Best App for backing up Kit Kat? - AT&T Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok so I've had nothing but trouble with Titanium Backup and Kit Kat. I can get it to install a few apps at a time but then it freezes, I have to force close and start over. Took about 5 hours this last time.
I posted a thread to that effect, but didn't really get any answers so I thought I'd ask what you guys are using for backing up?
I started using Rom Toolbox a while back, but upon flashing several months ago, I ended up with corrupt data and that was no fun...so I went back to ttb...and now this is happening.
Any suggestions on a backup app that seems to be flawless and for sure works with KitKat?

Have not had any issues with Titanium Backup since moving to KK. Works just like it did on JB for me. Maybe you can try helium. You have USB debugging on? You using the pro version / and the latest version?

Are you restoring apps that were previously on your JB build and now restoring them on KitKat? Also, are you trying to restore system apps or data apps?

User apps... And no, I was on kit kat already on knoxraid...
And the backups are good... That's what's weird... When I force stop ttb and restart it, they install fine... Until it freezes again.

[Q] Best way to back up?

I flash a lot. I'm getting sick of manually reinstalling apps. I used mybackup pro but it seems like it would forget apps. Right now I'm using AppBrain. Is there any way to back up all apps then reinstall them from the back up and have them run like nothing ever happened?
android should install them automatically once you link your phone with your google account. Other then that not that I know of, unless you move all apps to sdcard.
I think it only does that on the stock rom.
nope, did it for CM6 and Enomthers rom (sorry i cant remember how to spell it)

Ready to change my old android 4.0 for 4.2.2

Hi people!!!
I'm ready to change my old android 4.0 for a new one, i'm thinking in 4.2.2 because it's newer and i think that has less bugs that this version.
But i'm worried about my apps, and services, like my gps points and my advace in my games and download again everything!!!
So, i want to know if exist any app to avoid download all again, and keep my info, like my notes, my downloads and everything.
Thanks in advance for the help!!!

Google will back up all of your apps if you opted to do so. Make a nandroid back up in recovery, as well as a TiBu backup. Then when you isntall 4.2.2 you should be able to recover everything with those 3 backups.

Going from 4.0 to 4.2.2 could cause issues though so be warned that after you restore your data you could encounter FC's. Not saying it will happen but there is always a chance. Especially considering that there is a completely different partition layout between where you are and where you are wanting to go.

Well wouldn't he just flash 4.2.2 twice, then the gapps, and restore non-system apps and be fine?

Yes that would work perfectly as far as restoring apps. However the restore of user data for the apps so he has his last save point on a game or is already logged into Facebook might be a different story. With the use of the /datadata partition in JB it could cause issues. But it might not I really don't know.

Good point, didn't think of that. I would think the apps should be able to find the correct path though when restoring backups from ICS to JB...worst comes to worst just move it manually

I know that cm10.1 has a symbolic link, data/data >> datadata, that gets created when you flash it. I imagine that is only there to allow legacy settings to work.

Mmm i think that it's better download all again, after that generate a issues in device, because it's just why i'm changing my android version jeje to avoid problems and bugs.
So, i want just one answer, what it's better for me.
Make that backup and restore with all its problems, or just download all my apps again and lose the data.
Remember i am a noob in this world, and i think that i can afford the time of install all again.
Thank forum, it's just a lot of help for me.

Try both out. I would start by doing all your backups and then upgrade and try to restore your data. If it works then go with it. If you have problems resort to the other option.

You can use Titanium Backup to backup your apps

Problems with helium (non-premium)

Hi guys, I finally made the decision to root my z1,but first of all, I need to back it up. Problems are :
1. Sony pc companion backup is cr*p.
2. So I opted to using helium. Now, I got all settings up. Downloaded the pc counterpart of the app, downloaded the Android app from Google store, set up into debug mode. Helium requires my phone on PTP mode, which I do, but 1 second later, it comes back to MTP mode.
Did I miss anything? I tried downloading "drivers" from helium 's suggestions, but the one they have their is older than my SPCC.
Thanks in advance! I really look forward to rooting my device and getting it's benefits. Cheers!

Up?

I had the same problem, and I didn't find any solutions (I have Helium Premium). I ended up backing up my phone using Sonys software, just to be on the safe side. Rooting does not wipe your phone (at least not the method I used), but better safe than sorry. Unlocking on the other hand will wipe your phone!
After root, I installed Titanium and made all the backups I wanted. I also installed dual recovery (still without wiping the phone) and made a Nandroid bckup.
Titanium backup always work, use that in the future. It is worth the money, all others I have tried have been of no use

He's right. Move all files from internal memory to the PC and then use titanium backup. It's able to back up your entire phone including the application data. Duh. It can actually backup your entire device with system apps and it's data.

Licensing problems

I have a weird problem with some of my paid apps saying that they are not licensed... but only on AOSP roms. They all work on stock roms. Ive tried clearing Google Play app data.. nothing. I have automatic time checked.. still nothing. Anyone have any ideas?? Thanks

Well... id been having problems with it on every AOSP rom i tried. With each rom i tried i reinstalled my apps with Titanium Backup. So i reinstalled the rom ( CM12 Lollipop rom found here in the sprint forums ) and just installed all my paid apps from the store and unticked all the paid apps in titanium. I had a small problem with Next Launcher earlier but all is good now. Seems weird it doest happen on stock roms.

[Q] Note 4 lag and freezing problem

Hi I'm new to this site. I guess I'll explain it from the start. I got my phone rooted and my fingerprint scanner, heart rate sensor stop working, and phone keep freezing when typing or just in general. I switched the security from true to false and that fixed the heart rate sensor. But the freezing and fingerprint scanner is still broke. I need help to fix the freezing at least without having to reset my phone. Any suggestions? Please help.
Did you have finger print scans in memory when you rooted?
I'd look here first

Did you upgrade to Lollipop? If you did not do a clean install when you upgraded you need to factory reset your device. Sometimes going from kitkat to lollipop causes the apps to get hung up. Best way to fix it is to factory reset.

You can restore from a backup. I used titanium backup to restore my apps. Just don't restore system info. Worked fine after a full reset on my phone. Has been running great.

I would not use any app data from any back up. You are going from a deodex or odex rom to an art type. Eventually you will have bad battery problems.
