[Q] Xiaomi mi3 queries and buying guide - Mi 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello ppl, I will be in Beijing for a few days and I was planning to buy a xiaomi mi3 ,here are my few queries, I live in India and the operating 3G frequency here is UMTS 2100, so my doubt is if I buy a tegra 4 version mi3 ,will it work in India ,I only need 2g and 3G facilities(4g not yet operational in India),so will tegra 4 work or do I need to buy the snapdragon 800 version. My second doubt ,is the build quality decent...?(couldn't come to a conclusion by looking at the review videos). And since I'm new to the Beijing ,I don't know where to buy it here,so if anyone could provide me the details ,it would be of great help(is it better to order online on xiaomi website online or buy in a store)

xiami 3is a decent one. i just bought one. only available at its official site. its wcdma version provides international version 3g. u need to check if india use the same

the difference is the LTE bands, pakistan does not have any 4g (last time i checked), it has recently (last 5-8 years) got 3g so i think both should be ok
i am from the uk and when i go pakistan (sargodha and lahore) all of my uk phones work there, nokia, iphone, nexus 4 so it is up to you which you buy
We have 4g in Pakistan.

Which network? Also find out which LTE band they run on and check the Europe and USA product page on the google play store of the nexus 6. It has the LTE band numbers listed there.

Not sure I actually believe their price. They usually do this to get people to order and then email saying it was a mistake

Where can I buy the pro version in Hong Kong?
seems it's gone from aliexpress pretty much on all vendor shops. wonder what's wrong...
If you live in SEA, den it is easier to get it for sure.
I think most important is if their bands are compatible with most European countries...
Do they usually release and international version of their flagships or not really?

Okok, thanks!
People who buy Chinese phones like Xiaomi, usually get the Chinese version and install Google play or they wait for the international version?
Sent from my LG-D855 using Tapatalk
Doesn't really matter, if you get the Chinese variant you can always flash the international version of the rom, although their unlock bootloader process is a bit cumbersome. If you want it on the Chinese ROM it's not just the matter of installing Google Play, you are missing Google Services Framework so you need to get that first.

What if I buy the chinese version then apply for boatload unlock, then download international official ROM with google services framework?
I've been looking around to try and find out if it's available and can be used in Canada. I found the Canadian site http://xiaomi-mi.ca/ that claims to be an official Xiaomi site but every phone on there has a 5 star rating so I find this very suspect... I'm also not clear on the whole band thing as some companies discuss them as Band 1, band 2 and so on, and some use 1700/2100 MHz and so on. According to http://www.gsmarena.com/xiaomi_mi_5-6948.php the 1700/2100 band for LTE is covered.. I think it should work no problem if I read this all correctly.

Xiaomi MI 6X in europe?

Hello everyone. First of all, I apologize if this topic is not in this section, since I am new to the forum.
I write because I'm considering the purchase of a Xioami MI 6X. I live in Europe, and I know that this phone is a Chinese version. As it is not yet known if the international version will come out (Xiaomi mi A2), I decided for this phone. Why?, because the design, processor, memory, etc ... I know that the REDMI NOTE 5 is very close but I still prefer the MI 6X. The question is, since I live in Europe, and this phone goes with a Chinese version, how difficult would it be to put an international ROM ?, that is, given that on the xiaomi website the international ROM of this phone does not exist, I can install a ROM of any other phone? or it is imposible? And second, is it so serious that it does not have an 800 band for 4G? I have seen that the phone have the other two European bands for the 4G, but not the 800.
Thanks.
The only European store avaible are in France and Italy but they don't have that version of the phone for the moment and maybe they will put it in the future because is recent, for the band this are the supported band: Quad Band (850/900/1800/1900). Becuse isn't avaible the 800 band I suggest to change the model to buy for another from the same producer but with the features that You need it.

