Hi there
i just bought my xperia z and updated to latest 4.4.2 version but its a bit laggy and performance is poor
i just wonders if previews android version are better or not ? for example how about 4.1.2 or 4.2.2 ?
i don't care about update .... i just want something that runs smooth on my phone ( i was nexus 4 owner)
so if u had any experience with older versions on xperia z please help me
thanks
4.3 been best so far, but I'm pretty sure bug fixes will come out for 4.4 too
Use Existenz 7.0... Best ROM on version 4.3.. Very smooth and stable. One of the best Roms I ever used. .

Hi
There is leaked version of JB 4.2.2 for C660X by Sir.DoomLord
But kernel version remains on 3.4
But Sony Mobile h confirmed 3.6 *nix kernel
Is this because of for example pre version of 4.2.2 or ...
Anyone know more??
Sent via my Google Nexus 7 | 32GB.WiFi
Out of curiosity, any reason wgy you are interested in this kernel version? There are no android-specific improvements in 3.5 or 3.6 that i know of, and the latest kernel is 3.9 so I wonder if you gave reasons other than android user latest numbers heat

Thats crap, I want to see the micro lags removed from this phone and 3.6 was one possible solution, or step in the right direction
So i really tried unlocking my BL but i failed due to the fact that my PC doesnt realize that i installed java and because i have windows 8 so the drivers arent compatible , Thus i was wondering if there are any good (better than stock) rom that i can install on an locked bootloader phone ?

Only stock based Roms are for locked bootloader, so if you want to flash an AOSP based ROM you need to unlock bootloader. You can also do this with Windows 8 and 8.1. If you have Windows 8 go to www.flashtool.net than to faq and there is how to do this. With Windows 8.1 go here: http://www.howtogeek.com/167723/how...8.1-so-that-you-can-install-unsigned-drivers/

This APK was pulled from a Xperia running stock 4.4. This does not imply anything for the ZR.

Xperia Z in some European countury is expected to get 4.4.2 update as soon as the end of Feb or early March.. ZR most likely to get it soon I hope!
On 4.3 I'm getting lag when installing or uninstalling apps, the phone Hangs and becomes unresponsive for a couple of seconds. I've tried changing roms but it seems all 4.3 roms have this problem. This never happened in stock 4.1.2. What could be the problem and how to fix?
Well, I don't have this problem. Did you try factory reset after updated the phone
Sent from my C5302 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Yes, I'm using custom rom at the moment but it was also there in 4.3 stock prerooted

Same here. On .254 was way better. Now on .266 or newest .201 there is lag.I hoped that they will fix this lag with .201 but its the same as .266.
Tried to flash with flashtool, sony update... No improvement. Even after factory reset is still the same.
After 10 years of using Sony phones i think that SP is my last Sony phone.
I will sell SP soon and buy Nexus 5 or Moto X.

Grab a z1 or Z2, it's a whole new world xD
About the lag, its better in this firmware, but is still there....
I wonder what's causing it????
Anybody still having this app install/update lag? I have it.. had it on stock 4.3, stock based rom, cm11 and now even on vanir.. Is it something hardware?
I am on stock ROM and don't have this problem, there is a graphical glitch when uninstalling apps with a minor delay but this can easily be fixed using modified package installer like the one here.
As for CM11 (LBL)-I have used it and there is no issue whatsoever regarding app uninstalls, only stock ROM has the issue.
Nand flash memory on xperia sp is very slow, no way to fix lag when installing apps.

So it was Sony's "present" to the SP owners after all.. I thought it was just my device.. Still, it is a great device that Sony doesn't want to be perfect..

Official CM11 M11 with Stock Kernel ._.
I had this problem on stock and on most of the Custom ROMs. But OmniROM, SlimKat and LBL CM11 by Bagyusz never showed any lag while installing apps

You will need to have unlocked bootloader first before flashing any CM roms or 4.4.2 roms
To back to original firmware just flash the pre-rooted 4.3 ROM over here
There's many kind.
I prefer you to wait for official 4.4 update as will be available next month
