I own a retail XT1058. 4.4.2 KitKat rooted.
I'm used to and like the haptic feedback. A work colleague has the same phone(retail XT1058, stock 4.4.2) and I realized that his active display clock works with the proximity sensor while mine only with the gyroscope/shake(?) action.
Messing with the settings, I figured that disabling haptic feedback the proximity sensor works, in both Moto X, but enabling it make the proximity sensor stop working.
Anyone has this problem or maybe even a solution? I want the proximity active display working but dont want to give up the haptic feedback.
I noticed this too after reading this thread. I just disabled the Haptic feedback though.

Since the last few nightlies (on 253 now), I've had troubles with my phone staying black after a phone call. I've read a few posts on disabling the proximity, but I test the sensor and it is working correctly (using z test). I really don't wish to arbitrarily disable the sensor knowing that it is working.
Does anyone know of another solution?
Thanks!
Dear all,
Any idea on how to disable the creen from turning off automatically when making a call on 4.2.2 custom firmware?
Use something to break your proximity sensor. Lol. Just kidding.
I think you can use delay proximity sensor.
How to do that please
I dropped my Moto X and suddenly, the proxmity sensor is not working anymore.
It is really annoying during phone calls where the screen stays off. I enabled the "power button ends call" option to circumvent this, but still, I cannot use my phone during call.
It there a way to disbale the proxmity sensor ?
Also, active display doesn't work anymore. Is there a hack to use the light sensor instead for the moto active display ?
Thanks

There is an app in the app store that will disable the proximity sensor. Just look for it.
Hey, I'm using Moto X 2013 Xt1052 running Lollipop 5.1, My proximity sensor is not working, I'm sure it's the proximity sensor because I used test apps and I can see it's detecting proximity all the time at a distance of 3cm.
Obviously, my biggest problem with that is that my screen goes dark when I make a call (Because the proximity sensor think the phone is near my ear). Trying to use the power button to turn on the screen didn't work so I set the power button to hangup calls (Otherwise I had to wait for the other side to hang up!).
I think the Proximity sensor has got some Hardware defect, Please help me telling a way how to disable the proximity sensor so that while placing a call the screen won't go off.
I have the same problem on my phone. It happens not always but sometimes during calls. Or when I hear a long vocal on whatsapp putting the phone on the ear.

It's very hard to disable it in software. The best way is to open up the phone and physically remove the sensor from the PCB. It's easy to chop it of with a flat screwdriver.Problem solved.
I'm having problems with this sensor. And wanted to disable it does anyone know one way?
