I am looking to track the pedometer data from my Galaxy Gear (unrooted) on my Galaxy S3 I747 (AT&T). I haven't yet found an app that can use and report daily steps taken. Is there anything out there?
I tried S-Health but could find no way to get it to connect to the pedometer. Also, it is extreme overkill for me. Really I just want to know my daily steps history.

Hey guys,
Yesterday I bought Galaxy Gear. I currently own Galaxy S3 that I would like to pair with Gear.
I'm on custom SlimBean ROM with Android 4.3. I have installed the APK Gear Manager that is floating around the forum here (around 17mb), it installs without the problem, but when it comes to pairing I get a little popup that some part of Samsung SDK is not supported and the connection is being broken. Did anyone else get it to work with S3?
I have time till next saturday to decide whatever I will keep it or not, maybe there will be a solution by then. I can always return it to the store.

update us if you manage to get it to work considering samsung said that it will pair with teh s3 once it updates to 4.3 :good:
sure, no problem, but my hands are tied at the moment, unless someone have some other idea how i could possibly pair it.
Can I ask does the watch display basic functions I.e time, camera etc ? Or is it stuck a the pairing icon?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
maybe there is a way to go further, but i don't see such option. it's stuck at pairing and only display battery left.
gear got gs3 and my gear paired without any issues. My gs3 is stock rom, downloaded the gear manager from Samsung app store and it all worked fine! There are some things that don't work - s voice, weather, can't install any new apps from Samsung app store but pretty much everytjing else works (calling, transfer of pics and videos, changing clock face, etc). Any questions, pls ask!
Rooted Stock Rom on my S3 and it paired fine with my 1st Watch (That went back to Best Buy, since I wasn't paying $300 until it was fully working - and my new one will be here tomorrow - had to take the 30% deal).
So it paires and the functions that worked, worked well ... Like the previous post - No apps / etc ... But Calls worked, pictures, etc

No, it's not rooted, I installed the earliest version of the manager and that one seems to be the only one that works. Today stupidly I went to Samsung app store and tried to install the new version... as the install wasn't working I deleted the version I had - and this was a mistake as new versions seem to be compatible only with 4.3. After searching this site, I've found the version that works again thankfully! so if you click here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2484065&page=4 and install the app from the last post - this should work. Let me know how you get on.
for anyone curious, using this rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1910947 and this Gear Manager apk: http://depositfiles.com/files/pmgqxv9c5 will get you paired up with your Galaxy Gear.
Everything connected right up no problem.
The only issue is no notifications, which is the main reason I wanted this but its only a temporary issue. Hopefully.(c'mon 4.3 update :fingers-crossed
Camera, calls, even incoming calls, work fine, can change app settings and everything. I was even able to load GamboyColor AD and play some pokemon on it lol.
Hi All,
Any tips / tricks to get the Galaxy Gear watch to work with the S4 Active on 4.2.2? As soon as I open Gear Manager, it says it cannot work with this phone.
I tried a bluetooth connect, and it connects but then disconnects right away
Thanks.

I found the root and 4.3 yesterday, and it's working, except for S-Voice. It says S-voice is not installed on my phone - but it is, and it works on my phone

Oh don't know why. I did the 4.3 upgrade, set up the gear apps etc and only then rooted the phone. Maybe try this sequence.
Although, had to reinstall samsung apps to fix few things but everything else worked fine. Will ask friend about S voice again and report back.

So - since installing the 4.3, my phone randomly 'forgets' my Google accounts. They are GONE.
I returned the galaxy gear, so 4.3 is no longer 'needed'. Is it possible to go back to 4.2? That may be the cause of the google accounts frequently vanishing.

As of now there is no way to downgrade because of a locked bootloader. You're sick with what you've got. You can try going to the Samsung Store at Best Buy and see what they can do, but I don't think it'll work since you've already upgraded.
so the OTA also has an issue with losing the google account? I thought this was only an issue for the Leak. By the way the odin 1 click restore can take you back to 4.2.2

I have a Galaxy Gear working almost perfectly with my 4.2.2 S4 Active. Only S-Voice and weather do not work. Notifications are all there, hands free works, apps work.
All you need is to install the gearmanagerstub.apk and gearmanager.apk to get you started. Head to the XDA Galaxy Gear forum for the how to

Just realized there is a specific Gear 2 Neo forum... they should combine them. How confusing! Anyhow...
I used the S-Voice option once on my Gear2 Neo, then when I was going to use it a few hours later but it no longer works. I hit the Mic to send a talk command and it does the circle connecting icon, then says No response from server. Try again.
Anyone know why that is happening or how to fix it? Did some searching and haven't seen anyone else mentioning it.
Whoops, I should say I have the latest version of everything to my knowledge and am on a GS5. I check for updates for the Gear, Gear Manager, and GS5 and all up to date.

Silly me, S-Voice had updated and wanted me to re-go through tutorial or skip it. I hit skip and boom! Good to go.
I'm having the same problem with my gear 2. I I had s voice working before, after an update recently it doesn't seem to work. It just says Connecting... And times out

Just read up on this issue and had the same issue with s voice not connecting to the server.
Well I resolved this issue by uninstalling the Samsung gear app, and then going to the Samsung App Store and redownloaded it. Then it went through all the tutorial crap again and it reset my watch as well installed updates and a couple service packs. After reconnecting my watch to my phone again, it appears my s voice is working again and can send messages and tell it to do stuff again.
I also recommend installing flesky messenger as it has a full keyboard for your watch so if you're like me and fat fingers stuff it'll automatically try to tell what you're typing.
Currently on a Verizon samsung galaxy s5 on straight talk with a samsung galaxy gear 2 neo smart watch (El cheapo tizan operating system one).
Hope this helps.
I can't find the microphone or anywhere to setup s voice on watch. Any ideas?

Same here.... Any solutions? Also, I noticed that Watch Styler app was removed as well. I can get it on my device but not the watch.
So after some concentrated effort and finagling I've been able to get both my phone (Sprint Samsung GS4,) and my Galaxy Gear rolling with Cyanogenmod 10.2 and Null 23, respectively. I'm now beset by the task of trying to make them love one another.
Here's what I can tell so far: The Gear and GS4 do seem to be half-way connected via bluetooth. If I turn the phone off or take the gear out of range it (the gear) will beep and say it has lost connection. The Gear will also pick up phone calls if I receive them.
Nothing else seems to be working. It doesn't trigger on text notifications, does not have internet (I do have internet sharing turned on) and the gear manager crashes whenever I try to access it on my phone so there doesn't seem to be much else I can do with it atm. Google apps won't work (They crash with a 'Goggle Account Manager has closed' error) and I can't access the camera app either ('Gallery has stopped' error).
Anyone have suggestions/ideas on where to start with this?
Tablet talk app works much better for texting than the stock method which i no longer use. I've read you are better off using something like Swaplink over Gear Manager for anything other than Note 3. Internet tethering drains the battery so fast it isn't even worth using in my opinion. Not being able to use the camera would bother me...try installing Camera ICS+ on the Gear and see if that works.
Sprocket app from this forum! That app is the single reason I didn't sell my gear. Send and receive texts, get notification (you choose what notifications you receive on the gear) and if you pay for the key you can use a remote function for your media files.
Anyone know how you can transfer the data from the gear app on an old phone to a newer one? I don't want to have to go through the faff of setting it all up again and losing my S Health data.
