Hi there, I've been a happy milestone user since February, but I recently started feeling that the low memory available (and locked bootloader) on it was kinda holding back the whole "android experience" (I know that thanks to the devs here the stone performs as good as the hardware can, a lot better than what a 256mb of ram would lead you to believe) so I went ahead and got an European hd2 (I don't live in the US, so I´ll get 3g on it just fine) the thing is that the HD2 hasn't yet arrive, and now I´m kinda having second thoughts, as what I first considered on the HD2 as an advantage (the whole, multi os thing) may in fact, be a weakness, because it may be faster than the milestone running android, but it probably won´t be as stable and that may again, hold me from getting the best from android, to be honest I've owned an htc tilt(which I loved to the point I'd flash it several times a day almost everyday and also put android on it), a touch pro 2 (Sprint version, flashed the bytes out of this one too, put android on it as well) both winmo phones had issues when running android (constant data corruption, battery life, etc) then I got the milestone and it's been performing rock solid to this day and I just want to know if you guys think I did the right thing from an "upgrading" point of view. thanks
ps: I sold the stone, I'll be delivering it to his new owner :-(
maybe
well..it all depends on what you want out of your phone. When I had my milestone I did consider the hd2.
If you want a multimedia phone the HD2 will destroy the milestone. More ram, bigger screen. It also runs miui better than the milestone so widgets dont die and your browsing experience will be better.
The touchscreen is the same with tru multitouch. not the like the nexus 1.
However if you want to use the phone for gaming quite frankly they both suck. The milestone I found when i had it had the gpu to play the latest games but not enough ram. However it has a qwerty keyboard so gba, snes emulators worked well. Also gamevill games like zennonia and destinia works great on the qwerty.
But then again the HD2 isnt much better. The bigger screen is nice and so is the 512mb of ram. However it is cursed with an adreno 200 gpu which is marginally slower the the sgx530 found in the milestone. The adreno 200 simply isnt going to cut it for any graphically demanding game. Even NOVA 1 lags slightly. You can forget about dungoen defenders on the HD2. though having said that chainfire does do HD2 drivers which seem to boost 3d performance a lot.
So basically yes from milestone to hd2 is an upgrade. sort of. HD2 has an unlocked bootloader so you can get custom kernels.
what i would recommned you to do if u get the hd2 is to install miui, install an undervolting kernel d then use a media player like rockplayer (software decoding) for video formats the the system player cannot play. Do that and you basically have an evo 4g which is one of the best phones of all time but sadly not available in the UK
Don't fret. I'm writting this from my touchpro 2 running xandroid (2.2 is what I'm using, 2.3 is out but buggy in beta). I haven't booted into winmo for actual use in months, and current uptime is almost a week. Android on winmo is much more stable than it used to be, batery performance is closer to what it should be. Bluetooth can still be a little funky (so I've heard, I don't use it), but hey, camera and and sound are rocking good now! Clocked at 600 MHz, performance in an active app is similar to what I see on my droid. Actually loading apps is much slower, I'm guessing because it is reading it from the sd rather than nand. But once loaded it is all good. I think you'll be happy with the HD2.

Galaxy SII
Why dont you try the Samsung Galaxy SII.. that has shown to have improved performance over HD2 and many other multicore processor phones and even has a better GPU...
Also again if you really need a new phone, thats completely a personal choice..
Even thought the RAM on milestone is limited it is good enough for daily basic use for browsing light games and avi videos etc...
But if you wanna play high demanding 3d games you gotta move on..
Also Milestone does not play HD videos smoothly.. tried everything to make it do this...
Its totally upto you... you have the cash, you have the interest go for it,
Also try not to fall in te marketing trap of these mobile companies where every new phone is branded as a must have and a zillion times better than your old one..
The final question is do you really need it.
Thanks all for your comments.
@thre3aces: yes, I know about the poor performance the HD2 gpu has when compared to the milestone's gpu, but I figured that a bit more of ram and processor horsepower would help the adreno 200 gpu a bit, although I am not expecting anything spectacular from it, I'm planning to play a few games, but what I really want is a smoother experience from my phone and judging by the youtube videos I've seen, when it comes to the GUI, the HD2 perform almost as good as a Desire HD if you don't try to push it too far anyways, so overall I think that I can live with a worse gpu performance as long as the rest performs better.
@cbeck:
I'm glad the TP2 is still going on strong, I loved that phone, best full physical qwerty keyboard on a phone ever.
@lord_neo: I'm on a tight budget right now, I sold the Milestone for $147 and got the HD2 used for $200, for that's a fair price for a mildly used HD2. And even if I could afford the SG2 I wouldn't buy as I don't like the feel of the phone on my hands, it's too slim for my taste, I admit it is a beast of a phone, though and the screen is awesome.

