Status 7 = Bad updater script
There are two ways to correct the
status 7 error. I'm going to tell you the
easier one (atleast i think so )
So, you need a computer for that.
Now, lets begin.
Step 1. Copy the ROM zip file to your
computer and extract it using your
favorite unzipping software.
Step 2. Once unzipped, browse to the META-INF/com/google/android
directory. You will find two files called
“update-binary” and “updater-script”.
Step 3. Rename “updater-script” to
“updater-script.txt” and open with your
favorite text file editor.
Step 4. Get rid of the line starting with “assert” to next semi-colon. Usually
this is the first line or one of the first
lines at the top of the text file.
Step 5. Save file.
Step 6. Rename “updater-script.txt”
back to “updater-script”.
Step 7. Rezip all the files you’ve
unzipped.
Step 8. Copy the new, edited zip file to your phone.
Step 9. Try re-installing ROM, now it
should install fine without Status 7
error.
Ps :- I'm assuming that you are rooted and have a KK recovery already.

Clarification on changing language

First of all I would like to thank those who posted tutorials and ROMs for language changes and "4deft". It really works fine if you do it correctly.
I want to add a clarification for language change. It's very easy to assume from reading the related posts that the Hard SPL should be copied to the diamond and installed from there. IMPORTANT.. Everything is done from your PC! Here are the more precise steps:
1. Create a folder in My Documents called Diamond Language Change for future reference. (Recommended, not essential)
2. Download the Hard SPL to above directory on your PC
3. Extract the zip file to a new directory by the same name as the SPL file
4. Download the desired language ROM version to the Language Change folder and extract the zip file to a directory of the same name as the downloaded ROM file
5. From the extracted folder in step 3 run the romupdateutility.exe and make sure to read and follow ALL prompts
6. From the extracted folder in step 4 run the romupdateutility.exe file (it will have the same icon as step 5) and wait.
7. If you did this right, in about 10 minutes you will see the start-up screen on your Diamond and it will prompt you into initial configuration and settings. THEN YOU ARE DONE
8. Remember, all these steps are done from the PC and not within the Diamond
I hope this helps some other newbies like myself!

My framework-res.apk | Floyo v0.25/0.30 | Xperia X8

I replaced the battery icons with ones that I did.
*To install:
1). You must download and unzip the file and copy the two files: "-res.apk framework" and "reframe.sh" into the memory card from your phone. (Do not put in a folder because the script looks for the "framework-res.apk" directly at the root of the card.
2). Install on your phone "Script Manager" from the Market.
3). Open "Script Manager" being Root, look for the "reframe.sh.", Check "Run as Root" and run it.
4). When finished, the phone will reboot and you have new icons.
NOTE: You can also replace the Floyo v0.30 framework-res.apk with this one.
*Sorry for my english...

[Q] Unable to flash UOT zip

Hey guys, I've looked around and haven't found any reason why I SHOULD'NT be able to flash a custom theme from the Ultimate Online Kitchen, so I'm posting for suggestions as to why I am getting this error when trying to flash this... here is the error message I keep getting:
Installing update...
E:Error in /sdcard/Flashing/Themes/UOT-08-25-17-41-1.zip
(Status 0)
Installation aborted.
I also tried flashing it from the root of the SD card with the same results.
At the kitchen I am using the Type MTD (default) update binary...
Looking forward to your suggestions, maybe I have my settings wrong in the kitchen
From the how-to page:
WORKAROUND for recovery error (Status 0):
1. Unzip your ROM and find
META-INF/com/google/android/update-binary file
2. Put this file in the UOT zip (overriding UOT's file)
Click to collapse
I saw that in the How TO section and tried different ways:
1: Just dragging the file (update-binary)to root of the zip
2: Navigating in the zip to where the update-binary is and dropping it in there
3: Unpacking the zip and placing the file in the root of the zip
4: Unpacking the zip and replacing the file in the zip with the one from my rom
They all yield the same results (I'm pullin' my hair out) because the 2nd technique should've worked
did you ever figure out how to make this work?
My bad fellas, I should've posted back that I got this resolved...
I eventually downloaded a fresh copy of my ROM, unzipped the entire thing instead of just dragging out the file I needed.
I then deleted the file I was replacing with the one I got from my ROM and it went fine (after about 10 tries).
I also flashed my recovery to my phone and the amss and the dsp1...
Anyway, now I'm a cookin' fool changing themes every other day

