Let me start by apologizing if this isn't the right place to request for mods
I tried looking for a place that's assigned for requests, but I couldn't find it. I'm sorry
So let me get on with my request, which will benefit most if not all
The title pretty much explains what I am requesting for just a bit of additional info here.
Xblast Tools has the option to choose 4 actions on Status Bar but it doesn't currently provides an option to toggle volume level.
GravityBox [KK] provides an option to swipe across the Status Bar to change brightness level but again, there's no option to do so to volume.
I'm not even a noob to programming but by the looks of it, it seems like a pretty doable thing to me
Excuse me if that's not the case :|
I mean, think of the comfort it will add..
For instance, you're watching YouTube or whatever and you just need to scroll left/right on the status bar to adjust the volume level
Another instance can be, you receive your BF/GF's call at an unexpected time and you quickly have to reduce volume to save the voice reaching your parents
OK, one more instance, I can think of, your fingers are all messed up and in those times, you just need to swipe across the status bar with the back of your finger
Lastly, it'll save the hardware keys too :victory:
Please.. Please.. Make it possible someone.. You guys are able accomplish much difficult things here.. Please.. :fingers-crossed:
Fyki..
I know of this module here-
http://repo.xposed.info/module/com.greatbytes.statusbarvolume
Created by XDA member niko001
It's called the StatusBarVolume; but that's something different and needs hardware keys to adjust volume.
It makes the volume slider appear above the Status Bar which is a too!
I'm posting it here, to avoid people pointing me towards this mod and I also hope, it might be something some people might be interested in.
Please hit Thanks if I helped you
Eureka..
OK guys, update..
I found a way to do so..
:victory:
Try Status Bar gestures in this mod..

Guys! I ended up creating a great blend.
:victory:
Just install both the mods mentioned in Post #2 and Post #3 to have a fabulous outcome.
:good:
StatusBarVolume will bring the volume slider appear as an overlay on Status Bar
while Gesture Navigation will enable you to change volume by swiping left/right on the Status Bar to adjust the volume level down/up.
StatusBarVolume mod doesn't support changing volume by swiping over the Status Bar; it just makes it appear over it, while Gesture Navigation won't make the volume slider appear over the Status Bar; it can just enable you to change volume level by swiping over the Status Bar.
I hope, I could make you understand what I mean
Give it a try for yourself and..

I have a rooted Nook Color and it is fantastic. However, I want to use the Crosswords application from the Android market. The only problem is that it appears to mess up the size calculation for the screen. It looks to me like it is not correctly calculating the size because it assumes the notification bar will be at the top of the screen. So it ends up overlaying the notification bar over the clues... or in horizontal mode, it overlays them over the bottom row of the software keyboard.
So, I want to selectively disable (or move to the top) the notification bar. Is there any way to do that? Or am I doomed?
Thanks. -ben
I too would love to know how to disable the bar or maybe even move it to the top. After mapping back and menu to the volume buttons the notification bar is really just a nuisance in its current location. However, through my limited research I've found nothing!
Edit: This may be just what you're looking for, I was looking for a more broad solution though....

Softkeys is great for back and menu
The softkeys app is great for the back and menu... I wish it included a button to make the current app be full-screen. But I don't know if it is even possible to do that.
I'm sure it is possible I just don't know if the demand is high enough to add said function, like I said earlier I would love a more permanent way to toggle the bar system wide.
I can't get this to work for the life of me. Can someone assist? Does anyone else have this working on cm7.1 on DINC?
menu - settings - cyanogenmod settings - interface - status bar tweaks -status bar brightness control (is checked)
what am i missing?

I deleted my original rant before posting it. Why not ask this question in the CM 7 thread(s)? You've been a member for a good amount of time so I just think you should know not to create a thread in the development forum for this. I just don't want to come across as being harsh or talking down to you.
As you can see, I don't post as often compared to you.
I did put some thought as to where I posted this. I assumed CM7 was "development work", so I thought this was the proper place to post.
Can you shoot me a link where you are talking about?

In case someone finds this thread...
"For those of you trying to figure out the new brightness-adjust-via-statusbar feature, do the following:
1. Settings > CM Settings > Interface > Status Bar Tweaks > StatusBar brightness (I'm guessing you guys already figured this part out)
2. Here's the trick: place your finger on the status bar, but don't drag it down. It will still 'peek' out some, but now you'll want to slowly drag your finger to the left or right while keeping it on the status bar itself. If you drag left, the screen will get darker; right for bright.
It's still pretty rough. I'm hoping that it is refined to some degree... it's easy to hit min or max, but hard to find just the "right" level that you want in the middle without going too far in one direction or another."