Yea so if ur gonna be trying to play dungeon defenders or nova 2 u will be fine with a hd2. Just a hint if u r gonna get it 2nd hand id recommend getting a new battery for it. Chances r since the hd2 is an old lone tags battery in it is probably very worn out

Dear HTC HD7 users,
I'm on the verge of buying another phone. I'm currently owning a Samsung Captivate. I've had this telephone for 9 months, but it is getting on my nerves. I have to reset my phone every 2 weeks and sometimes even each week. My power button is broken and my speaker doesn't work well. I'm getting sick of Android's lags and force closes on this phone.
I was very pleased to see WP 7.5 Mango and it's smoothness. I have some questions:
- Is WP7.5 really that stable and smooth on the HD7?
- How is the HD7 itself?
- Have you encountered any problems regarding the phone?
- Was WP7.5 much of an improvement compared to WP7.0?
- Is the HD7 S better than the HD7?
- People who own this phone 9+ months, are you still happy with it and haven't you experienced any issues so far?
- Finally: Could you please tell me why I should buy this phone instead of buying another Android phone?
Thanks for reading!

1. Yes stable and smooth, even faster after installing Mango (7.5)
2. HD7 looks nice and slim, though the hardware buttons can be improved (a bit flushed, not easy to press). Camera is just ok and not the best
3. No problems so far
4. Yes, WP7.5 is so much better, features and functionality wise (>500!).
5. I believe HD7s has better screen (SLCD vs LCD)
6. Yup, still very happy with the phone, esp now that it was updated to Mango.
7. Smooth, radical UI, live tiles, not laggy (unless u buy the latest high end droids), People hub (all contacts info taken from FB, LinkedIn and Windows Live and see updates per contact or everyone's social updates that u can switch between Twitter and FB feeds), Messaging (U can quickly switch between FB Chat, Windows Live and Texting for each contact on one conversation), Music Hub, X box live, 25Gig free SkyDrive, and not app-centric (as mentioned, mostly integrated so you dont need to open seperate apps to view diff contents). Cheap as well since this is a 1st gen model.
I suggest looking at HTC Titan in case you have more budget: better screen (competitive with super amoled+), has FFC, faster processor, slimmer and better build.
I've swapped over temporarily from the gs2 to see how windows phone 7 feels. Before that, I owned an iphone 4. (I'm trying to familiarize myself with the different phone platforms) The GS2 and IP4 were a true joy to use. I personally preferred the Gs2 for its "openess". One example that comes to mind is when I was looking for an ereader that could read my ebooks to me. On the IP4, this was only accomplished by turning on the accessibility option for blind users. Unfortunately, this also removed all the ease of use associated with IOS. The voice was also very robotic and was unbearable to listen to. On my android device I simply installed an ereader that used the built in tts service. It allowed me to control voice reading right from inside the app. Lastly i could just go to the market and find a replacement voice for the text to speech service. I really missed the high res screen from the iphone 4 though .
ANYWAY back on topic, I really, really, really like windows phone 7 operating system . The layout, dialer, keyboard, and apps just shine. Everything is easy to access and looks great too. However (and this is a BIG however), the os lacks apps. Its got a few gems but no where near as many as you might be used to. If you are looking for a phone that is a true joy to use for calling, texting, surfing the web, connecting on social sites, and maybe playing a few games then I think this is the OS for you.
But, I can't in good conscience recommend the HD7. Keep in mind that the 2nd generation windows phones are just around the corner. The HD7, I've found, has sub-par battery life and a poor camera. To give you an idea of battery life, your captivate supports up to 10 hours of talk time while this phone does 6.
Hopefully, this aids you in your decision making process.
Thanks for the replies, this has definitely gotten more interesting. I know the 2nd generation WP7.5 are around the corner, but I really want a HTC and I saw on phonearena that the hd7 was very high rated. The Titan looks amazing, but this would be my first time trying a Windows Phone and I if I don't like it, I would've paid too much money. Ive bought my captivate in March and it would be over the top to buy 2 new phones in a year, as in spending that much money on just a phone.
My captivate's battery life is horrible I even switched batteries and still I have to charge my phone twice a day,it is a real pain. I really don't care that much about a camera. I know the WP Marketplace hasn't got many apps yet,but I'm not a person who needs 100 apps on his phone. I know WP is a new kind of OS and I have patience with it.

