Hi guys, I have a little doubt of upgrading my HTC Nexus One :fingers-crossed:
First of all: The power button is broken (I'm searching where to buy this piece)
I was reading to upgrade the BlackRose to a newer version, using the comand line in Windows.
But the main doubt is: If I upgrade the BlackRose, does it affect the current ROM? (I'm using CM 7.2)
Thanks in advance
please expand upon your question
I have the power button broken too.
I don't know where to buy it.
But about your main problem, when you use blackrose you lose all the internal storage data is lost, so also your system and your apps (etc). You have to reinstall you system and gapps after you use blackrose.

I was searching in Amazon, but the seller sends from China :/
But, did you reinstall you OS? with the power button power?
Done
I was a litle bit nervous to update blackrose or not with the power buton broken.
But I made it and it was better! The enter menu changed, you use the trackball instead of the power buton (Yai!!) Then you install the rest of the ROM.
So, if you are thinking to do or not, do it (obviously being carefully), because I did it and works, works better.
See you
Ok, I have a week testing 4.4 on my Nexus and works awesome!
Its better than CM7, more stable.
It has a widget to turn off, reboot, enter recovery on the cellphone correctly (if you had the power buton broken) and other widget to lock the screen.
In case that your cellphone reboots and it says that media process closed, reboot your cellphone again.

What OS are you using? If you're using W8/8.1 it doesn't work (at least for me), I tried with W7.
Does it start your "old" Android OS?
Do you have the Stock ROM and Stock Bootloader?
You have to read and understand this post to install BlackRose:

My nexus one cannot go through the splash screen during the boot process and keeps restarting over and over. The power button is not working on the device, so I can't use the recovery or any option in the bootloader that requires me to push the power button.
I cannot enable the debugging option, since I can't start the phone.
I was trying to use fastboot thingy, but it keeps coming with "FAILED (remote: signature verify fail)" or" FAILED (remote: not allowed)"
Any idea how to bring this phone back to life?
I'm experiencing the same thing, broken power button and endless bootloops. I'm rooted, but only on the most basic ROMs without any sort of way reboot into recovery. Any help would be great...
I would get power button fixed firstly, if I were you. Good luck anyway!

Connect your nexus to a charger, when led turns on pull the battery out, when led turns off put the battery in before led shows up again.
After you put the battery in correctly, just long press the trackball to get into hboot
After that just use the recovery to wipe and flash a new rom

use trackball and volup/down
trackball to choose, volup/down for marking/selecting
Do you use blackrose?
If so, trackball works 100%

I don't use Blackrose, my ROM is a very basic form of MIUI from earlier this year and I haven't updated it since. I thought I would be able to use the trackball in place of the power button as well, but so far it's not working. Is there any other way to boot into recovery or another way to use the trackball instead of the power button?

Sorry I was wrong about it. The option is reboot-bootloader so there seems to be no way to boot to recovery directly in your case.
As to the message u got, you need to install android boodloader driver so that fastboot may work. But it can only lead u to hboot, not further.

Don't worry about it, It's cool... I loved this phone, had it since it came out back in January 2010, now I have to find a new one. I was checking out the HTC One S and X, and maybe the X+ if they ever release it, are those good upgrades to the Nexus One?
I'm not expert of hardware, but believe theses are way much better than N1 as you will have bigger screen, more cpu cores, larger RAM and internal storage size, and most impotant - ICS or jelly beans ROMs.

I tried one out today at a local T-Mobile store, it's a very nice phone but sorta disappointed me with the lack of transferable SIM and Micro SD cards. I'm gonna do more research on it but it's shaping up to look like my N1's replacement... :crying:

Yesterday i did same thing, only i found some different thread. It must be somewhere on nexus 4 forum. I was on PA 3+ and it worked very well. Only remember what you need to go to recovery and clear catch before booting, because in my case i couldn't boot until i wiped catch. And to enter recovery mode. You need to go enter fastboot, when choose recovery, and when you will see "dead android" you need to hold power button and then press (only one time, not hold) volume up and then you will see menu you can release power button. No need to press vol up and vol down. Just vol up, and press it only one time. Yesterday my mistake was then i always was holding power+vol up and phone was always turning off. Maybe this info will help for someone.

It is under step 4.
Is there also a way to just unroot without deleting all data?
All I did was replace the customrecovery.img and installing supersu. Cant I just delete that?
I have a battery problem and I need to send the phone back, but Im afraid they will drop warranty because of me rooting it (only to try to calibrate battery -,- )
And what about 4.3 ?
If you reflash your android device to 4.2.2, will it ask to install the update (4.3?)
So, did anyone tried it? does it works? my friend asks me to unroot his nexus, and i want to be sure, that i'll not kill his device

Tried, and so far it seems like I've bricked mine. When I'm supposed to see a dead Android, I have an exclamation mark instead of the "open stomach Android".

Hi all, I just got my HTC one today and love this phone. I unlocked the bootloader and installed twrp touch 2.6.0.0. The problem Im having with twrp is when it says to slide to unlock it will slide once and unlock but if i try anything else it just locks and wont slide again. Unless i hit the back button but will do the same again and again. Tried rebooting and anything i can think of. What i would like to do is actually install 4ext as my recovery but im not sure of how to do this now since my recovery isnt work right. Can i do it from fastboot and just install over twrp or do i need to wipe it first. Dont wanna go any further until i consult with the experts here first. Thanks for any input and help.