[Q] how to create cm7.2 odin flash fw

hi guys i am running cm7.2 nightly on my captivate and i want to create an odin flashable firmware of cm7.2 rom on windows xp for backup purpose please give me a full tutorial on doing this
I believe it isn't possible. I was asking around for ICS and from what i gathered it isn't.
Two things you could do.
1.download the newest nightly that you want to base it on.
2. Use Root Explorer and EXTRACT ALL.
3. Then go to the extracted folder for the nightly, and delete out the SYSTEM folder.
4.Now MAKE SURE you have your phone set up EXACTLY how you want it to look like. Reboot the phone once that is done.
5. Now with root explorer navigate to /system and long press on the system folder. Choose COPY
6. Navigate to the extracted folder (which should be like sdcard/speedsoftware/extracted OR something like that) and go into the folder where you deleted out SYSTEM folder earlier. Now long press and choose PASTE.
7. Back out until your back at the extracted folder name, long press on it and choose RENAME. Pick the name you want it to be. (I usually use something like: CM7.2RockRattRedRemixThemed02-10-2012).
8.Long press on the name again and choose ZIP THIS FOLDER.
9. GO TO ZIPPED FOLDER.
10. Move the zipped folder to your sdcard, reboot to recovery and flash it to make sure it works.
11. If it worked just copy or or move that .zip file to your computer for backup.
Or I can upload the one I have created so you can see it and test it out. I have made some other changes so it is partially already themed, has the theme chooser. apk File I use instead of the stock theme chooser .apks that come with the original cm7. I use zip themer to set up certain things so they are automatically themed when just flashing the build i created. Hope this helps you get an idea of a pretty bazsic way of making your own cwm flashable cm7 rom already personalized. Oh I also delete of some of the apps that come in cm7 and just put my own personal apps into the system folder so I already have them built in.

thanks for your effort and reply but i want to create odin flashable fw not cwm, i know how to create cwm flashable rom, but anyway thanks for your reply
You could DD'ing a back up of all partitions and then tar'ing it, then flashing it in ODIN
Aren't the partition blocks different on AOSP?
Yess, but you can look them up then dd them, and DL the pit with heimdall, and create an ODIN FW flasher
Boot.img vs zImage. Way around?
decompile the boot.img and grab the zImage from the decompiled boot.img

Error status 7

Hello,
I currently have Tsunami X 5.6 android 4.2.2.
I want to update to Kitkat roms but I cant.
I get "status 7" error while trying to install.
I understood that it's because I have an old CWM recovery (6.0.3.2).
How do I update it?
Sorry for the n00b question..
Status 7 error is caused while the ROM’s updater script file checks to see if the phone model of your phone is compatible with the ROM you are installing called “asserts”.
How To Fix Statue error:
DO A NANDROID BACKUP if you haven't done so already just in case...
1. Copy the ROM zip file to your computer and extract it using your favorite unzipping software.
2. Once unzipped, browse to the META-INF/com/ google/android directory. You will find two files called “update-binary” and “updater-script”.
3. Rename “updater-script” to “updater-script.txt” and open with your favorite text file editor.
4. Get rid of the line starting with “assert” to next semi-colon. Usually this is the first line or one of the first lines at the top of the text file.
5. Save file.
6. Rename “updater-script.txt” back to “updater-script”.
7. Rezip all the files you’ve unzipped.
8. Copy the new, edited zip file to your phone.
9. Try re-installing ROM, now it should install fine without Status 7 error.

If the previous answer is too complicated for you, just flash CM10.2 that will do proper partition for the latest ROMs and give you updated CWM recovery with which you can flash any KK rom. Just reboot once intonthe OS, then back to recovery and flash a KK rom. Don't forget to manually wipe /system before installing KK.
You will need to flash zip twice, as first time it will disolay warning of repartition and abbort with status 7. By next attempt it will work flawless.
