Hi, to all
I have a brand new RAZR i with a peculiar charging problem.
When I plug in the phone with the original charger (850mA) the phone only charges up to 98% (Even if I left the charger plugged for 12+ hours)
I tied with other charger (also rated 850mA) and the phone charges up to 97%
Next I test it with a tablet charger (rated 2000mA) And the battery charged to 100%
Also if I plug the phone in my computer USB it charge to 100%
Is my battery faulty? or I need a 2000mA charger for this phone?
Hi, mine also charging only to 97%. Sometimes it charges to 100% on original charger, sometimes not. I read that it's some security thing to avoid overcharging battery but I'm not sure.

If the Ri reaches 100% it stops charging and start using the battery instead of charger...
So if u look a few hours after charging is complett it will have lost a few percent of battery...
example: (charging over the night)
10 p.m. = 25% (plug in to charger)
2 a.m. = 100% (stops charging and uses battery)
6 a.m. = 97% (used 3% battery in 4 hours)
if its pluged into a pc it will charge to 100% and stays at 100%.

So. it´s Normal?
Then way it charges at 100% with a 2000mA Charger ?
This behavior occurs even if the phone is off while charging.
Also my phone came with jelly bean 4.2 out of the box...
Strange, maybe You missed 1 and You have 4.1.2 like everyone else??

I doubt that, but if u are certain that u have 4.2.2(1), can u make a system dump

Ok so I have my nexus one and I did the battery calibration more then once.. I had a fully charged battery and took it off the charger for 15 minutes? Went from 100% to 95%
I come back on the computer and plug my phone up to the USB charger. So I come from 95% to 93% how is that possible..?
I am going to try my spare battery see if it does the same.
I am running the latest CM8 test 5.
It cuts of battery when is it 100% charged, waits till its gets to 90% then charges again

Really, I see..
Hello,
For the last week I've noticed that in the morning when i unplug my phone from the charger the battery percentage shows 82%, although the phone was connected over the night with the charger.
The idea is after the battery is fully charged it begins to drain, but never when i unplugged the phone in the morning (after a night spent plugged with the charger) the battery was drained (or so drained).
If i don't unplug the charger when the battery is fully charged, the battery starts to drain.
I've used the home charger, car charger and the usb.
Did this issue happened to someone else?
This issue happened because I've deleted the battery stats?
Sorry for my english.
This issue happened because I've deleted the battery stats
Unlikely back up data and factory reset as first step .
jje
1. Do a factory reset
2. Turn off phone
3. Charge till full
4. Delete Battery stats
5. Drain till autoshutdown
6. Charge till full again.

yes, i'm on gingerbread 2.3.3 (darky 10 5.3), and i don't know why is happening this because i've installed the new rom with the battery full, or maybe i thought that the battery is full.
i'll try to recalibrate the battery and see if it works.
I have the same problem. I am on gingerbread as well
Just plug in again till it says charged and do it again after, mine is the same jvb.

Did you try to calibrate the battery? Mine discharged from 40% to 0% in a peir of hour till I used this: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.nema.batterycalibration

ok, tks, i'll follow your advice and use this app.
When I charge my phone and it says the battery is full and 100%, but after I unplug the charger, I only get 98% of battery. It is not really a problem but i'm just wondering if anyone else has this also.

Seems to be phone battery calibration, happens to me too. Try not to unplug the charger immediately after 100%, let it overcharge for few minutes more.
Sent from my LG-P970 using Tapatalk
Also happening to me... It's because battery calibration...
This is the normal behavior of overcharge protection.
imagine you battery is charged till 100%, the overcharge protection now disable charging till the battery is loosing a few % of its charge, but the "battery memory" doesnt recognize this respectively doesnt refresh its state so your battery indicator will always show 100% until you unplug the phone.
if you unplug the phone at 100% it might be, that the battery memory is refreshing after loosing one more % of charge and now recognize, thats it wasnt at 100% at all and show you the current charge.
e.g. if you charge your phone when its off-state, this behavior shouldnt take place and the phone should charge till exactly 100%. important for recalibrating the battery.
Here, if you have root use this
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.liteup.calibratebattery
You can also load up clockwork recovery anf clear battery stats.
If no root access, fo the following.
1.Power on let fully charge
2.turn phone off while still plugged in
3. Remove battery and power cord and push power button for 5 secs
4. Replace battery amd power cord
5. Let fully charge again.
Once charged, power up while pluged in, once phone is fully loaded un plug and monitor battery,
None root battery calibration should be finished.

When it happens to me... I inmediatly replug the charger and wait... the second time I umplug I get 100% and It seems to repair the issue for the future charges.
i noticed this too! sometimes i do get 100% after charging. But most of the times its 98% immediately after unplug! And i have my battery calibrated too!:/
same issue
any solution for this guys?. I've calibrated my battery so many times and it is not fixing the 98% charge when unpluggin
mine's not...
try screen-on charging...
go to settings>deveLopment>check stay awake(charging)
if you're in Gingerbread version (2.3.4) when battery reached 99%, you"LL need to wait 1 more hour to make it fuLLy charged...
that's it!
tried and tested by most android users...
just charge it without using to avoid excessive heat of your device... :good:
What about first time using battery? Charge the battery 100% first or let it drain to 0% then fully charge?
I bought 2400mah battery, but cant get significant performance, fully charged first time use..
I think you were ripped off.
we will miss you Nicholas.... /s
If your going to buy an aftermarket battery. You get what you pay for. I ordered a mugen 1800mah delivered in 4 days from Hong Kong. My synopsis Bloody brilliant!
Waiting for my Jiayu g2s to be delivered
Hi
I'm new and this is my first thread.
After I rooted my phone I have an issue with charging my battery.
When I started the phone after the root I had a 100% battery, after I was playing and using it I plugged it in when I was going sleep.
After the whole night my phone charged from around 12% to only 60%, and then after I was using and draining the battery nearly to minimum(around 5-7%) it and left it for a couple o hours and it charged to 59%. Sometimes it charges a bit more but the whole process is really slow comparing it to the stock rom charging(it was taking lik 3-5 hours from 0-100%).
I rooted my phone with ivendor's rom from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1825260
I was using CWM 6.0.1.2.
I would like to ask for any solutions for my problem, for now I want to drain it to 0 and then leave it again charging for a couple of hour maybe a whole night.
It's a bug. Sometimes is occures and sometimes not.
You could flash castagnaIT kernel and try again.
Just installed the kernel.
1st thing I noticed is a performance increase.
I'll gonna post what's the situation of battery tomorrow.
Ok, After a whole night of charging my phone only got to 68%, then when I was charging it when it was turned off It charged to 85% and when I turned it on it stopped to charge even with the AC plugged in and the icon is showing that it's charging.
Any solutions ? Please help.

I get a similar issue. When on stock I was always getting 100 %. Then I flashed CM9 and I randomly get 100 % after all night recharge.
If you are not afraid of switching ROMs, try a different one and let us know if it solved the problem because as mrjraider said

Ok.
I was charging it turned off. It charged to 100%. I'll gonna test it today one more time with charging it when the phone is switched on.
If it fails I'll gonna get back to my stock rom and test it and try again with a battery charge to 100%.
Also remember that the phone wont charge completly due to safety of your battery..
Most of the time it recharged to 98 percent

Yes I know but the indicator in the phone 'has that in mind' so it shows 100% but its really 98 i know. When I was analyzing that battery graph I saw that the battery is charging really long. If I'm reading it right it takes the same amount of time to charge it as to drain it when using it.
Screen is attached. I was charging it through the wall charger.
It's polish language
Any opinions ?
Make your battery empty 0% !
Try to turn on the phone after empty battery !
and make sure that the battery is empty ....
Just connect your charger without turn on you phone....
charge your phone for 9 hours !
Then , take the charger out and turn on your phone !
Try... this steps may it help you

I think that the solution was USB debugging. When I turned it off the phone is normally charging full and works perfectly.
Hey everyone! we are all using a li-ion battery » when we unplug our device from cable it will turn automatocally to 99%... I'm sorry folks, i don't like this feeling neither never havimg 100%...

sad but true. it would be nice to have an endless batterylife
i have the same issue with thebattery

Try another rom. It was the solution in my case.

Ahh.... just turn it off. Charge it fully( 3hrs at max). Got to recovery and wipe battery stats. Then drain it completely, and then recharge it fully.again. Then it will most probably go till 100%

88% full charged battery
Hi, is someone solve this problem. On my alcatel idol 6030X with off phone battery is 100% changed, after power on show 88%. When charging with power on phone, after 88% charging stop. What to do?
Hi bros, before sorry for my very bad English...
I try to explain me well as I can...
When I charge my Xperia Z switch on, charge go slow, until it stops... After some nights of charging (about 8 hours) I find it not fully charged (at very casual percentage).
When I charge it switch off, it charge fully to 100% in normal time and I see that if I reboot it (so I switch off and after switch on) before start night charge, it doesn't have problems and get a normal charge to 100%.
Why I have this problem? And what I can do?
I flashed to 4.2.2 es version and I have not problems, days after I get root (doomlord easyroot) and cwm and I started to have this problems... So I reflash with full wipe to my 4.1.2 ita unbranded but the problem is there yet...
Wait your answer and remember I said u before that I have an horrible English

sorry
not so clear on some of your issues
but as i know
some people complain about charging 100% turn off, only to find it is not 100 after boot
well, as far as i know
Battery of Z is not so stellar
for me I accept that the "simple" act of booting up can eat up the battery
(i put "" in the simple, as I dont think it a simple process, screen uses batt, the vibration, the internals... all uses battery)
heck
even when charging, the phone is slowly but surely draining the batt
I narrow it down to two condition
1. the app uses too much processing power plus the screen is a battery hogger, thus the charger is insufficient to cover the usage
2. more likely is the issue of heat where extensive usage of the phone generates too much heat and activate safety system such as cpu throttling and to some extent stopping the chargin process (actually seen cases where my phone heats up and the battery drops like flies, but when cooled the back with a heat-sink, the drop is lessen
Are you using a stock charger because the stock kernel will only charge at 500ma with a unknown charger (China, Japanese import)
Official charger is 1000 or 1500 ma
XZ Dock is 2000ma
Try using a official charger or even the XZ dock, I had the same problem that I would get battery down to around 15% put it onto charge and then go to bed to only wake up and find my phone only charged to around 60%. I got round it with a Sony charger and a dock

Hi, im using charger included in its box.
When i charge it without a reboot (after 20/24 that it has been on and i dont switch off it) battery charged at some random percentage between 60% and 95% and back over is hot.... today i dont reboot it and try to charge with battery widget on so i can see history battery how proceeding maybe to get more informations about it...
I have the same problem. Original stock ROM, original charger, it goes till 95 % and it stops, the LED shows green as it is fully charged.
Since I have it for few days I will bring it back to the service.
