Hello guys, I need an help! I have reinstalled a 4.4.2 stock ROM on my phone, because I had some problems with ARHD 53.0, and decided to return stock waiting for 63.0. Anyways, I am curious about a thing. I have TWRP 2.6.3.3 installed on my phone, last firmware (4.19.401.11), stock kernel, rooted, last hboot, no fastboot option activated and, when I try to flash the stock recovery of 4.19.401.11, it always fails; it doesnt open but shows the warning red sign screen. Instead, I can install TWRP recovery without any problems. What is the reason for this? I always erase cache from fastboot before and after recovery flashing. thanks to everyone!

So the normal HTC stock recovery cant be used for flashing, etc? just for the OTA? Was just curious about, dont want to keep stock recovery but wondered about it
You need a custom recovery to flash any roms. Stock recovery is for OTA's. If you aren't worried about them I'd leave the custom recovery on

I was trying to flash a custom rom because I didn't like the att customized rom. I unlocked the bootloader thru htcdev.com and I used the All-In-One toolkit to flash CWM. Everything was fine and I was able to enter CWM. However, after I flashed the Android Revolution HD 6.0 rom, it just stucked at HTC screen. I am trying to enter the recovery and reflash the rom, but I cannot enter CWM anymore. It just disappeared and reboot. I can enter the bootloader. I tried to reflash CWM, but same thing happened. Happened to me too, I finally got into CWM again after locking my bootloader, unlocking it again. Still can't get it to boot, nor Sideload a ROM from ADB. :/

The good news is, if your phone powers on, you haven't "bricked" anything.
The bad news is, it sounds like you didn't back up your stock ROM and there's something hinky in how you flashed CWM the second time.
The better news is that you can restore the stock recovery image, and using that, you can reflash the stock ROM. This will put you back at square one, but rest assured that if you can power on your device, and you can get to fastboot, you haven't "bricked" anything.

Don't fastboot flash the recovery. fastboot boot the recovery image. Hope that helps.
Thanks for the good news! May I ask that where I can download the att stock rom and the stock recovery image? I can only find the european and asia version. Thanks
Did you happen to flash the correct boot.img that should have been supplied with the Rom? If not you have to flash it as well.

I wouldn't listen to this guy, let alone flash a file he provided. The website he linked to even asks to not do just that.
Here is the link to the official TWRP page:
https://twrp.me/Devices/
You should be able to find every version for the m7 here.

I understand your concern but FYI these recoveries linked by the other guy are safe. Unofficial TWRP by MDmower are well known and sometime more reliable than the official twrp versions (depending which version) .

I changed my screen, volume board, charge port and battery so i will try this.
Had the same problem after screen replacement... Stuck in bootloop and it wouldn't boot to recovery. What i did, i was going to try universal TWRP but had to unlock bootloader. so after i pushed unlock_code.bin via fastboot and phone asked if i want to unlock bootloader, i said yes, phone rebooted to recovery mode with bunch of errors. just did factory reset and wiped data/cache in recovery, did reboot in recovery and after phone started to boot up normally. give it a go.

As a last resort you can try flashing a stock rom via fastboot. Only if you don't mind losing all your data but atleast you will have a working phone again. Just a heads up make sure to backup all the contents of your phone to the cloud or a computer in case something like this happens again.

Brother i am not getting a suitable twrp recovery for my htc m7 PN07100.
Go to Teamwin Recovery's main site select your phone and download recovery.
Tried a new ROM but it froze on me. Then tried my back up and it would reboot after like a minute. So decided to do a full wipe but it deleted everything. I can get into the bootloader screen and TWRP but Windows can't read the phone and when it tries to install the drivers some of them fail. I have a copy of my recovery but need to know how to push it back to my phone and get the drivers installed right so that my PC can read my phone. Help.
TWRP seems to now act funny too where it'll like go to sleep and I have to press the home button or power button for a while before it turns the screen back on. Sometimes though I have to do the button combo to get back into recovery.
RUU
So I RUU'd the phone and it's working now, thanks. But it still shows unlocked and with S-OFF. So at this point can I just proceed with rooting it or do I have to lock it and put it back to S-ON before trying to re-root it? Or can I just try rooting it and putting a recovery image on it? It's been a while since I rooted it and obviously there was no 4.3 out at that time.
No need to re-lock or s-on just flash recovery and flash a rooted rom