Hi,
For this phone it exists a translated rom from xiaomi.eu for each european language, I'm french and I'm not yet decided to buy this phone but I think I will. 290 Euros 6G 128G red version.
Xiaomi.eu uses chinese developper version, debloat it, add playstore and many features.
Updates comes to your phone through OTA weekly the most of the time!
It's very easy and fun, each week an update.
As the phone is updated weekly the phone seems to be more stable with this rom than... Stable global rom! ahah!
To install the rom you have to unlock the bootloader and install TWRP.
The most difficult is to unlock bootloader if you haven't xiaomi permission for your MI account. I had to use a browser trick with a chinese proxy to obtain this permission but you have to do this only one time for your account and can unlock three phones by month. For each new phone, you have to wait 3 days after linking a phone to your MI account in order to obtain authorisation to unlock the bootloader of the new phone.
[Edit] For the 4G problem, it isn't a real problem and sometimes it's an advantage to not have B20 (800Mhz).
In France, I live in a little village without 4G, most of small towns around me have the 4G with the B20 only. I've got a MI5C (withoutB20) and a MIA1 (with B20). The phone without B20 is more efficient because in small towns it turns automatically in H+ or 3G and I've got a very good connection whereas the MIA1 is in 4G with a very bad speed because all people are connected in 4G!!!!!!
When I go in a bigger town I've got 4G without B20.
Conclusion: Without B20 the internet connection is better because you don't use the same antennas as all other users!!!!
Aliexpress Global store has 6x global versions with B20 here

That model also shows FDD-LTE Band 4. Seems like a typo. Only mi 6x listing that has band 4.
Unless there really are different mi 6x versions/models.
4G should not be a problem
Now the A2 and the A2 lite will soon be available in Europe. I would recommend getting one of these devices. - You will pay a bit more, but You will get warranty. Nevertheless, I recently bought the 6X for my GF, she does not mind MIUI, which is the major difference between the 6X and the A2. You can get the 6X from China, and flash an xiaomi.eu ROM, and it works very well.
The major concern about 4G should not bother You that much. Check what bands does your operator use and support either on their website or on wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LTE_networks_in_Europe
if Your operator uses only B20, then the phone is not for You - the A2 should support it, tho.

Mi 6x stable in Europe
hi guys, I've bought a Mi 6x in China in May. (128GB/6GB on stock English MIUI 9.5.15.0) It's stable in Europe, almost 100% on 4G, because one of the bands is missing it switches to 3G in certain area's. I like the phone but want to turn it into an A2, haven't found out how to do that. If anyone knows, please let me know.
Hello, thanks for your info, I have recently bought a 6X and I would like to switch to french, could you please let me know if it's possible and how , I am an amateur in this field

French is not available at the moment, the only European language available is English currently
You can search at xiaomi.eu there You can find muli-language transtated roms, and I would say regular ota, plus beta miui builds.

Please share your experience...

Samsung Galaxy Note 9 N960FD Dual sim 6GB/128GB

Hello there,
It's my first post here. Currently I am using samsung galaxy a3 2017.
I want to buy note 9. There is couple versions available at eglobalcentral and I'm looking for unlocked and eu/uk version.
Currently I'm with three, but dual sim option is tempting since I travel a lot.
Do you know if version n960fd is free of career useless apps and if it will be working fine in Ireland? Lte vise it should be working to my knowledge but I wanted to ask for your advice.
Regards,
Rafal

i know 1800 mhz is Three LTE network, here in the UK as that's the band they purchased for 4G LTE i'm not sure about ireland. Also make sure you get the Exynos as it supports all LTE bands globally same for HSPDA, HSDPA+, 3G Etc,
Also im not sure about sim unlocked as i purchased my note direct from Samsung UK i have to make a full 5 min call in the UK/EU before i can use it in the asian region, or globally as there's a sticker on the box that warns me about that!
i aint sure if one would have to make the call in asia i.e Hong Kong for full 5 mins before it starts to work over here in the UK or in your case ireland,
as eGlobal is based in Hong Kong all is stock is for the Asian market...
i could be wrong i'm sure some XDA user will know the answer!
Hey, bump up on this thread.
I bought the model mentioned in the headline.
I did not try dual sim (or 2nd sim slot) in terms of LTE, but I have received a UK version of the phone from global central. It was 690 with shipping.
Everything works as intended and I'm happy with the device.

ROG 2 ZS660KL-I001DE support for B20 LTE

When I looking for Asus ROG 2 Phone in EU (with 128GB) I only find the ZS660KL-1A050EU. This version of the ROG 2 don't support FDD-LTE B20 aka 800MHz which means it is useless and you need to go for the 512GB version.
Now they sell in Germany a new 128GB version I001DE. I can not find any information about this version but it looks like this version support 800MHz LTE.
If someone got this version, can u confirm this?
