Hello all,
I've encountered an issue with Google Play Music and ARHD 71. When using this rom I cannot download music. (Keep on My Device) Everything gets queued up and never downloads. I did not encounter this at all on ARHD 6.1 GPe, ARHD 53 or ARHD 62, only on ARHD 70 and 71.
If wifi is turned off music is downloaded via the mobile network. If I turn wifi on while the queue is processing the download immediately stops with a "Can't download music right now" error. Turn wifi off and everything starts up again without issue.
This happens on two separate wifi networks (home and work) and no other app exhibits any issues while on wifi. Any help would be appreciated.
Phone firmware: 5.11.401.10
Kernel: ARHD stock
Google Play Music version: 5.5.1511

Same problem here and also with Standard Music Player. With and without ProjectERA installed. Perhaps we should post this in the ARHD thead but I think the Admins really want us to Spam to get 10 post...

Well Mike just posted that 71.1 will be out today, perhaps we could gossip about that to get to 10.
I don't believe this issue was on his radar, there was some other reason he was posting a point release, still there's hope.
There is one guy who posted this issue in the ARHD thread. I sent him a private message to let him know he's not alone.
Yes, same problem here. Posted on ARHD thread, but things get quickly lost in there.
Been trying to figure out what's changed but can't. Even went supercid to see if that helped, but no.

Perfect, than there is something in the thread. The problem is that simply afk-replacing doesn work. 70.0 didn't work as well. I hope the fix would be as easy as the SuperSU fix
EDIT: Okay the 71.1 Update doesn't fix it. Only workaround I know is using PowerAmp.

No it doesn't. I have went back to 62.0, because I can't do without google+ autobackup for photos.

Just so I can confirm, the known failing programs are Google+ Photo Backup, Google Play Music downloads and Google Play Book downloads. All products work as intended over the mobile network if wifi is disabled. If wifi is enabled none of the applications upload or download.
Is this correct?

Good. I'm going to stay on 71.1 (don't really take a lot of pictures) and continue to test. I'll post updates here of the trial and error. Once I hit ten posts I'll add another voice to the official ARHD thread. We can't be the only three people having issues.
I've been having similar problems with Google Music and Google+ Autobackup. I managed to fix the Photo Backup issue for now by clearing Google+'s cache and data from Settings. The Google Music issue still persists, though.

Try changing the Photo Size setting inside g+ to Standard. All I did was: Clear cache, clear data, open g+, change photo size to Standard, and press 'Back up all' below it, and it worked. Also tried it on my sister's HTC One with ARHD 71.0 and it fixed it.

This has been going on for 3 days now, and I haven't been able to find any topic on this so far.
For the last 3 days, I cant' get any market updates, or new market apps. It just says "starting download", but won't actually download. I have uninstalled/reinstalled Market App (Vending), did a wipe, nothing seems to fix this issue. I even installed a new ROM fresh.
Has anyone come across this issue? Solutions? Am I the only one?
Using Cyanmod - 4.2.12.2
Haykuro DangerSPL (Rogers)
One more Note - Noticed a comment here in the Q&A about Metamorph causing "market issues", but they don't actually describe what the issue is. I did recently install it, changed my power control widget, that was it.
Thanks for your help!
Try this;
Connect to wifi,
Cancel all downloads,
Restart all downloads over wifi.

Thanks lbcoder, had a feeling it would be you replying to my inquiry. Anyways, I had also tried that method, still nothing. Actually found the link below, people having this issue. To add to your steps they suggest to login to Google Talk. Well, that seems to be an issue as well, i can't login.

The only unusual thing in my logcat seems to be calling for low memory: No more background processes. This is a little odd, never had mem. issue's before, looking at my phone's memory usage in terminal, should be ok.
I had this issue due to my wireless router. Disconnected from the wifi and it all started working. The strange thing was browsing was working and google talk but it just would not download from the market.
Issue Update - in case others are having this issue - Back in Business
Well, I figured I ran out of options, that is options that didn't require a complete format and wipe of the phone.
I had to follow all the original steps, for installing the newest cyanogen ROM, using the HTC Dev Phone. So, after installing the HTC_DevPhonezip file from their website, applied it, applied Cyan's latest ROM, reboot...Bammm, the market is back, and downloading. Actually it ended up installing all my updates automatically. Guess it was registered through my google account, because I hadn't even installed the apps back to my ext partition yet, after installing new ROMs

Wow! Thanks for posting this, man. I was racking my brain... as this was the 2nd time I ran into this issue on my phone! Didn't want to wipe/reload once again.
Anyhow, I was using 'Autostarts' to pare down some of the crap that auto-starts with a standard Android build. Since I don't use GoogleTalk, I naturally killed that sucker. I guess I should've thought that it'd be tied to the Marketplace, right? Google Talk + Marketplace = logical That said, re-enabling Google Talk and restarting resolved my issue.
Thanks again!