Good deal!
SO I often find that on these forums peoples good work needs to be brought together in a nice little package. I have done ZERO developing, but a few good blokes have done some framework edits, and a few apps made, and now here we have it...
NO MORE SOFTKEYS, ENTIRE SCREEN USAGE, and some amazing alternatives to the softkeys
*** requires root ****
Tutorial:
1. Find an alternative you like (MUST DO THIS FIRST OR COULD BE STUCK WITHOUT ANY BUTTONS!!!!):
-I personally use "GMD gesture control", its wonderful, youtube it. They also have a lite version you can try. For full version it costs 5$ but its wondeful. four finger pinch is home, 3 finger swype down is back, and you can add custom geatures. Highly reccomended
-button savior, this and the other 2 to follow are more traditional hide nav, bring nav back. I havn't used them but they have good reviews
-gesture LMT
-gesture+pie LMT
2. I'm aware this is from samsung nexus forum, but me and many others can confirm it works the same for the nexus 7. Download the apk that pushes the modified framework. even the app warns you to have a secondary means of "buttons" before you continue. But simply instal app, open app, and click the uninstall nav bar. THEN... reboot and your set
-download the link "FullScreenToggleV2.apk -Support4.1 XDA link"
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1497558
I'd just make a backup of the rom and revert back to that if you don't link. But me likey, me likey so much Thanks for all the great work boys
By 'DELETE Nav bar' do you mean the Notification bar or are you calling the softkey area the Nav bar? With a custom launcher, such as Nova, you can hide the notification bar. Interesting idea, but I think I want the softkeys.
Edit: I see that the area is commonly called the navigation bar. There is another good thread on this topic in this forum which just calls for a build.prop edit if you are rooted.
Hey, just have a couple questions about things I can't seem to figure out.
Am running 2.1.0 now, and when I pull down the notification bar, whether I have notifications or not, it is coming up with the full page of toggles instead of the notification bar with the weather/horizontal scrolling toggles etc. How do I change this back? It never used to default to that.
And secondly, in the same notification window, how do I bring the cpu readings back?

Long press on the date I think to get the notification bar back.
Tweaks, Status Bar, Header to get to Info Bar settings
Yeah I've been trying the last 2 days. I am stumped.

Legend. Thank you!
Actually, wait. The info bar one worked. The notification wasn't quite what I was after. When I pull down the notification bar it's defaulting to the whole wrong page. The large toggle page instead of the notification window.

I'm glad the info bar worked! There's so many tweaks in the rom its hard to find them lol.
Yeah, I'm getting the feeling the pull down defaulting to the wrong page is a bug, a few people in the thread have reported it. Been playing with it, and it's hit or miss for me what happens when I pull down the screen, it's annoying. The devs will fix it, for now I turned off the large toggle page
You can change everything in venom tweaks
Hard to find is right! Glad to hear I'm not the only one with the issue, I searched through the thread for ages before posting, but it's just as hard to find anything in there...
Didn't know you could turn the big toggles off, I never use them so will do so now! Mine is also hit and miss when it happens it seems. Thanks again for your help.

Glad to help you get it sorted. I wasn't sure if you could turn the big toggles page off either (they're called quick settings), but there is an option under the Statusbar tab in Venom Tweaks to turn them off, so I did, never really used them anyways. The Extended Quick Settings and the CPU info still show up on the notification screen, so I'm good.
Let me know if you need anymore help, you can always pm me if needed
Hi, I have a Galaxy S4 with a Google Edition ROM and I'm missing the brightness slider and the toggles on the status bar I used to have on the TW...that's the only thing I miss actually, and one I really want to have, so...is there a module that enables those features? I tried Gravity Box but I only managed to control brightness directly on the status bar (I'd prefer an actual visual slider) and to bring the toggles on the screen by clicking on the top right corner of the status bar (quicksetting)... I would like to have the toggles directly on the drop down status bar...are there more options I couldn't find? Are there other modules that enable these features?
I'm looking for something like this: http://i.imgur.com/5g9Ft1W.jpg
Thank you in advance!

I believe that's called QuickSettings in GravityBox
Im not sure about the brightness slider because I haven't used that since 4.0.4, but I'm pretty sure you can add those in GB from under the Notification settings next to quick settings
Ok, thank you...I managed to bring the quicksetting in foreground when there are no active notifications with an option...it's better this way but I would just like a part of the screen with toggles that can coexist with the notifications...about the slider, can't find anything in notification settings...

Post here if you find a brightness slider mate. Cheers.
