on my XV. I'm always restarting my phone and sd card prepared fine. But, unfortunately....I got an message 'SD Card unexpectedly removed' until now SD card get lost as unmounted and missing.
Any solution ?

Yes, I tried

Xperia T or TL users may have experience this. Their phones are known to kill SD Cards. Try connecting your SD Card without your phone.

my XV has this kind of problem and my partner also have same problem too, XV have killed your SD card and your SD card may not able to be read in ur PC too, either u need to exchange a new SD card (of course change with under warranty) or go without using SD card. i have no idea why it can happen, 1st SD u use in XV may have this kind of problem, 2nd SD (new) inserted to XV will go fine.
(not sure whether it is a bugs or not)

I had a corrupt sd card in my V. I put it in the PC, it asked me if I wanted to format it and I said no.
Then I ran chkdsk -F on it, and it fixed everything and saved all my files.

hmm, mine 1 totally not able read the corrupted sd card, so change under warranty

Maybe my issue was slightly different. On my V, the message was "Damaged Sd card" and it would not mount on the phone.
On the computer, when I plugged in the Sd card and tried to navigate to the drive, the computer would only prompt me to format it. I couldn't view any files.
But I could say "no" to the prompt, open command prompt, and from c: run chkdsk on the sd drive.

my sdcard now completly unreadeable , both from PC and phone ...

i tryed to clean it and restart phone but stila nothink not even recognized by pc so And helpful advice i would be grateful to know is it possible to make it work on xperia z before i go search for new one thanks

If you put it back in the old Sony Ericsson is it recognised? If it is you could try formatting it with the Sony Ericsson if it has the option.

Change Format (better to do it with Linux )
For example format it to ntfs then format it to FAT32
:good:

If you are on a 4.2 ROM, then backup all your data, format the microSD to exFAT (don't use quick format) & then restore your data.
4.2 android supports exFAT.

You need to use a card reader.
I forgot to mention that.
Connect it via the card reader to the PC then use Disk Management in Windows to format the microSD card.

Well its not recognized when i connect it to the pc via card reader either thaths what i meant by not recognized
by pc sry

It was only recognized by the old sony ericsson and it worked well there but its broken now so is the card useless now or and as much as i
remember the card reader came with the card so no reason why it wont recognize it either so weird

Hi.
It happened once with me... I think the mobile was broken, but the problem was with the card.
Maybe your good old Sony Ericsson is not broken, but your card can be the culprit.

Can't use my Micro SF card

Hello , I 've buy few days ago a new memory card of 32gb for my Sp and I can't use it . Indeed , I can copy etc from my PC it's class 10 card but when i can't with my phone that detect the card but I can't transfer or read the file as mp3 . If i open the memory card i find some strange files i think some corrupt files . I have format with my phone and also with my computer but the problem persist I don't know what to do ... That work on computer when I use with the adapter micro sd but when i put on my phone ...
I'm using the ROM Exitenz .

Try format card via recovery. Always worked for me.
Try remove partition and make new one as well. Then format it from phone.

I think you won't need the CWM-apar, just the format using your phone

You could also try repairing your phone with SEUS...
It would be better to see if stock can manage your sd card or not

He has already did it with no success.
I had similar issue on som roms on LG GT540.
I inserted card into card reader. Remove partition. Make new one and format it from phone.
Try change filesystem from FAT32 to exFAT. Can also help.

My phone work well only with Sd card it had problem . I have format with recovery anythhing changer when i try to transfer music with my phone to my sd card that say the transfer is broken i don't know why I have format with my pc in ex fat after i put in my phone and format anything change .
But i don't know how to remove a partition of a SD card ?

Theres a lot software for making/removing/changing partitions. In win XP is also in Computer Managment an option where you con check for existing partitions, making it, or remove. I dont know if there is similar software on other windows (I dont use it ) Just use google and some brain.
Did U used MTP (Multimedia) Mode or MSC (Memory) Mode?

I have test but i can't copy that freeze i don't now why it'ss very strange sometimes that work but sometime not it's aleatory .

I don't think so that work perfectly on camera , only sometimes in my SP that doesn't work .

It could be a software issue.
If you go to a service center(I don't know how's it called I live in greece )

I haven't other sd card just i have test this card on my photo camera and computer ...

Borrow from someone ot sth. Than you will know of that sdcard is broken or its sth with your device.

SD Card access

Hi!
My P10 is in VTR-L29C432B180.
I've got an SD card mounted.
I can't access to it in write mode.
I gave the permission needed but I always fail to delete files from SD card. I tried many different tools without success.
Is there something special about SD card?

Read only.... It's not P10 related but does anyone know how to format it?

Try gparted live for your PC. This is a bootable linux live version for formatting file systems. There can be a corrupted sector or something else wrong with your sd.
Try to initialize a new MBR and format the sd to FAT32.
If this worked, try the sd on your P10.
If this still doesn't work, your sd card is corrupted and maybe not repairable.
