[Q] need help rooting 4.4.2 - LG G Flex

Ok I'm still new to rooting so sorry if this is in the wrong place or sounds stupid. I got my lg flex about a month ago. i rooted it at 4.2. I didn't know that when 4.4.2 came out it would take my root away. well now when i try to use ioroot24 it cant find my phone after i toggle the usb mode. Any one got any ideas?

You cant root KK yet. If you REALLY want root, follow the tutorial at the G Flex General forum for going back to stock. You have to use the lg flash tools to flash stock .tot and then you can re-root. Thats what I did.

I rooted yesterday using ioroot 25 after stock flash and upgrade to Kit Kat on the Sprint LS995 version. It does it via update from adb in the stock recovery

Yeah after having a horrible update and getting caught in a boot loop I went back to starting over with lg flash tool to 4.2.2 taking the OTA to 4.4 and then ioroot 25 I tried the automatic method first and it rebooted to recovery and then choked so I selected apply update from ADB and adb side load kk_root.zip http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=48709232&postcount=869 check the section under not working for manual root method

Verizon Moto X 4.4 return to 4.2.2

I was under the impression that once I accepted the KitKat update, I would no longer be able to return to 4.2.2 and root/all that.
Is this true? Can I still use RSDLite to go back?
I was wondering the same thing on the AT&T variant

You can downgrade to 4.2.2 using RSDlite after the 4.4 upgrade. I have the VZW version, not the AT&T version, but I assume it's the same.

As of now you can use RSD Lite to go back to 4.2.2. In fact if you want root in 4.4 you need to go back to 4.2.2 to start the process.

If your boot loader is unlocked just flash the recovery in fastboot and after doing that it will ask you if you want root, just hit yes and bam you got custom recovery plus root. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2534850

Can't post links, but take a look at the thread entitled [FAQ] for Kit kat and How to prepare for it (All Carriers) in the general section.

So far my friend who I only rooted (not unlocked) using RockMyMoto (3 push method) said her phone is rebooting over and over after the upgrade. It boots up ok.. but then after 30 secs of starting, it powers off and keeps doing it.
I am kinda shocked at that as usually a new update will just overwrite the rooting. Trying to figure out how to fix her problem. Might have to unlock her and force with RSD Lite.
you will bootloop. You have to use rsd lite to go back to stock
The update is bootlooping you because you don't have the stock recovery installed. If you flash the stock recovery, the update should fail and you should be able to boot normally (into 4.2.2, of course). See the aforementioned thread for details on how to get the OTA with or without RSD Lite.

Thanks all for the info... I hadn't realized this was replied to until I made a separate thread, but I came to the same conclusion as well..
Here is my other thread explaining how I fixed it for anyone else with the same issue:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2575952
Then ran the SlapMyMoto method to update correctly.
Cheers

NEVER update anything if you are rooted especially not when you have a custom recovery. At least not until you thoroughly read through the forum. I find it insane that people will just start flashing things when you could possibly have a $700 paper weight. The att model and the tmous model have different modems. Go here for a really good guide. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2753013

You can't just go back to kitkat since there's no one put out a return to stock kitkat procedure. Your best option is to use the return to jelly bean stock flashtool procedure for at&t and just take the kitkat update again that's the only way.

[Q] LS995 ZV6 update tot file

Hi. I have a sprint gFlex LS995 with ZV3 stock rom rooted.
I don't know how i have messed up with the stock recovery and now my phone is without any recovery in it. I am unable to install OTA update may be because of missing recovery. I tried the stock zv3.tot file using LG flash Tool but the recovery is still missing.
Can anyone give a link to LS995 ZV6 update .tot file for lg flash tool as i am unable to update using the zip file due to missing recovery.
Please help.
Use the top from the back to stock post. I just used it yesterday cuz I've been on 4.2.2 rooted since the week the phone came out. Used the back to stock and took ALL updates back to rooted and happy!

Follow this guide : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2432476
Upgrade to lollipop 39b
Root your device using lg 1 click root.
Download Autorec for ur variant from playstore, and install TWRP
Update TWRP to latest . ( for these steps, there's a guide i have written , you can check it for info)
Make a backup of your rom, and u can install any custom rom and experience them before u decide to make one your daily driver.
