Htc media link & htc m8 - Sprint HTC One (M8)

anyone else got their media link and its not doing dual screen? only mirroring?..let me know what i gotta do...or sense 6 is not supported

I haven't used mine with my m8 yet, but it mirrors the screen unless you're playing a video. Only when playing video to the TV can you then use the phone for other things while it continues playing on the TV.
I'm not aware of any other dual screen functionality.

Video Out via HTC MediaLinkHD

You should be able to stream video if you have an HTC MediaLinkHD.
This will only work with videos/music stored locally on the tablet. It will not clone your display, so no surfing the web or games on the tv. Just streaming movies and music to a tv.
I was toying with it last night on my transformer prime. I tried bubble upnp, imediashare, etc... All of them would stream music no issues, but the video would always fail.
Then I found this free app, and every video I tested worked. In most cases, this worked better then the pairing between my evoLTE and the medialink.
If you search the play store for medialink , you should find an app called Wi-Fi Media by Cavium (wont show up when searching for Wi-Fi Media). Install it, choose your movie, and set the renderer to the medialink.
profit???

Of course I don't have the Nexus7 yet. But if anyone does, and has the medialink and wants to try it I don't see why it would be any different then my prime running AOKP.
This would be an expensive option if you don't own a newer HTC device and already own a medialink. But seems the option is there at least.
The no video output was more of a deal breaker to me then the storage, and that seems to be a non-issue now. If I could just find one in stock.
we can't have an app for make a mirror screen such as htc one x use 3 fingers to mirror the screen is not possible with a mod in next rom custom ?
I've been using the the media link and the Wi-Fi media app with my nexus 7 and must say it works well. We take it with us now just in case we need to keep the kids quiet with a film. The video quality at 720p source is very good and it hasn't stuttered once.

Don't know if I would have bought one though. I got mine free from phones 4U, when I got my one x.

I have one but mirroring kind of sucked and it was all that was available outside of the stock player and YouTube which actually sent the content via MediaLink (not just mirroring) on my HTC One X. I'll give it a shot with my Nexus 7 tonight. I was underwhelmed with the device using my HTC One X but I hope that it's better with the Nexus 7. Fingers crossed!
This should essentially be the same thing, a lot cheaper... once it releases.

Should have a beta out in the next 4 weeks, they are planning support for the n7.
Can anyone confirm if it works using play store movies that have DRM?

Can anyone provide a categoric answer on whether the HTC Media Link HD will play movies downloaded onto the Nexus 7 from the Play store that have DRM protection?
I think answering this single question will stop a lot of people hunting around and ultimately creating similar threads on the Nexus to TV issue.
Thanks.

How is this possible? At 1280x800 we have 1,024,000 pixels, at 32bit color depth that gives 32mbit per full screen image, so standard 60hz video would require just shy of 2gb/s... Wifi can't do anywhere close to 2 gigabit per second, 802.11n theoretical max is only 600 megabit and that's using 4 spatial streams which no consumer hardware supports... for most home users their max is going to be about 300 megabit/second using 40mhz channels and 2 spatial streams with a guard interval of 400ns (and even that is hard to achieve). At 300mb/s you'll get a frame rate of less than 10hz without compression.
So how the hell are they doing it?

Frustrating media playing issues

Hi all,
I've looked around but I guess we will have to accept the fact that the N7 falls short when it comes to media playing capabilities.
The other day me and a friend were comparing 2 awesome devices, my N7 and his S3.
The S3 handles most formats of video without any issues and even features an amazing PIP feature that lets you see videos on desktop or over other apps without lagging the system.
The N7 on the other hand can hardly play any worthy media formats. I downloaded some HD YouTube devices in mp4 format via tubemate app but couldn't play any of those with hardware and software rendering.
I couldn't even play my 720p movies that the S3 or the galaxy tab handles like a baby.
I'm guessing there might be some way to watch movies otherwise it seems an awful waste of the multi core processor and gpu.
Looking forward to your feedback / comments
Not really sure what's happening on your end, but I can play all files perfectly smooth. Though only up to 720p mkvs so far. I'm using BSPlayer by the way.
I've yet to find a video file I couldn't play, though I also haven't pushed past 720p mkv files. Mostly using MoboPlayer and the VLC Beta. What are you using for a video player?
Yeah, you have to install bsplayer litehttps://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bsplayer.bspandroid.free