It is a Good phone if you just wanna try out WP7
Other wise the main problem you will find is the battery life which wont last even 12 hours if you are a heavy user and its a heavy phone which you will notice if you use it for long periods
If you have used android you will love Wp7 as you can do almost all things faster in Wp7 then you did on android.
WP7 is the best for email and social apps
The good thing is that WP7 comes with almost most of your social apps (facebook twitter etc built in) and you will find most apps u need in market place (although its still a long way from android or IOS marketplace)
I kinda hover between the SGS2 and HD7 but use more SGS2 cause the battery dont last on the HD7 and I find google products more useful (maps, google plus, translate etc) then bing then WP7 offerings.
Probably might go for a Nokia WP7 next year as Dual core is touted for Wp7 next year and I really need a good camera phone like the SGS2.

Speed test on T-Mobile 3G using my HD7, tethered to my laptop via USB, on speedtest.net. Location was Seattle, WA, indoors but with 5 (max) bars. Multiple locations within about 200 miles were tested, each a few times:
Average download: ~5.0 Mbps (+/- 0.3 Mbps).
Average upload: 2.1 Mbps (+/- 0.2 Mbs).
It's not 4G, but it's a quite solid 3G. I can easily stream Zune Pass music or watch 480p (resolution of the phone, no point going higher) YouTube videos. In a pinch, it works fine for tethering too (slower download but actually faster upload than my home DSL).

