Hi All!
Today i bought an XPERIA SP after a long research about specs and Features. However, Turned out that the APPs are not Moveable to SD Card.
I have a 32 GB card Installed which i believe is Useless if you cannot use them for the Applications, Rather than having to stuff it all in Internal Memory and choke its speed down.
I wanted to know if there is a way to Install the Apps to SD Card. [Mostly large Games].
What is the easiest Possible way to achieve it?
Note: I know that there is a way by rooting it but i am trying to avoid it.
But if Rooting is the Only way i have, I need to know, Should i root it to the Latest version or the Current Build Version? (Noob at Rooting, Never Rooted any device before).
Or should i Update the Build Via Sony PC Companion to the Latest version then ROOT it?
Android Version: 4.1.2.
Build Version: 12.0.A.2.254.
Thanks!

Without root you can't put your data on the SD card. You can check out the android development section for rooting tutorials

If you want to root your phone don't update, because to root our phone (at the time) its only possible in 4.1 version, so if you update to 4.3 you would have to downgrade to root it and that can be a bit confusing.
About moving apps to SD card its not possible, if you root the phone and use a third party app to do so it wont work because the phone don't allow unfortunately... I recently install the cyanogen mod 11 kitkat to see if was a rom problem but it isnt the phone dont allow it.
If theres a way to move apps to sd i would like to now, but apps like move2SD... wont work
ps. sorry for my english

Will this Do?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2440375
You can use foldermount, but this app needs root. So without root you cant move apps or data from (big) apps to the SD-card. But with root foldermount works pretty good.

That will do (; and after you rooted and reflashed kernel, see if the phone charges when plugged without booting. I used my own firmware kernel for this and I didn't get the offline charging bug, but some others unfortunately did. Happy rooting

for now i dont see reason to root phone is work fine without being picky !!
According to Doom it will take a longer while

Why root? Debloat, adblock, exchange security, data backup & restore, adblock, there's totally plenty of reasons to have stock rooted as well. But yeah, wait and STFU it is.

I agree with you, in addition reason for rooting for me, it is to change the fallback fonts and sync the system time.
I just try to live with unroot one, it's hard for a moment, however, I am still satisfied the stock ROM.
And I am also waiting for "just root" without unlocking bootloader.

Update:
Japanese Xperia Z (docomo SO-02E) has been rooted.
Rooting exploit by goroh_kuh, EasyRootingToolkit by huhka. See instructions here:
http://blog.huhka.com/2013/03/root-xperia-z-so-02e-rootingkit.html
Caution:
By rooting, you will void warranties you have with docomo.
The tooting toolkit is still new, so there may still be unknown issues
If there are any problems, you are on your own in fixing them
Compatible with both 10.1.D.0.317 and 10.1.D.0.322 firmwares.
Enable USB debugging and Unknown sources. Run runme.bat, and follow screenshot instructions.
This is root only, it does not unlock bootloader and does not wipe DRM (BE2 still works after rooting)
From 2ch:
Running the root script may cause your FeliCa/おサイフケータイ to stop working. Deleting or renaming \data\usf (a directory created by the rooting script) reportedly fixes some FeliCa programs (such as モバイルSuica), but this has not been extensively tested. Additionally, the おサイフケータイ app will report "Services in UIM/USIM card are not available because the function is locked or inserted UIM/USIM card doesn't support the services."
Other Docomo-/Japan-only services (infrared, 1seg, etc) appear to still work correctly.
For further updates, please check huhka's blog, goroh_kun's twitter, xperia-freaks.org, or current SO-02E rooting thread on 2ch.

shouldnt matter as AFAIK running a complete repair operation with PC Companion should erase all rooting traces.
Great news! We can expect something similar for Z then now?
@edit
I read in comments it's working on Z . Anyone can confirm this ? Do you have NFC bug ?

First thing first, I'm a total newbie and English is not my native language. I'll try to explain my question as simple as possible.
A month ago, I bought an Xperia Z (C6603) and it had Android 4.2.2 (10.3.1.A.2.67) installed. I decided to root it by using:
DooMLoRD_Easy-Rooting-Toolkit_v18_perf-event-exploit
XperiaZ_C660X_KernelOnly_10.3.1.A.2.67.ftf
XperiaZ_C660X_KernelOnly_10.3.A.0.423_Generic_NL.ftf
These are the only 3 things that I use to root my device. I finally managed to root my device after lots of trial and error. So I don't know if I have CWM or unlocked Bootloader stuff after the root simply because I'm not an expert but one thing for sure, I've successfully root my device.
Recently, I noticed that there is Android 4.3 (10.4.B.0.569) update available for Xperia Z. Therefore, I really want to update my device from ROOTED Android 4.2.2 (10.3.1.A.2.67) to ROOTED Android 4.3 (10.4.B.0.569) but how?
I know that we have a lot of tutorials available on the forums and we got Google too but they are very confusing. So I hope someone could help me via this thread and I'll really appreciate it. Thanks!

