I know that installing custom-ROM (ie. null) enables bluetooth tether.
But for some reason, I prefer to stay in stock-ROM and I want to use bluetooth tether by modding system(or...3rd-party app?).
Q. How can I enable bluetooth tether on stock-ROM(rooted)?
(Kernel? Binary? Library? Framework?)

You need to add the Bluetooth internet profile

So...How can I add it?
I'm using Google Nexus 5 and I don't have any tethering restriction on phone.
Adding full-settings app on system app doesn't work. It show the checkbox for bluetooth internet, but its not working.

Thanks

As an alternative to WiFi direct I recommend You this app:

It's way better than WiFi direct

talking about wi-fi direct alternatives, i would like to ask here for more wi-fi direct alternatives as i am on PA, also should the other person also have same app to be able to transfer through that app? or is that i can use this app and other person can still receive it via wi-fi direct?
Yes, the other person has to have this app installed.
But trust me it's worth of it.
The app works like this: receiver makes an WiFi access point (app does that automatically) and the other phone just connects.
Some other apps :
WiFi file sender
Hoccer (maybe spelled wrong)
Bump.
But as far anyshare is the best
Try it

Nah, I don't think so. Only original wifi direct can connect. I haven't seen any other app to send via WIFI direct.
Just send Your friend (or whoever You want to send files) anyshare and You're ready to go.
While I'm sending from my note to sgs2 the transfer is ~1.3MB/s and it's much easier in use. Wifi direct sometimes has problems with connecting, custom ROMs don't support it well. That's why I have used WIFI direct like 6 times in my life.
Just give it a try
Never knew of these apps...do they work on other phones as well? Thanks ! Will give them a try :beer:

Yes, they work on other Android phones. Idk what the minimum required version is but I think it's 2.3+

I asked how to use wifi direct. Here's their response:
" I understand your concern on the WiFi direct file transfer and the icons on the status bar. Currently the Wi-Fi direct function is not available, but will be enabled in a future upgrade. Until the update is available, you are still able to share files using Bluetooth."

I've been able to use Superbeam without a WiFi connection, but it was a bit slower. Just answer "no" to the question about being on the same WiFi network.
hello, just wondering if anyone manage to work the tethering? I tried the foxfi app but no luck, even the es file manager app under net manager option didn't work, haay

Foxfi works fine for me. When you get the pop up telling you to contact att press the home button instead of tapping ok. The hot spot stays active this way

It stays active but did you actually connect to it and surf the Internet?

Foxfi doesn't work on and it connects but surfing the Internet is a no go we need an alternative.

Yea with a grandfathered unlimited plan so an actual tethering plan from at&t isn't offered to me. I'd be more than happy to pay the small fee if it were even offered though...

Yesterday I tried feverishly to get foxfi to work with no luck even doing it exactly as op had done. So now I see this thread and figure okay ill try again.... and guess what.... it worked... The only thing I can think of that I didn't do yesterday is I rebooted the phone this morning. ..

I use EasyTether and it works great for my needs.
You have to enable USB Debugging mode in order for it to work. I had a heck of a time finding it, so here is a quick howto...
From home, press "Apps" menu, press "Settings", press "General" tab, press "About Device", press "Build number" seven consecutive times and you should get messages about having "Developer Mode" being turned on. That's it!
Hit back and you should now see a new "Developer options" selection in the menu. Press "Developer options" and just check mark "USB debugging" if you want to enable it.
Does EasyTether support wi-fi tethering or mobile hotspot?

No, only USB and Bluetooth... I haven't found a non-root solution for WiFi yet.
You can Bluetooth tether it to another android device/tablet...
FWIW, Foxfi is working on my AT&T GN3. As others have said, just hit the home button when the popup appears. Also, I've noticed when connecting with my laptop, full internet isn't available for the first 30 seconds or so, so just give it time...
Subscribed for Samsung Wifi HotSpot Option = )
yep confirmed working with foxfi, the thing is I always need to setup the password everytime I activate the foxfi to work the secured wpa2

Do you need root to use Foxfi for tethering? This is to use the note 3 as a hotspot right?....meaning that I am connecting my other tablets to the note 3 and using its lte data?

Did you guys try any tethering widget?? for AT&T Galaxy S4 wifi tethering doesn't work directly but if you install any tethering app it will work.
Here is the one I've tried from Play store and its free.
'Tethering Widget' by HI-DEVELOP
Install the app and look for 'Tethering (full)' .
once you add this widget click thering widget(make sure you click the Wifi icon not the USB icon'.
This should enable wifi tethering.
Let me know if it works or not..
Now that we have root, can we just freeze tetheringProvsion under titanium backup & use the native app?
What app do you use for a wireless hotspot app that's compatible with all devices?
Sent from my 831C using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I use the native app.
I think he means the native one where you have to pay for it..........might have to root your phone and hope someone can hack/modify that setting.

You can DL the profile from that link. Put in SD/tasker/profiles folder. Then you can import that into tasker...