Some of the HD videos look phenomenal on this phone.
I sent my Samsung Captivate for repair to the USA, after I received it, I'm going to buy the HD7 (I can get money for my captivate at Vodafone ) or the HTC Titan if I can find it cheap(not going to happen I think....)
Some points-
1. I had the hd7 for a year and I dont have a single complaint.(I was a Windows Mobile user, X1) and that says a lot about the OS.
2. Everything U did on Android, now will be 3x as fast.
3. like someone mentioned, the mails and office work happens in a blink
4. Music UI is mind blowing. It couldn't get better
5. Battery life, yes. This area needs a little work. But again, hey, its a smartphone and it's worth it. Charging it twice a day will be a ritual.
6. Don't even want to mention the camera. Its mediocre... :[
7. Social networking is beautifully integrated.
8. Screen resolution, yes, can't compare it with SAMOLEDs and AMOLEDs...u will be disappointed.
9. Live tiles rock. Buti have started to miss having the wallpapers in the background.
10. Dual cores, quad cores etc is all a myth. WP7 so smoothly without them, I don't know what will happen when we get 1
Currently, I am eyeing the Droid Razr...the Droid imagery is far too powerful for me to ignore it...but that doesn't mean I will ditch my WP7...
Now its upto U...wait foe the Nokia WP7...its amazing...front facing camera is a miss in HD7...
2 times a day battery life? On my battery thing it says
"last charge 1 day ago,"
"Time left on batter 1 day 3 hrs."
How is the battery so bad? Also I agree at first I didn't like it because of how closed it was but after playing with it for a while it does everything pretty easily and smoothly. I also like how slacker is able to be paused/skip through the lockscreen ...although ban/like and the artist picture would have been a nice addition.
So the resolution isn't that good ?
I just got mine today, second hand via Marktplaats.nl (dutch ebay), and i think the resolution is very good! its an upgrade from an htc wizard with a qvga screen, so yeah, but i like it. you can come take a look at it, depending on where you live
I bought my HD7 the first month it was available. This summer I picked up a Sensation 4g. Both are on TMOUS. I rooted and flashed dozens of custom roms to my Sensation.
My wife now uses my Sensation and I am happy to be using my HD7. I have flashed a custom rom onto it, but that wasn't necessary. I just like doing it. The phone runs super fast. I don't even miss my 4g. All that did was help me hit my soft data cap faster so I would be throttled.
If you're worried about battery life, pick up an Ankor 1350mah replacement. It bumped my battery life between 25-50%. The stock battery from HTC is crap.
Somebody offered me a nokia lumia 800. Should i accept it? I mean it has 1.5GHz Qualcomm single-core processor and everithing else like the o 2X has exept the 5mp camera. What Do You THink?
Lumia has a 1,4Ghz CPU. And it's running WP7.5
Lumia 800 has a slightly smaller screen (3.7 inches) than Optimus 2x (4.0 inches).
And where did you read that Optimus 2x has a 5 mp camera?
But honestly, I'd recommend you to stick with O2X, at least until we get a stable CM10 (if you're rooted) or the official ICS update rolls out

It's not just the Bluetooth - the complete lack of an accessible file system in WP7.5 (and probably Wp7.8) means that you can't transfer files between a PC and the phone unless the PC has Zune installed (a la iTunes). And if you want to transfer files off the phone to a computer you don't own, and you can't install Zune on it, you're SOL. And if you want to connect the phone by USB to most stereos, the stereo won't be able to read the music files. This is a huge flaw that even BB7 and Symbian lack.
in other words, if you use your phone like a flash drive, avoid both WP and iOS like the plague.
WP8 Apollo addressed this flaw, with full UMS support, so if you're dead set on a Windows Phone, I'd recommend going for a WP8 model.
On a side note, the presence of an accessible file system in WP8 bumped it from a "fat chance" to a "maybe" on my future purchase list. While it's not as open as I'd like, I respect the fact that WP is somewhat "unified" in that OEMs aren't allowed to put awful skins on it, and that the specs are somewhat constant across the board which makes updates easier to optimize for a wide range of devices. If Android were to do this, it'd really be perfect.
I like lumia but i cant buy because have no money. Or else you gonna gave me free lols. Thanks if there someone gave is.

Use common sense and you'll realize that the O2X has pretty much everything you need from a phone.

Official support doesn't matter if the support doesn't deliver functionality.
As of 2012, unmodded Android 2.2 (or even 2.1) is far more capable than WP7.8, and definitely stomps any version of iOS. Yes, it's nice that even the iPhone 3GS receives at least part of the iOS 6 update. But if that update doesn't bring its capabilities in line with the two-year-old Froyo, then what's the point?
Yes, the Lumia has awesome hardware and aesthetics, and if the aesthetics are a big selling point for you, fair enough.
Another caveat to watch out for - with WP7.5 and probably 7.8, the multitasking implementation is TERRIBLE. Their method of hibernating apps means that 3rd party apps that use push notifications are unable to function properly - you need to keep reopening the app every few hours to prevent it from "deep sleeping" and thus being completely unable to receive notifications. So if you open whatsapp once, then close it for a day or so without reopening it, any new messages you get after will never be received until you reopen the app manually. To be fair this method allows for good battery life and prevents the phone from lagging, but for those who rely on IMing this is unacceptable.
In other words, if you're a heavy user of Whatsapp, Google Talk, Facebook chat, etc then even Blackberry 7 is a better platform than WP. I did read that WP8 has proper multitasking so the problem may be solved there, but hey, it ain't coming to the old Lumias.
You don't have to be a "power user" (i.e. the kind who likes flashing custom ROMs) to benefit from the openness of Android vs WP or iOS. The issues of an inaccessible file system and poor multitasking affect everyone, not just us CM-obsessed types.
Btw, here's something ironic: Microsoft designed the Sync infotainment system in my car, which can read music off a USB device if the device is either Apple or it has an accessible file system. The only smartphone OS that can't connect via USB happens to be WP7, made by Microsoft.
edit: I hope you don't think I'm trying to badmouth WP as the devil... I acknowledge it has its strengths, and anyone who's comfortable with iOS, will be right at home with WP. However, someone who's used Android custom ROMs, is probably a different demographic and I'm just pointing out that WP isn't exactly suited for it, even less so than BlackBerry.
And old lumia after 1 update microsoft drop their support for it but in xda as long as their is important codes release by RC it keeps evolving and stabilizing, microsoft only support now for the new lumia 900 and the lumia in the future but the old ones? Never mind
Sent from my Optimus 2X using xda premium
Remember, it's not just getting updates that's important, it's what comes in the updates that also matters. Ask yourself - that iPhone 3GS may have "excellent" update support, but do those updates actually make the phone better than android?
Hey all...
I am considering a Windows Phone 8.
But, I can't decide if a lower-end WP8 is worth the money. Take for example, an HTC 8S.
It costs 19,000 here. That's 350$. And even the LUMIA 820 is about 400$ though no official price is out yet.
My question, from a future perspective, are these phones worth buying? Or only the top end models will sustain what the future has to throw at it?
Like, for example: Already a couple of games are built with minimum 1GB RAM. 512MB of the 8S outdated already?
In short, is it an investment or a waste of money?
Sent from my RaZr on MIUI.
The chance of the new WP8 devices being phased out soon(next 2 years or so) is really small, so buying a WP, regardless of specs, is a good idea. You will have support from MS and OEM.
I'd buy it again...
Depends on what you want.
If you need a buttload of apps, the 8s is not for you due to the tiny internal storage. If you play high-end games, it's not for you either due to the limited RAM.
I have 19 apps installed, never play games, but use the browser and other internet related apps all day long, and am extremely happy with purchasing the 8S.
I see from your signature you're running MIUI on your android. If your like me, that's because android is ugly, and for some reason just not cutting it, which leads to flashing all sorts of ROM's, trying to find that sweet spot of smartphone heavenness... I've found that in the midrange HTC 8S (who'd have thought?)! It has great battery life, great sound output, never lags, great build quality, great looks etc.
Also my personalisation 'OCD' is well satisfied with the extremely custimizable homescreen, which was a major concern for me. It does all this while maintaining an uniform look.
I am positively surprised by the HTC 8S, as well as by Windows Phone 8.
I'd buy it again in a heartbeat.

Thanks a lot for your reply. It is just strange how u guessed it right that I have gone through a trazillion ROMs to arrive at one. Android IS ugly. In fact, after buying my OWN iPad Mini, (I got dad an iPad 2 for his birthday few months back) I realize what Android actually is, an UGLY twin of iOS.
Plus, the number of malware attacks, and the number of permissions granted by us to the apps is just scary.
Now coming to WP & 8S more specifically, the only thing worrying me is that some good games have already been developed that require at least 1GB RAM. The games that need 512 MB RAM look like student projects to me. That made me think twice. I haven't even bought the device and its outdated. I am not a gaming person at all. In fact, I am going to install not more than 10 apps, just like you.
The problem isn't LUMIA 820. The problem is I am in love with 8S.
And, god forbid, if 820 also becomes outdated half a dozen months later, I will be doomed.
But I get what you are saying, 8S is good. Period.

The chance of the new WP8 devices being phased out soon(next 2 years or so) is really small, so buying a WP, regardless of specs, is a good idea. You will have support from MS and OEM.

