Hi.
I found this awesome, oldschool htc sense, rom that i want to flash. I only have one question, what kernel should i use it with?
The answer is easy: because the rom is older than the first custom kernel, you need to use stock kernel.
Theoretically it can be work with alfs/linuxdx too, but need some work (like the alfs addon for froyopro)

I tried the stock kernel and that gives me a bootloop.. Could you please link to the things you're talking about?

BUMP!
Is this the addon you're talking about? "x8FroyoPro-Alfsv8+AllFixv3.zip"
And, will this "X8_09c-Cm7_Alfs&Djnilse.rar" work with Hackdroid Floyo?

Hello readers
There have been people developing custom kernels for our Xperia X8, but most of them haven't release their custom kernel yet. What custom kernel are you using? I only can find a custom kernel that has been released by doixanh, which is LinuxDX, but this custom kernel has a few bugs. I am looking for a stable custom kernel for the rom i am currently using, GingerDX. What do u recommend?

Just wait until LinuxDX turns fully stable I guess.

Sorry I thought FXP's thread was only developing ROM.
This might be a stupid question, but do I need to change to a Gingerbread specific baseband when using cm7? or is that included in the rom?
And what are the pros/cons of getting a custom kernel?
I'm not really a hardcore user, and i'm not gonna overclock or anything.

i tried nearly all of them, but best working for me is baseband 0218...
when you wanna try custom kernel, have a look at vorkkernel ...
or just run it with stock CM kernel, it´s up to you
Hey all!
I've jsut want to ask you, that how depends on the compatibility of a rom on a kernel? so what need to modify in a rom for being compatible with the specific kernel(nAa for exemple).
I've got no idea But if your point is to create a rom, I think you should start by working with the stock kernel for now

i've just want to make compatibile a rom with nAa11
From my experience the correct Kernel to use is always suggested by the developers of the ROM. For example the Minicm7-2.1.9 is built around the nAa Kernel and as far as I'm aware the ROM will only work with that Kernel.
CM7 suggests a FreeXperia Kernel which comes with the ROM (e.g. FX043) - I've not had any luck with this kernel and ROM myself. I did get the CM7 ROM installed with the nAa kernel but it kept freezing up.
Always try the suggested kernel or search for compatable kernel for the ROM you want to use. Of course you can always try to load any rom to any kernel and experiment / hope for the best as I have....
Hope this helped.
I want to clarify if it ever works in stock kernel? because mine is not possible to unlock bootloader, I want to change my CUSTOM ROM from CM7 to ICS ROM. Many also ask if it ever works on STOCK kernel.

i dont think nAa will develop stock version
minicm 9,10 on stock kernel is impossible.
Its impossible to run CM9+ with stock ROM. it requires swap(I guess) and some tweaks + libs that requires with custom kernel.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

Yes you guess !
Man on stock it's just 165mb of ram,so we can't made cm9 for stock rom! On custom is 184mb!
Sorry bro, if u want ICS for stock kernel,

Good Luck

If you want rom for stock kernel, only Gb not isc. :<
Hi,
Someone knows if is possible to change the kernel in a stock rom? I'm looking for one that allow "mounts", "install's/updates" via CWM and support for init.d
BR
if i'm not wrong, i've only seen cm based ones in this section..If you want you can build one on your own and mod it as you like..There are lots of tutorial available to do it..if you don't want or you don't have time to do that, i suggest you to flash a stock based custom rom..Have a nice day!