Just got my nexus yesterday (first android device ) and tested a few media players, there are a number that have hardware decoding and can play pretty much anything.
I've settled on using "DicePlayer" as its the only one I found that still supports DTS, it also supports smb natively so no file manager needed.
You need to install "DicePlayer" and "DicePlayer Plugin" if you want DTS then you need to follow the advice in the thread below (simple process)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1769799
Having no trouble at all playing 1080p mkv over smb very impressed
OK now on sure there's something wrong at my end. No wonder I was so frustrated. I have tried all of the above players but not able to play high def files. My device is stock, unrooted and otherwise running awesome. YouTube HD works great but if I download the same video, it doesn't play past a few seconds on software rendering. On hardware rendering there's no video.
Do me a favor, download Katy Perry's Wide Awake video using the tubemate android app. Select a high resolution and see if you can play it. Thatwill answer a lot many questions
Agree on DicePlayer, it has always been the best for me on tegra 3 devices.
The video playing capability on the nexus should exceed that of the s3. Thats where the quad-core comes in handy.
If you want the "PIP", or floating video window on the nexus look for Stick It on the play store.
There was a video on youtube that I cant find now. They tried to see how many stick it windows they could get opened before the prime was out of memory and gave up. They got to somewhere around 14 or so seperate windows all playing different videos. good times.

I'm not installing an app I don't want but I did download "Katy Perry's Wide Awake" in 1080p from the KatyPerryVEVO channel, played it over smb from my pc in dice player and it worked fine and was hardware decoded.
Of course you need "DicePlayer Plugin" for HW decoding

If you mean you can only find "DicePlayer plugin for tegra2" that's what I was referring to.
I cant post links yet on here due to my low post count
Yup. OK installing the tegra 2 plugin and retrying. Will update in a bit

OK, installed the tegra 2 plugin and still the same issue. The player stops at exactly the same spot, around a minute or so. Tried with 2 different videos. I'm guessing now that there is something wrong in the app that I'm using to download these videos since its difficult to imagine that such a great device would lack here.
Funny thing is, same videos are playing flawless on my Desire HD

Sounds like you have an app installed that is causing problems.I know the ultimate rotation app many use to get a tablet ui caused the same effect on my n7.Once I got rid of it I have never had another problem with any video.I use the BS player and it plays about anything I have come across. jmo
I dont have ultimate rotation. I use adw to get landscape home. Tried BSplayer too but let me try again just to be sure

I suggest you look at MX Video Player with the ARMv7 codec pack. Both are free and available on the market. Plays everything I've ever thrown at it. Every once in awhile something looks funky and to resolve it I switch it to S/W decode mode.
Anyways, I hope that helps.

YouTube Stutter

Anybody experiencing YouTube audio stutter during playback? Doesn't happen on every video, but I can go on one video, play it, it not happen then press back and go on the same video and it'll happen.
This issue was pressent on the HTC One X last year.
Also, sometimes when I go back into YouTube it re-logs me back in, possible compatibility error?

My YouTube account relogs me back in every so often and I'm using the SGS3 with 32gb of int memory. Other people on different phones are having the same issue with signing in to YouTube.
Vinny
The signing in bit happens for me. The stutter does but that may be due to my device having a faulty speaker.

HTC Media Link HD issues

I just bought a media link hd so I can use my phone wirelessly in my jeep. Seems to work properly but I'm having an issue streaming video. I'm only able to mirror my phone but media link is supposed to allow you to play video on second screen while using your phone for normal use. Same issue @ home connected to tv. Not sure if this is a rom issue or issue with the One. I'm on Stock With Goodies 5.5 v1.42. Also I used it with my wife's Evo 4g LTE & does what it's supposed to do. Please help, I really want this to work without just mirroring

HTC One m7 audio issue

Hello, I have a n HTC one m7 on Insert coin revolution 6 at latest software. But there's an issue I can't seem to fix. Sometimes when I stream a video off the net it doesn't have any sound. Just plain picture. At first I thought it was a problem with the video but then I decided to test it. I opened the same video on a different phone and the audio had no issue at all. I tried turning off beats audio and it didn't solve anything. I tried using different video players and no solution either. Can someone please help.