2 years? I heard new devices will be announced in the upcoming CES 2013?
Sent from my RaZr on MIUI.
Even if new devices come around, the "old" ones will not be phased out of support.
As far as games are concerned, the 8s is not exactly the phone that is aimed at gamers. You still have a lot of nice 512 RAM games, you just need to find them (99% of all apps in the marketplace are aimed at 512 devices). The biggest problem with the 8s is the storage size: out of 4 GB, at least 1.5 is taken by the system, and you can't install things on SD card.

Thanks...i was wondering if any way to check how much RAM a game needs. The MS Store on the desktop browser shows everything but that.

Applications you can't install are hidden by default in the marketplace.
Hello,
I got the Tab S2 8 inch or WiFi only model - SM-T710 on launch day.
I was really excited for this since I was upgrading from an iPad 4, which felt slow.
However, I was disappointed with many things :
1. Most Apps are not tablet optimized.
2. Asphalt 8 tends to lag, although I never noticed this with my iPad.
3. Only 1GB of the 3GB RAM seems to be available most of the time.
4. The play store won't let me access the US play store from outside the US.
5. Part of the Tablet feels hot after light usage.
Can rooting my device help with the above mentioned problems?
How can I fix these problems? Normally I would have done these myself but since I'm completely new to Android I wanted to ask. I've been using iOS since 5 years and I've never had any problems like these. I'm also a fan of iOS jailbreak, tweaks, etc..
One more doubt : Is there a chance that the Tab S2 will get the Android M update?
Thanks,
Trix

1. No issues on my s1
2. Can't help with that, don't play games
3. Perfectly normal on an Android device, Android doesn't waste ram, it uses it to make your device faster.
4. You probably need to load the firmware for your region.
5. Same as the s1

1. Unfortunately, that is going to be a common thing with Android. Google built scalable interface based off the resolution, which makes apps run on tablets. As opposed to the iPad, there isn't a scalable interface feature but instead it uses upscaling, which makes apps very large and blurry.
In addition to that, Apple forces the default settings of the app store search to only show iPad only apps. This means, if you didn't update your app to support tablet interfaces manually, you wouldn't show up on the default search. This pretty much *forced* all of the developers to update their apps, if they wanted it to be seen of course.
But, since Android scales all of this natively the developers are lazy and simply do not update their apps for tablet interfaces as much as iOS.
2. The Tab S2 is a very powerful tablet, but if you're comparing it to the Ipad Air 2 there's going to be no comparison on how the iPad is much stronger. The processer on the iPad is more powerful than some computers people have at home. However, Android really is not a gaming platform, it is more of a productivity platform. There are way more games on iOS than Android, so if you're into gaming (on mobile) stick with iOS. Both platforms have hardware that is compeltely overkill than what most of the gaming apps actually require.
3. That honestly is no different than the iPAD, the amount of memory free should not be a concern unless apps are closing more often than you would like. Keep in mind that iOS struggles with memory as well, you can browse the internet and minimize the app and come back and it will reload the entire page, losing the spot you were scrolled to. On Android, it actually remembers the last spot you were at, simply because it has better memory management.
Keep in mind tablets are solid state, with incredibly fast read and write speeds. Ram can actually become irrelvant, because it can simply page the memory to the solid state drive and it would be effectively the same speed as real ram; you could actually get away with running with 1GB of ram easily. It's just that there is a limited amount of read and writes to a solid state drive, so they still use dedicated RAM to extend the lifespan since it is cheaper than solid state drives in general.
4. You can use a VPN to bypass that restriction.
5. Both the Ipad and S2 will got hot if you try to game on it, these devices don't even have fans in them so I don't know what you are expecting.
With that being said, I much prefer Android over IOS. When I use my iPAD, I've pretty much given up searching for an app because it simply did not exist with such restricted permissions on the iOS platform. With Android, I can customize my tablet to my liking, and I really like the keyboard support on it; it is much better than Apple in that regard.
I own both tablets and I use the Android far more, both have their cons and advantages. But for me, I don't like mobile games, I find them too simple. Thats why I love Android because I can emulate all consoles up to PSP/DS ERA.