For C6603: Download C6603.flashable.10.4.B.0.569.zip, SuperSU_fix.zip (1.1Mb) and C6603_10.4.B.0.569_Stripped.ftf (18MB), save it somewhere you remember;
2. Put 'C6603.flashable.10.4.B.0.569.zip' on (the external) SDcard1;
3. Put 'C6603_10.4.B.0.569_Stripped.ftf' inside the Flashtool/firmwares folder;
4. Create a backup of your phone in CWM or TWRP and don't forget to backup the contents of 'SDCard0';
5. Flash 'C6603.flashable.10.4.B.0.569.zip' in TWRP, after flashing the ROM also flash 'SuperSU_fix.zip',
do not reboot but go back to the main menu, then go to reboot->power off;
6. Flash everything in 'C6603_10.4.B.0.569_Stripped.ftf';
7. Reboot to system without clearing (dalvik-/)cache.
Hey all!
I'm eager to upgrade my Sony Xperia Z1 to the latest and obviously greatest Android 4.4.4, but I've recently installed so many apps, both root and non-root that I do not want to do this over again. I finally got Timeshift Video working (took me longer than it should have, I'll admit) and I just don't want to go through the process again. So the question is: is there a way to update while keeping all data from apps intact, and will all root apps from 4.4.2 even work on 4.4.4 still?
Thanks in advance!

In order to keep your apps just do not select data before flashing. Now for the root I rooted my phone with a very strange way. I flashed the .108 ftf and then with adb i flashed the doomkernel(v21) to my phone. Then I booted up my phone and enter one of the recoveries (TWRP) select reboot and before rebooting it will give you the option to install super user. After this i powered off my phone (in recoveries reboot options) and connected my phone in flash mode to my computer. With flashtool i went to flash the .108 ftf BUT I didnt wipe anything and i excluded everything exept the kernel. When this finished I booted up my phone and it was rooted.
I just say what i did do not blame me for anything as if you follow my way you do it with your responsibility.(press thanks button if i helped :angel: )
I know with Android 4.4.4 you cannot install apps on the microSD card (only pictures, videos, music, back-ups, etc.). But what about Android 5.0? Will I be able to install apps on the microSD card? Trying to see if getting a microSD card is worth it.
I tried cm12 for a while and I had no problem moving apps to sdcard... So I think we'll be able to!!

Thanks but I just got my phone last month and it's my first Android phone/experience. I'm not into modding/rooting right now so I'm referring to the stock Android 5.0 experience/capabilities.

There's no such thing as stock 5.0 on z3c yet
So far you can move apps on 5.0 to SD.
Hello everyone
I have now finally been able to root my beautiful Sony Xperia Z3 Compact. The bootloader is still locked. I did downgrade the Firmware in order to root the phone. Afterwards I made a backup of the DRM Keys via TA Backup. Additionally I updated the Firmware to 23.0.1.A.5.77. As the bootloader is still locked I did not install any kind of custom ROM and I am yet not planning to do so. The Sony ROM will probably do a good job. (My old phone is a Sony Xperia P which is now running with Root Sony's ROM since 3 years at least)
I am running on KitKat 4.4 and also not planning to change. I have a 64GB SD card in my phone as well.
Now my question:
Can I still use the encryption function or will this interfere or make problems because I have root (Bootloop)?
I am not planning to encrypt the SD card because I do not need encryption on the SD card but encryption for the Android System would be nice.
Thanks for your help guys :good:
Best wishes,
Dicey

I'd like to know this as well.
I tried this today. Left it encrypting and when I came back it said encryption had been interrupted and it then did a factory reset, after which I was unable to enter custom recovery.. As I had chosen to encrypt the SD I was left with an empty SD card too.
Somehow I kept root so I was able to install XZDualRecovery again and then restore from nandroid backup.
There's a thread on androidforums where Samsung owners have reported success with temporarily disabling SuperSU while running the encryption.

Anyone tried this method or found another way to achieve root + encryption? It's the only thing keeping me from rooting again.