Hey guys,
I'm desperate - I dont have any possiblity to watch YT vids on my 2X.
It happened overnight that suddenly videos on m.youtube (mobile site) crashed with the error "the video cannot be played". However any alternative doesnt work either.
1. mobile youtube site - videos dont even start playing, "the video cannot be played"
2. desktop youtube site - videos DO load, but I get artifacts or the video freezes while the sound goes on. This happens with every video.
3. YouTube app - videos show up as loading (loading icon) but videos rarely start playing (like 1 in 20 videos)
I cant see the problem. I think I got the power required to run videos in HD.
Things I have tried:
Installed a different browser (Dolphin), cleaned cache of YouTube app and browser, reinstalled browser and YT app, reinstalled Flash 11 and cleaned its cache. Nothing helped.
One funny thing I noticed is that videos work perfectly when I AM NOT LOGGED IN to YouTube. Crazy... However, that does not help. I want to watch my subscription videos, not some random videos YT suggests.
So it is:
Logged in: m.youtube doesnt even load, YouTube app doesnt load videos
Logged out: m.youtube works fine, YouTube app works
I don't have any rational explanation for this behaviour and I hope you have ideas or a working solution. Thanks in advance
C'mon guys, PLEASE. I only openend two threads on xda so far, and I didn't get an answer on any of them. What am I doing wrong?

Because you have a unique problem that no body knows the answer to? I had an issue recently that no one on XDA knew the answer to, so I started troubleshooting and it turned out to be a corrupted video file that was making the phone freeze, and the gallery not work.
There are still a lot of unknowns about these phones. Why don't you change ROMs?
Anyway, have you tried using a different internet connection?

Hey, thanks you're trying to help me solve the problem.
I have tried it with my WLAN at home and mobile internet. I will try using a different WLAN connection when I get the chance.
I have not performed a factory reset. Can I backup all my data/apps/contacts with Titanium Backup?

Is your phone rooted? What you should do is root and install ROM manager, then you can boot into clockwork recovery, back up your current install, then factory wipe and install a new ROM.
There's an app called "appextractor" which has various options such as restoring app data etc. ( it rips it all from a CWM/nandroid backup of your choice)
Im using Topogigi's rom and its fine, however LG recently released 2.3/GB.
This is a good rom to try: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1328656
Depending on how much you've played with Android you'll likely understand zero of what I said though
Sent from my LG-P990 using Tapatalk
There have been reported issues like this on the CM thread. I don't think they've come to isolate the cause. I've never had problems with youtube on any rom I've tried (Topo, mcr, cm7, thanatos, etc).
Which rom are you on? Do you have flash player installed? Is youtube not blocked in your country?

Oh, my fault guys. I forgot to tell you my ROM.
Yes, my phone is rooted and runs CM7.1
I wouldnt have guessed that this could be the cause since the error began to appear of all sudden. I had been running CM7.1 for at least a week and YT was working fine.
I got the flash player installed and YouTube is not blocked in my country. Because of copyright, I cant watch some videos, but I can browser YouTube normally on my desktop PC.
Sorry for getting mad.

How can it be CM's fault? I am happy with this ROM except for this YouTube thing. I dont want the stock ROM or MIUI. MoDaCo looks too much like LG rom in my opinion.
Is there a way to fix it other than using the sledgehammer?

I've tried all the solutions and none work, wondering if anyone shares the problem or knows a fix.

Sarcasm aside, list what you have done so people know what you've done, how you did it and then maybe they can offer some assistance.