The read/write speeds of ss flash memory is nowhere near as fast as ram.
The Tab s and s2 both have very fast ram.
If manufacturers relied on flash memory for caching and system read/writes with today's fast cpu's the system would bottle neck and crawl.
Fast cpu's need much faster memory to keep up and run smoothly.
Run some benchmarks and you will see the difference.

Yes, there is no question that RAM is much faster, but if you're comparing it to normal usage most people wouldn't see the difference. The Surface Pro 3 64GB edition runs off 2GB of RAM and constantly runs at 90% peak memory and ironically performs just as fast as the 4GB version simply because the solid state has such a high read and write speed.
To a certain extent, all tablets page to the harddrive. As far as I know, there aren't many flagship android models that feature like huge amounts of super speed ram.
When you're comparing it to "much faster", say if you are travelling 500mph and you could go 1200mph, but you already get to your destination in less than a second so for the average user, they probably wouldn't even notice the difference.
I suggest you do more research on it.

The average user is not going to notice their device is faster if the device is perfectly capable of loading basic tasks such as websites at reasonable speeds.

1) Yup that is android sadly there. Though more are coming out with tablet versions of the software... FINALLY!
2) I haven't noticed that myself on the device as I do play that game as well
3) As long as it free's it up, there is no issues with having ram used. It will dump memory as needed if apps require more. Typically most apps don't require that much ram so no issues.
4) Thats just a country/region issue with the device ID. If rooted you can fix it at least. I travel and when outside the US the store is still US to me.
5) Most devices are like this. Gaming will make it hotter as well, but that goes for Android to Apple as well. Now, this device is cooler than previous ones I've had under heavy gaming and light usage gets a little warm.
As for the new OS, we can assume so, but since its a little ways off it might take time still for it to "Officially" come to the tablets.
I just bought mine yesterday and one feature under the settings was missing... there's no user under the device the options only are:
-sounds and notif
-display
-motion and gestures
-applications
there is no user. also in the notification panel there is no manage user.. can somebody help me plsss.. thanks in advance!
Tab S2 problem
Hey guys, hopefully someone here can point me in the right direction. Looks like i got screwed with my Tab S2. I bought a 9.7" cellular version from someone on Kijiji (Equivalent to Craigslist in Canada) and it was working just fine. I installed some apps and was just playing around with it. About two days later it started freezing and restarting when i would play a game or watch a video. Since then it has gotten progressively worse. I boot it up and 30 seconds to a minute later it turns off on its own. I thought it may be a software issue so i did a hard reset but the problem still persists. I took it into a Samsung repair center and they said that it is a pre-production model (IMEI is 00000000000000) and they cannot help. Any ideas what i can do to repair it. I just hate the idea of having a $400 paper weight.

Anyone experienced these probs?
Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 Problems/Issues
Model#: SM-T815Y
Android Version: 5.0.2 (latest)
1. random hanging 3x-10x/day depends on usage.
problem: hanging that leads to black display screen
solution: soft reset -> press the power button+volume down for atleast 10secs
or until boot up screen shows up.
1a. random hanging usually happens
-when downloading or opening something in the Playstore.
-exploring the settings of the gadget.
NOTE: I noticed that it happens frequently when clicking/using apps
that is related to its Internal Memory.(eg. problem#2)
2. Calculating the Size of the Applications
problem 1: it keeps saying computing even after 30mins of leaving the screen.
solution: unmount sd card>remove sd card>insert sd card.
problem 2: can't clear cache of an application.
solution: need to restart the gadget for it to take effect.
3. Auto Restart then it didn't boot up properly. It only stayed in Samsung Screen.
CONCLUSION: it's not normal to have these kind of problems 3gb of RAM,32gb of internal memory, up to date updates.
: very few widgets are activated, very few downloaded apps installed.
: strongly convinced that the cause of problem is its hardware specifically its internal memory.
