So I've been lurking and learning a lot on these forums. I have tried 3 different ROMS (wiping everything in-between) and none of them seem to be able to send text messages that need to be automatically broken up into more than one message. Instead it just fails. Shorter messages send just fine.
I am currently running the newest Zen Aria release I downloaded from here on 9/2/10.
I Had the same problem with CM 6 and another ROM I can't remember. I was hoping Zen would fix the problem since it is a 2.1 release with Sense.
Any ideas as to what I need to do to fix the problem?
Thanks from noob.
Are you using the stock messenger? If so, try Handcent. I know that it will send 160+ character messages on CM6, as I just sent a grocery list to the wife.

Thanks for the quick reply! I just tried Handcent, nice program. Unfortunately, I still would get a failure notice whenever I tried to send a message with more than 160 characters. Any more ideas out there?
In Handcent, do you have the option turned on to split 160+ character messages?
Menu -> Settings -> Send message settings -> Split 160
By default I believe this is turned off, so you have to turn it on.
This is a known issue that occurs on any rom except for cdma based sense roms. The Aria port is from a gsm phone, the frameworks are different. The cdma hero roms have something in the background that auto splits messages, AOSP and GSM ports lack this built in functionality so you must use handcent or chomp and turn on splitting in the options.
So I wanted to see if it was a problem with the ROMS, so I installed the
[ROM] Sprint 2.27.651.6 STOCK and it worked fine.
Then I came back here and read your messages.
I didn't check for an option in handcent DOH!
And I figured it must of been a ROM problem and you confirmed it for me.
Thanks for all your help!!
When replacing the stock "SecMms.apk" app with any other AOSP messenging app, or modded samsung "SecMms.apk", i have no problems in terms of functionality with messaging... sending and receiving works fine with no force closes..
However when i receive new messages, every new message comes in it's own new thread and never groups up...so multiple messages from the same person appear in multiple thread of their own. This doesn't happen in the stock app...at all
The reason for changing is i need emoji support and the stock MMS app does not support this
Currently using PANDORIAM ROM with perseus kernal if that makes any difference?
Anyone have any ideas why? Thanks
I had something similar when I went from HTC Sense to AOSP, when I restored SMS from SMS Backup & Restore.
I rectified it by opening the XML file and checking to make sure the phone numbers are the same (no spaces, consistent international prefixes etc) and then it was fine.
It seems that some SMS/MMS applications are more sensitive than others in how it defines a 'new' or 'unique' conversation.
Last night I installed the Sense Six version of Android Revolution on to my AT&T One. Everything MMS seems to be working fine including SMS and using data. I've verified that the APN settings are correct and I've tried using different messaging apps(Stock, Hangout, and Go SMS). Does anyone have advice or a solution to this problem?
Hello, I'd like to know how to send SMS to multiple people and have the option to "split" them so they can go in their own inbox after. I used to be able to with the Trickdroid mod. But I am unable to on arhd or maximushd(my current rom)
I really like the default App. But if a side app could do it that would be nice too!
Also is there any big downside to going back to trickdroid? A bit old but still not much has changed since
I currently have HTC one m7 Sprint. I just update it with sense 6 prior to I could come across a picture on fb or in a text and long press to have the option to save it or share it through email, sms, fb and a lot more. I'm unable to do that now. Pressing on a pic does nothing. Any idea how to make it do so again?