You might want to read this
http://www.4ext.net/status_update.php
4ext isn't available for the One, however it is slated to be one of the first devices to be supported, however there is no release date as of now.
As for twrp maybe you got a bad download? Try downloading and flashing again.

That could be possible. So here is what iam thinking. I boot into bootloader and run fastboot, from there i can use a cmd prompt to just install a different version of twrp or cmd over what is there now. I dont have to wipe the current recovery thats screwed up?. Thanks by the way

Maybe it can be fixed with a kernel?
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
If it is over multiple roms it's more like to be a hardware issue. Other wise everyone would have the problem.
Simply rooting cannot affect the speaker - rooting installs two files and a script - that is it.
What have you flashed on top?
viper4android is a sound enhancer so yes flashing that will most likely break the speaker if it is not compatible with the device ....

By the way that is a way out dated way of rooting and has pushed you back to an old 4.2.2 kernel that you are now running on a 4.3 bootloader and android rom base so YES in your case that MAY have caused issues.
LOOK AT THIS:
Prerequisites: drivers, adb and fastboot (this), firmware >= 10.14.1.47, asus unlock app
What bootloader are you on?
Update your device to that latest stock from the asus website or flash CROMi-X to see if that recovers it.

There's your problem (or the most likely cause) Incompatible bootloader.
Now you have the hard task of upgrading to 10.26.1.18.
OK. I got it working! I had to install the 4.3*V10.26.1.18*bootloader from an externally mounted sdcard.
Here's a "cookbook" of all the steps I performed ...
1. Unpack the device and fully charge it.
2. Meanwhile, go to the ASUS TF701T download site (http://www.asus.com/Tablets_Mobile/A...pport_Download).
3. Select*Android*as the OS.
4. Select*Firmware.
5. Download this to my desktop computer. It's the TF701T unlock utility:*http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/Eee...01T_Unlock.rar
6. Unrar the unlock utility file (TF701T_Unlock.rar). I got this file*0820-0954_SIGNED_UnLock_for_TF701_repart.apk
7. Download this to my desktop computer. It's the 4.3 upgrade with the V10.26.1.18 bootloader:*http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/Eee...8_SDupdate.zip
8. Unzip the 4.3 upgrade file (WW_10_26_1_18_SDupdate.zip). This file was extracted:*T4_SDUPDATE.zip.
9. Copy*T4_SUPDATE.zip*to an empty sdcard.
10. After the TF701T is fully charged, boot it up.
11. Do the most minimal setup possible, without even connecting to my Google account.
12. Power down the TF701T.
13. Insert the sdcard with*T4_SDUPDATE.zip*into the TF701T's sdcard slot.
14. Hold down the*Volume Down*and*Power*buttons on the TF701T to boot into bootloader mode.
15. Using the*Volume Down*key, make sure that "RCK" is flashing on the screen.
16. Press the*Volume Up*key.
17. The screen will go blank for a few seconds, and then the Android icon will show up with the dodecahedron moving as the software installs.
18. After a few minutes, the device will reboot back into the OS.

Is gives me an error when I go into RCK and it tries to flash the file. Is there a way to adb force the tablet to update? I called Asus for an rma and they are gonna charge me probably a lot to fix the tablet.

Damn you to? Wow.
hi there,
yes me too.......but I´m sure it´s my fault, sdbags is wrigtht with "Simply rooting cannot affect the speaker - rooting installs two files and a script - that is it. " , I think I played too much with soundenhancers like->viper4android, fx music and on cm11 the dsp manager!!! It escaped my notice in wich configuration at last run correctly. I tried everything , I even formated every partition in the recovery mode! How ever IT´S MY FAULT , on my mobile phones all enhancers working perfect!!!Sound from my HTC ONE M7 +Viper4Android is awesome ......now I`ve learned that a "phone " is not a "tab"
p.s : anybody some knowledge in changing the hardware speaker on a tab???

same for me.
i used towerroot v1 to rooted my tf701f (still locked). and only have installed titanium backup on it -- then the audio is all distorted.
i have tried full wipe (using setting menu), and has since upgraded to 4.4.2 -- still no dice. My bootloader version is "us-epad-11.4.1.17-20140711".
Since my bootloader is still locked, is there a way i can do a full stock flash ? (I tried to download update/flash from asus site (US_epaduser_10_26_1_18_UpdateLauncher.zip), but they do not work)
thanks

Rooting is not going to have any effect on the speaker. That's most likely a hardware problem.
You are on 4.4.2 and Asus has not posted that firmware on their website yet. The file you downloaded is JB 4.3. If you want to flash it, you have to unzip it once, resulting in another zip. It's that xxxx...user.zip you need to copy to the root of your SD. But that would be a downgrade at this point. Make sure you got the correct SKU or it won't work.
are there any updated instructions with working links for this issue? a little late to the game rooting my tf701 and im also having the issue with the speaker sounding like its totally blown out

Mine blew a few months ago. Cheap hardware... Not worth it to repair IMO as long as Bluetooth works.
Reg. update /rooting: What exactly do you want to accomplish?
The best way still is:
Unlock the bootloader
Fastboot flash custom recovery
Flash SuperSU if all you want is rooted stock.
Or flash a custom rom
