Was my Bootloader ever unlocked? - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

The question comes to my mind, because of the following reasons :
1) Bravia Engine not working (flashed xreality zip by @xperiaz2 but still no success)
2) Gracenote not working
But the catch is,that the "issues" I'm facing are in the replacement device(refurbished) that SONY gave me recently for the dead pixel issue :-/
I went in the service menu and it shows bootloader unlock allowed: yes
I even backed up TA partition of this device but it's of much lesser size than of my original device
The only thing that I could think of right now that I might have done wrong here is that, as I got my replacement, I restored the entire TWRP backup (system, data,,,) which I had taken in my original device, without noticing the BRAVIA ENGINE in album
So I wanted to know that whether my bootloader was ever unlocked by someone earlier, and that I've lost my drm keys??
Should I return this device to them?
Please guys, help me on this one!

You can check the status of your DRM keys in the service menu.
Enter *#*#7378423#*#* in the dialler then look in Service tests - Security. All the keys should say [Key OK][Active].

Bootloader unlock allowed = yes, means bootloader is still locked and unlockable.

It could have been unlocked before and relocked and it would still say that though. That's why I posted the method to check whether the DRM keys are intact or not.

I don't know, possibly something to do with restoring a backup from another device. If DRM keys are intact, BE2 should work. Try flashing a stock rom with Flashtool and see if it works then.

[Q] Unlock Xperia X8 via Data Cable

Hi guys, my doubt is the following:
I have unlocked bootloader but I want to unlock the "network lock" so my X8 can use any operator but I don't know what happens with my bootloader, it locks again? Thanks in advance
Look at the image below to see clearly what I'm talking about

If you have unloceked bootloader, then you should have sim unlock too. Look at that thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1254225

What are you talking about? That thread actually says bootloader unlock does not sim unlock the phone.

Calm down, NIMBAH - there are always people who fail to understand what a particular guide is all about (or not).
EDIT: @OP
Your other chance, which may be the better solution, is to SIM unlock through an EMMA/IMEI code. There are some sites on the net offering this kind of service.
Then, unlocking via EMMA/IMEI code my boootloader won't suffer any change, right?

No, your boot loader won't suffer changes ... the one has not really anything to do with the other.
The only relevant thing is at boot loader unlock - there's a scenario (read the guide in the development section!) where the original SIM lock could return, but that entirely depends on how the phone got SIM unlocked in the first place.
I unlocked bootloader and it unlocked my phone, and now i can use any sim card (t-mobile, vip.....)

Unlock Xperia X8
Please tell us how do you get it.
I have an Xperia X8 and I finalised the year, so I can ask to my operator to unlock the phone. The problem is that I have modified the original system (Android 1.6) the actual system is Android 2.3 (MiniCM 7-2.2) and I supose the operator will rejected to unlock my phone.
in my opinion should take. and as pujdzie something wrong, and so it can upload the unlocked bootloader 2.1 stock under flashtool and then bootladera lock without restoring your stock. And then you can return to normal rom coustom

[Q]Unlocked bootloader, still getting PCC updates?

Hi I've got 2 questions.
1. I've for some time had an unlocked bootloader on my Z and I've installed another ROM, PAC man, but now when I plugged in my device to Sony PC Companion I get a message that I've got an new firmware available, shouldn't PCC recognized the phone as unrecognizable?
Sorry that it's in swedish but translated it stands: An update of the phone's/tablets firware is available

}
A new version of the phone's/tablet's firmware is available
(10.1.1.A.1.253)
Bla bla bla
Click Update to start the updateguide.
2. I was wondering if there are any problem to install/update to .253 using PCC when on unlocked bootloader and another ROM? If I ever want to restore, could I use this instead of my .ftf if I want to factory reset it too, as an alternative to Flashtool?
Thanks
//TheHawk002
My experience is that PCC says there is an update for my device, which of course there is, but it wont update when I tried with unlocked bootloader .

Let me know when it does . No really you will be fine.
You will have a message:your phone has a modified software and the update will not carry on.
You can go back to stock by using emma,it's only for unlocked bootloader or of course with flashtool.
To use pcc or sus update's capabilities you will have to flash a stock rom and relock the bootloader with flashtool(no need for TA).

Yepp after downloading all files, then when I put the phone in flash mode it told me that the firmware were modified but I did at least get an ftf from it ( @DevShaft )

Can't unlock bootloader

I'm trying to unlock the bootloader of my C6603 and I keep getting errors or bootloops. My bootloader can be unlocked according to the attached screen.
I tried with Minimal ADB and I'm getting bootloops and with Sony Bootloader Unlock it's failing, according to this pic:

Drivers are installed correctly.
What's the catch?
Try using the fastboot package provided by DooMLoRD in his thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2153261
Also, the unlock key they send you is case sensitive, so double check what you're entering.

I tried with DL's method and just tried with FT. STILL getting BOOTLOOPS !
Try flashing a stock FTF with full wipe, then try again.
Also, I just noticed that your IMEI number is in your screenshot. I would remove it from the image if I were you.

Tried it. Still getting bootloops.
Then I can't think of anything else apart from trying a different USB cable/port or PC, but that probably won't make any difference.
When I unlocked my bootloader it worked straight away with no problems.

It worked on my XS. Looks like this one is a mystery.
Edit: CLEAN flashed it and tried an other port. Worked. Thanks for the suggestion!
You're welcome.

As I remember, flashing an unlocked-BL phone won't relock it, right? I'd like to relock it after gaining root on the .569.
That's correct.

Don't forget to backup your TA before you unlock the bootloader. Otherwise you'll loose your DRM keys forever and won't be able to re lock your bootloader

If u root, your warranty will not be void. If u officially unlock the bootloader, u have to ask bootloader key with sony which they will mail you and your warranty will be void (You can get your warranty and DRM keys back, if you perform TA backup before unlocking).

TA backup is not working 2011 device. How u backup and restore?
You don't use the official method to unlock but use a test point instead. Search in your rom thread

A service center will use SEUS to reset or reflash the device. This is standard in most centers. SEUS will tell that the device has unofficial software and thus letting them know that the bootloader is unlocked.

TA partition question

Hi, when I flash a custom rom or I flash a stock firmware with another country code does the TA partition gets modified? Generally, in which case the ta partition gets modified?

If you want a custom ROM you need a unlocked bootloader. If you unlock your bootloader you loose the drm-keys, which are included in the TA. That's the reason why you should do a TA-Backup before unlocking the bootloader.
Ok, I already knew this. Is unlocking the bootloader the only way in which ta partition gets modified?

It's the only way I know.

Not true. All flashing stock firmware modify ta partition.

Backup of ta partition made in December (on left) and yesterday (on right) simply opened in notepad++ as text and compared.
You can see even witch customisation I flashed. While editing you can find your IMEI, etc. I believe we could unlock bootloader hardlocked by provider with editing ta partition.
Wysłane z mojego C6603 przy użyciu Tapatalka
The contents of the TA partition vary between boots and firmware flashes, as there's an area that logs are written to. That does not mean it's safe to tamper with it.
If you edit any of the secure sections of the TA partition (bootloader lock status, IMEI, SIM lock status etc), you will end up with a hard brick. It's part of the chain of trust and it's contents are verified on boot. If verification fails, the bootloader refuses to boot into any mode (that means it will not boot into Android, flashmode or fastboot).
In short, don't do it.
