So... I have an xperia T with 4.3 stock installed and I want to know how to root it and what Rom to install after unlocking the bootloader. Any help?
Well I have the James Bond European .205, flashed DoomKernel and then flashed the SU update from chainfires website, but there's so many options why not see what works for you

hello I am an old Z user , but it got stolen 6month ago...
I just got a new one, I'm not a noob but I'm lost on what is the latest rom to install and the proper way to root it as I'm sure old methods aren't working anymore...
from what I roughly understood, you need to unlock the bootloader now?
if yes I would need help on that!
(I heard about some "framework" stuff to install as well)
thanks for helping !

latest ROM is 4.3 - build number 10.4.1.B.0.101
You only need an unlocked bootloader if you want custom ROMS such as CM, PAC etc with custom kernels. Cant flash custom kernels if on locked bootloader
Unlock bootloader - http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z/development/tutorial-xperia-z-zl-bootloader-t2153261
To root you will need to be on a 4.2 ROM, once rooted you can install a recovery then you can install a rooted 4.3 ROM or custom ROM
Follow this method to root on stock rom - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2327472

Follow this method to gain recovery - http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z/general/ub-lb-xzdualrecovery-xperia-z-qa-thread-t2477769
Should be ready to flash stuff
thanks a lot!!!
was lost into all the new infos...
so to install 4.3 - 10.4.1.B.0.101 no need to unlock, right?
(I only need the sony rom)

Correct, you do not need to unlock the bootloader if you are going to install the 4.3 - 10.4.1.B.0.101 ROM.
You can either do this on flashtool by flashing a 4.3 FTF or you can root and install recovery and flash a rom zip file
I apologise if this is previously sorted out, but I am pretty new to the xperia lineup(2nd day).
I have a C6902 with build number 14.1.G.1.531(android version 4.2.2)
Can I use bin4ry's tool to root?
And then directly use the XZdualrecovery installer?
At present I do not wish to unlock the bootloader neither upgrade to kitkat, but want to try stock based custom 4.3(flashplayer! Yay!) JB. Will iHackers 3.0 be installed without loosing root and the dual recovery?
bump
Anyone?

I'm not sure about the bin4ry thing but there are many ways u can root on z1 since it's on .531
maybe vroot or king root
yes, then u can install dualrecovery and go for iHackers 3.0, your dualrecovery will be still here after installing
have fun
I have Xperia Z1 UB with CWM installed kitkat .681
I got OTA update to .757 and I want it so much because of the known sound issue
It's just about 10 MB and it's perfect for me due to my slow connection.. I can't download any FTF or flashed zip (about 950 MB)
what I have to do to install the OTA update successfully ??
delete the CWM and relock my phone ?? any solution ??
thank u
I dont know how many times i have to say this, or if you did not read the warning on the sony website when you unlocked
but do not excuse the caps lock, i am doing it on purpose
DO NOT ACCEPT OTA UPDATES WITH AN UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER

absolutely man I'm not going to update my xperia with UB.. so I want to relock it and a way to uninstall CWM then I will update as stock kernel
why not just install one of the pre rooted stock roms from the development section.
Just flash it..
absolutely no need to relock, flash a stock kernel or anything...
all you will have to do is flash back your choice of custom kernel afterwards.

I would like to download pre rooted rom but I don't have high speed internet connection to download about 1 GB file
hello everyone,
until now I used several roms, like iHackers, CM, PA, slimkat etc and never lost root; today I updated to the newest stock rom, via sony emma, to see all the changes they've made and lost my root access.
is there any chance to get root again without the downgrading process again? I only did it once and this is a long time ago. I am not a highly advanced user but always curios to learn new things.
I really appreciate your help.
data:
lollipop 5.0.2
build: 14.5.A.0.270
xperia z1 c6903
germany
additional question: is xposed already working on lollipop? only had JB and KK so far

If your bootloader is unlocked, it's possible for you to root without going back to Kitkat. Just go to Xperia Z1 Android Development, and look for 270 kernel...
If it isn't unlocked, you have to go back to Kitkat and use any pre-rooted 270 ROM.
By the way, you posted in the wrong place.. You should post in Xperia Z1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
Good luck!

Sorry for posting in the wrong place.
Bootloader is unlocked with newest TA update. I will look for the kernel, thank you for replying.
As you unlocked your bootloader, you can gain root using two different methods:
You can search for an autoroot kernel for the 14.5.A.0.270 firmware as said above
or if you would like to not mess around, you can also just boot any kernel with recovery without flashing it using
Code:
fastboot boot boot.img
and then sideload the latest superSU zip via adb using
Code:
adb sideload sideload.zip
You can grab the latest superSU zip here
That's the way I personally like the best, as it keeps the stock kernel
Xposed works in parts as far as I know. The installation is still a quite experimental procedure and not all modules may work properly.

Hello,
I have been trying all day to install a custom rom on my Xperia Z for T-Mobile. I have succeeded in rooting it and installing the recovery, but it looks like the bootloader needs to be unlocked. I have followed this guide and have rooted and installed the recovery but when I install a custom rom, such as paranoid android lollipop, it gives me an error and I cannot reboot into a rom so I have to run the Sony PC Companion tool and repair the device. I now have a completely stock Xperia Z and wanted to know the best way to install a custom recovery and flash a rom. I have tried unlocking the bootloader but it says bootloader unlockable no when I dial service, even after installing root and recovery. I have tried anyways and it says operation not permitted when I try to cmd the unlock code into fastboot. I was hoping someone could help me and guide me on how to fix these issues and finally install a custom rom.
Thanks
T-mobile Z bootloader cannot be unlocked, therefore you cannot flash custom kernel, therefore you cannot flash a ROM that uses anything other than stock kernel. Look for the "LB" tag in the ROM title, these are for phones with (L)ocked(B)ootloaders, and should be STOCK based ROM's.
Just make sure you follow proper procedures when upgrading to different versions of Android.
