[Q] Hi there. (question about kernels) - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, again. Well its a bit serious question, is it possible to port m8kernel to m7 phone? (and get work all gestures of sense6) not with elementalx or sense6toolbox. If its possible, can i know how?

Nope, not possible to "port a kernel" from an S801 device to a one with S600. Is it possible to implement directly into current custom kernel, but I think there is a wait now for source code.

[HELP!]Need a kernel/ROM with DM_CRYPT/LOOPBACK

Hi again,
I need to find a kernel that has DM_CRYPT included/enabled. Is it possible to find that, just kernel and stay on stock GB? Or do i have to flash a custom rom, if so, which do have DM_CRYPT? Hope someone can assist me quickly, since this depends on wether if i'll keep the note or not...
Thanks!
it would be kernel related not rom related, you would have to see if a dev woudl put this into a kernmel for you but why do you need it?
Some apps need it. And i need them. I heard that all Honeycomb roms have it, so i guess ICS too. But i'm not gonna take risks since i might return it. And i don't have much time... How am i supposed to i "contact a dev" to request that? Is that a request board? If i'm alone to request it won't happen anyway.
Abyss kernel (v3.1) is compiled with CONFIG_DM_CRYPT=y . Since there is nothing about it in the changelog, I expect the latest version also has this option enabled.
Thanks! I'm gonna try it then. But what's difference between CW Touch & RedPill? I know CW Touch of course... But not RedPill. Anyway, if i flash this, Custom Rom Manager (from CF-Root) won't work anymore, eh? I can switch kernel, no risk? If anyone know other kernel with DM CRYPT , please post! ^^
PS: If it's just a line to edit "CONFIG_DM_CRYPT=y" then can't i just do it somehow on any kernel?
EDIT: I installed 4.2 and the app which required dmcrypt still refuse... If it was loaded, then should work directly, eh?
I'm sorry but i forgot a thing : "Loopback device" is required too, i guess this is some setting in the kernel..? Or is it something else? If so tell me what please Abyss doesn't work, i tested 3.5 too (can't test older since megaupload's dead... If you have links...) :X

Logo2Menu via Trickster MOD

This is probably a stupid question, but can Logo2Menu be enabled via Trickster MOD if the ROM/kernel doesn't already have support for it? I see the option for it in there, but I'm running a custom kernel at the moment so I have it already anyway.
All the newest Sense ROM's are running stock kernel by default and don't offer Logo2Menu unless you install a custom kernel, which are all based on older source and have a few problems (like lack of IR blaster support and video playback issues). I'd try it, but I won't be able to until the end of the day, so I figured I'd ask first in case anybody knew.
In case anybody was curious, the answer is "no". Without the custom kernel, there is no option to use Logo2Menu... -.-

[Q] CyanogenMod on stock kernel

Hi!
I was wondering if it would be possible to run a CM userland on a stock kernel (Yes I am one of those fools who bought a device with "bootloader unlock allowed: no").
This has been done in the past for other phones and apart from delivering a CM experience to locked phones this would also allow for a working Bravia engine on CM. Sure there would be some limitations when running such a setup (e.g. because of certain kernel modules not being available), but Sony seems to update the official firmwares at a acceptable pace, so there are fairly recent official kernels available: Most recent stable CM is based on 4.2.2 as is Sony's most recent firmware.
I can hardly estimate how problematic other aspects (ABI version mismatches, etc..) might be when trying this, but I remember CyanoSpaceMod for the XU which worked for devices with locked bootloaders. It was a working CM9 and implemented CWM in the same manner as the dual recovery on the XZ for locked bootloaders running on the stock kernel.
All in all it seems to me that all the building blocks are there, but I have no experience in building CM, so I cannot do this on my own, I need some guidance.
Would it be enough to simply build CM for the prebuilt stock kernel as outlined here, even if it meant that tehre would be no CWM support initially? The kernel itself can easily be extracted from a stock rom...
Any help -- even just an educated guess -- would be appreciated.

Could you point me to somewhere, where I can find an elaboration on the subject so I can educate myself?
Why is the XZ so much different than other Sony phones? Or is it simply because Sony was so forthcoming in open sourcing everything they legally can, fostering kernel hacking so that the CM kernel now differs greatly from the stock kernel?
In that case I can fully understand that major changes in the CM base would be required to make it run on the stock kernel...
(I am actually just asking out of curiosity, since I got an unlockable device yesterday )

Questions (S-Off, TouchWiz - yes TW, dual booting)

Hi All,
I have a few questions.
1) I have cyanogenmod on my HTC One, I was wondering do I need to get S-Off, it is currently S-on.
1a) Why would someone need s-off ?
1b) Is there any benefit for me getting s-off ?
2) Is it possible to dual boot the htc one, I currently have TWRP + Cyanogenmod 10.1.3 (stable).
3) Is it possible to get a samsung rom w/ touch wiz on the htc one ? I really want the multi-window/multi-app feature. This is the rom I would be dual booting, as cyanogenmod would be my daily driver, and touchwiz at night so I can youtube/nexflix + browse
Thanks All,

1) For the cyano you don't need the s-off.
1a) It's better for the modding, and for the warranty.
1b) You can change firmware, splash screen and much more when in s-on you can't
2) Yes, see here or here.
3) If someone will port all stuff (framework, TW, etc) you can, but i think nobody will do this.
4) This thread will be in Q&A Section, i already ask a mod for port it.
Thanks, is there any solution to my multi-window concern ? Only thing I really care about is netflix & youtube with the browser on the bottom half

Nope.
Nobody have ported the multiwindows because require a lot of framework changes and it's very difficult for it for devs.
You have to buy a samsung for the multiwindows
p.s. Use the thanks button if you want thanks
As far i know youtube can be played floating on top of browser. Better than multi-window.

[q]Unable to use camera

hello, sorry to bother.
quick question
I'm using minimal os and since I'm a jackass I decided to use attack11 kernel.
Now i know that I'm running LP and that this kernel is for MM pls don't kill me YET.
I'm having troubles with the camera and just want to know if the kernel is what is causing trouble. idc about camera is not important for me at all, I prefer to use sweep2wake+sweep2sleep over the camera.
any way just wanted to confirm my theory and ask if there is possible fix or way arround these problem is possible :good:
cheers
looking foward DU mm rom hope it happens :fingers-crossed:
If you want dt2w use this one it should be compatible with lollipop http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g-2014/development/kernel-revkernel-wip-oc-uc-dt2w-s2w-t3055295
