[Q] Is this a dead pixel? - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just bought this phone used from ebay
the good thing is I talked to htc chat and managed to get an repair order issued complaining about a dead pixel. but I am not sure if it really is a dead pixel and I dont want to spend 7 days without the phone just to find out this is not a dead pixel.
Can you tell me if this is a dead pixel and I should send this phone for repair?

Obviously more than one pixel is involved here. Get a magnifying glass. It's it debris behind the glass or is it actually discrete pixels?
Either way I bet they won't come back. Pursue whatever avenue you feel you must to get satisfaction.

What do you mean they wont come back?
Either way debris behind the glass or dead pixels both are covered under warranty right?
Thank you for replying!

I just meant I doubt they will suddenly start working correctly. If it bugs you and you are under warranty, go ahead and get it repaired. Good luck!

Ok I most probably will send it then
PS if it is just debris can I remove it myself?
Or is HTC the best bet?
PS I am not technically under warranty. It apparently expired on April according to one Customer Service rep
But according to another I am still under warranty and he made me a repair ticket. So I am guessing I will get a free service now even if I am not covered anymore

If it is only debris you cannot remove it yourself. As the process to open an HTC One is complicated and cannot be done outside of HTC. Also warranty as far as i know is usually a year long. So if your within that period you'll definitely get a free service as long as the phone is in good condition. Hope it gets sorted!. Cheers.

And mayb one of them wants to sell or change.

xmoo i can gladly trade it but why do u want it that desperately?...The final one is muuuuch better. Besides, its not worth it and as it has been already said, its just a back metal cover of the beta units sent along to us as beta testers.

Bubbles under the touchscreen

Today, I saw this under the touchscreen. It looks like some dust or air bubbles, which are under the touch area, situated directly above the Tegra 3 CPU so can it have something to do with the heat, which come from the cpu? The phone is 1 month old (bought 21/3/2013). I'm sending the phone to reclamation (and want new piece), but I'm afraid that this can happen again.
Have anyone same problem?

I don't think they would have noticed if I had been a bit more careful. They use Philips head screws and no "VOID" stickers.

Wow thats sucks guys, if any has or is gonna send it in with an unlocked bootloader i wonder if they will fix it. If any of these manufacturers would honor their warranties for non-software related issues with unlocked bootloaders id stick with them regardless.

[GUIDE][TUTORIAL] How To Replace The Nexus 4 Battery

Hey guys
Just simply sharing something very useful. I did not try this since i dont own a N4 but simply sharing this article for the love of the XDA community.
So you got a dead or worn-out Nexus 4 battery ? Replacing the defective battery is dead-simple – simply crack your phone open, pry the old battery out and pop in a fresh one. However, unless you want a broken hunk of glass, take a little time to prepare and buy some cheap tools, before getting started.
ALL CREDITS AND THANKS FOR SUCH A GREAT TUTORIAL TO www.MakeUseOf.com
I am just giving a simple overview of their article so, if you want an in-depth tutorial visit the website I mentioned above.
What You Need
T5 Torx screwdriver
#0 Philips screwdriver
Replacement battery
Pry tool or guitar pick (or thumbnail)
Anti-static gloves or wristband (optional, but recommended)
Hair dryer (optional, but highly recommended)
Anti-static pad (optional)
The total amount of this operation costs $30-40, including tools. It should take no more than an hour, if you’re super careful.

Where and What to Buy
Battery: You can find OEM Nexus 4 batteries for ~$20 USD on eBay.
Another possibility: Batteries sold on eBay could be used pulls from broken systems, so PLEASE be careful before buying.
The eBay seller listed it as brand new. Also, the date-of-manufacture showed it as a very recent build, so it might actually be an OEM component.
Does it void the warranty?
Yes. However, LG can’t tell if an N4 has been opened, unless you somehow damage it (quite easy to do). If you somehow caused physical damage while opening your N4, then you’ve voided the warranty. Please, for the love of god, take the following precautions :
Conclusion
Despite the rumors, the Nexus 4′s battery replaces easily. It simply requires a few simple tools and a little bit of computer disassembly knowledge. Even an idiot who slashes his fingers every time he opens a computer, can do it.
Anyone got a battery drained Nexus 4? You should simply return it instead of doing above stuff, if it’s under warranty. But if you’re no longer under warranty or out of the country, you may have to rely on yourself. In such an event, please exercise the greatest care, as potential for disaster abounds.

I've bought one from ebay but do not remember the seller, i saw that it has the lg logo, replace ones doesn't.
Have anyone succeeded to repair the device under warranty after this operation?

PSA: Google is offering a one time replacement on a cracked screen/water damage.

YMMV, but it appears as though Hammerhead devices you've purchased from Google Play Store that are cracked or ones that have suffered water damage are able to be replaced completely free. They'll put a hold on your debit/credit card, mail you a replacement and you send the old/broken/damaged one back.
Note: This is one time replacement is only available for folks who purchased their phones in the US and from the Google Play Store!

It seems Google doesn't have any more brand new devices and are getting rid of all the refurbished ones too before the next release. Lol.
@simms22 maybe you should give Google a call and see if they'll actually replace it
ふかつどう
too bad it's only for US :/
only to US customers and only to people who bought from the PlayStore.
I will be getting one because I was working out and accidentally set a weight down on my phone inside the towel and I damaged the digitizer and smeared the color.
I am thoroughly impressed, the entire process took about seven minutes! My "new" (refurbished) phone shall be at my doorstep tomorrow! Not bad El Goog, not bad at all!

It's not necessary. Google does not discriminate against rooted devices and it does not void Google's warranty.