Thanks for taking the time to help me out. So I installed v.2.5 of TWRP that I had instead of the newer version and it just freezes at the main screen. I can reflash it but it does the same thing. You should be able to flash right over the older version make sure you download a fresh version of 2.6.3.0 from here http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/m7wls
Also remember after flashing the recovery.img type fastboot erase cache
The other thing is go into settings/screen and disable screen timeout that should take care of the "freezing" problem
Hi,
I just got a brand new HTC One 7 (WWE, CID E_11) after my last one died. Im trying to root it and install a custom recovery to install arhd or insertcoin. I used htc one toolkit for this. Everything seemed to work ok, but after booting the installed rom (ARHD or insertcoin) the phone reboots after i see the login screen. I somehow managed to reinstall my phone again yesterday, as it was a complete (soft) brick.
I used this to return to stock:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2759000
Now does anyone know why I get a reboot loop? Does anyone know if i installed this stock rom if I get the normal OTA updates again? And do i need to relock the bootloader for this? I would really like to install stock roms again but I'm a little anxious after yesterday. (I've installed custom roms since the old HD2/HTC desire, and also on my old HTC One M7, never had any problems, I think it has to do with the Hboot).
Hoping to hear from you guys,
best wishes,
Olaf

Flash the stock firmware 5.11.401.10! I think your firmware is mismatched.
By flashing the firmware after installing the Rom I might fix the bootloop? Or is the stock firmware necesarry to go back to stock? Sorry bit confused, thanks for your response btw

Flashing the firmware might fix the boot-loop, since you flashed the stock rom! If it does stop the boot-loops, you can re-install TWRP or CWM to get the custom recovery.

when using a sense custom rom you need to make sure you use twrp 2.6.3.3 recovery, do not use the toolkits, most of the time they are out of date and not updated, this would explain the bootloops, take the time to learn how to use adb and fastboot, you'll never look back.
nothing to do with the firmware and no need to flash it, if your firmware was knackered, you would have a hard brick.

First of all thanks for the quick response. I know how to use adb and fastboot (at least I think).
If i would (in this order) do the following, would that be correct?:
unlock using htdev
Flash twrp 2.6.3.3 using fastboot command: "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" (naming twrp 2.6.3.3.img = recovery.img)
reboot bootloader
Flash SuperSU.zip in TWRP
reboot twrp
flash custom rom (ARHD).
The thing is it isn't a normal bootloop (which normally would come with the HTC logo all the time)
It reboots when I try to setup the phone (in the setup menu). Restoring the phone with the link in the OP, ive recoverd my phone, but I would still love to use custom roms again.

It seems that insertcoin had a problem in it's installer:
http://insertcoin-roms.org/category/devices/one_m7/one_sense6/
the changelog says: Fixed SuperSU install (might solve the sudden reboot issue in SetupWizard)
It left me without any rom to install, so i had to sideload ARHD, which it didnt want to install via sideload... The next step I isntalled stock again, which I'm using right now.. but I miss xposed framework and other tweaks too much..
I'm gonna try to unlock it again this afternoon and install insertcoin again, but this time ill make a backup first. Does installing the recovery wipe anything?

no it doesn't wipe anything, but you can use xposed and its tweaks on stock rom, you just need to root first, just install TWRP, enter recovery and again upon exit it will offer to root stock rom for you.

An OTA update will not work on a rooted phone! For the OTA to work it needs stock recovery, stock rom and all of the files that it is attempting to update. If anything is missing then it will error out and return to your present setup.
and to complete what majmoz already said, if your rom is 100% stock, and you have flashed back your stock recovery, the phone will update fine but you will loose root. You'll need to flash a custom recovery after the OTA to re-root the rom.
Guys you're very helpful and i must thank you for that. i am on the official 4.4.3 rom so i just need to restore the stock recovery? how to do that? and will the current rooting method work on lollipop (and should i follow the same steps to install clockwork recovery)? Will the ota update relock the bootloader?
i'm sorry if i'm asking too many questions but i don't trust any other forum.

If you have not modified anything to your rom (Kernel is stock and always was, you have not deleted any /system files and you still have or restored all the content in /data/preload (wiped during bootloader unlock), so yes all you need to do is to flash back the stock recovery that match your version.
how to do that?