Well by all the solutions I mean I've literally spent hours doing all the obvious ones, clearing proxies, clearing Google Play Services, Play Store and the Download Managers caches, datas etc. Removed my account, rebooted whilst doing all this. Signed in with a different Google Account, I literally cannot find another solution anywhere, sorry for being vague.
It must be a problem on Google's side. The same thing occurs with my Xperia Z, and I've tried all the fix suggestions on both stock and PA 4.0

Maybe it can help:
FEB 11, 2014
Google Play Store is experiencing yet another partial downtime and is bringing up the dreaded 403 error message for a good number of Android users.
Actually this error has come up once in a while, often randomly and without any explanation given afterwards. It's not exactly a fatal error but it does prevent users from downloading or updating apps. It can be an annoyance and an inconvenience at worst.
Unfortunately for users, there isn't really anything they can do about it, other than wait, and maybe complain.

i have the same problem before
I upgraded from my nexus 5 recently and put hulu + back on this device like I've done for years now. Whenever I try to play a video with the service, it plays the opening ad(s), gets to the point where the video I requested should play and nothing happens. Looking carefully, the 10 second rewind button just flashes on and off but the video never plays. I've done Google searches all morning and all I found is a Facebook page showing that this is a known bug but no one has offered a fix. I've uninstalled, cleared data, used the older version from Dec but no dice. I already emailed Hulu like 3 days ago and no response. I'm running stock but decryption is off. Any ideas?

Nope, not even an automated message saying that they got the email. I would hate to think that the reason mine isn't working is because I am no longer encrypted.

I found a fix!!! You have to be rooted, though:

In case any of you were having issues with Hulu Plus (like I was), I found a fix for it.
Problem:
Hulu Plus will play the intro and first ad of a video, then stops and eventually crashes the app. This was happening on the 7.4 version of the ROM and was not tested on newer versions.
Solution:
By searching XDA for the issue, I found this post, which fixed the issue with me.
If you use a root explorer, or adb you can mount /system rw
Then delete vendor/lib/liboemcrypto.so
Reboot and DRM will work again.
I was able to do this using the file explorer in TWRP.
Hope this helps!

I honestly don't know. I assume it's a file having to do with DRM. That's why it allows you to play ads and not the DRM-protected shows. The original post I referenced does not go into too much details about what it does and why it wasn't working. Since I have recent nandroid backups of my ROM, I figured I'd give it a shot. Thankfully it worked without any issues (so far, at least).
I've many others with the same issue. However there is no clear fix, other than don't update.
The latest Google play services 7.5.62-66 is a force closing nightmare.
I've completely wiped. I mean converted back to ext4 from f2fs. Installed cm12.1 fresh gapps from 5/19 and still force closes.
I've wiped all data/ cache from the apk, including Google settings apk data/cache. This stops it for a while. It always comes back with a torrent of FC's .
Its happened 8 times while typing this post.
I'm at a loss.

Make sure you have the one with the correct resolution installed, link Play Services apk`s http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/google-play-services/.
It's happening to a LOT of people. Oddly, it seems pretty random. Many are not affected. And since Google Play Services auto-updates in the background, those of us that are affected will eventually get hit again even if we downgrade. The clear app data/cache is the only "fix" I've seen thus far.
Interestingly, it seems to only happen for me on AOSP ROMs. I've had a stock image running for days without issues. I'll probably stay on stock till Google fixes it or someone finds a more promising workaround. It's annoying, but less annoying than constant FCs.

Sucks. I about to move to stock rom. I've tried so many things to fix it and it always comes back. Some hinted it could be a gapps problem, idk.
Gonna miss all my themes and customization.

Any ETA on fix ? Is it Google fault or CM ?
Yesterday everything worked OK. A few minutes ago everything went to hell.

Isn't it a bad taste to ask for ETA?
Just kidding.
Bloody hell, recently Google/CM drive me mad - every update brings new problems! Common guys, are you a bunch of amateurs? Cant get it right for a few months now?

Probably is, but it's also kind of important issue.
It's not a "not working icon bug" it's a bug that's preventing you from using your phone. Kind of important, don't you agree ?

Workaround
I come up with a workaround for Google FC - using Tasker (with Secure Settings plugin) do the following on Shutdown and Boot:
1. Kill Google Play services
2. Clear Data for Google Play services
3. Clear Cache for Google Play services
So far haven't got Google FC, will see how it goes :crying:
