ok guys my galaxy s is borng...suggestions :S ?

Hello every one , my galaxy S i bought 2 weeks ago is boring , i was exploring the stock 2.1 Eclair update 1. i have no ROM , no lagfixes or any builds
just stock GTi9000
Frimware: 2.1 update 1
basband : i9000JXJG2
Kernal version 2.6.29, build number , EcLAIR.JPJG8
most versions i see on youtube , are with more advanced looking , i mean they don't have the boring " green phone " on the homescreen next to the orange contacts , and the messaging , then application ,
looks like this one " http://cdn.androidcommunity.com/wp-c...g-Galaxy-S.jpg " ( pic taken from google )
they have a grey semi transparent one and some how it looks like higher resolution and cleaner pic, every thing is stock here, and since i don't have market i strugle to get an app, but i downloaded a vending.apk file and i have the market too bad i have the starting download stuck bugg ( didn't fix it yet )
i was wondering if someone could tell me how to pimp my Samsung galaxy s i9000 ( international )
to get all these cool looking things and cool looking phone with the nice lock screen and big digital . thx in advance btw iam new to android mobiles and samsung galaxy s is my first mobile
i hope someone understand what i want
I would suggest you go to this thread for all pimping related queries.

Generally, people customize there Galaxy S 3 ways
1) Widget Customization - This includes downloading widgets and icon packs from the market. This will change the way the icons on the homescreen look and lets you personlize your homescreen with the info you want.
2) Launchers- There are a variety of home launchers available but the biggest two are LauncherPro and ADW. ADW comes with themes that can be downloaded from the market, some are paid and some are free. LauncherPro gives the option to resize widgets if you have the paid version. Each person has their own preference as to which one they use.
3) Themes and ROMS- These are the biggest changes to the phone and usually involve rooting and flashing the phone with odin. ROMS are altered software releases that have customized status bars, docks, wallpapers, etc. Same thing with themes but instead they replace some system files to alter the status bars and etc. This is more recommended if you're willing to spend some time learning about the phone. Offers the best "pimping" in my opinion.
mind me asking where u'r from enigma ?
That eclair build is the same build im using (Africa & ME Test Version) and have market working absolutly fine using market enabler for paid apps (ERIS Market Fix didnt help at all ) .
fix the market problem by doing the following
1- in the time settings, use 24 hour time format ( u can change it back after you finish)
2- in the dial pad, dial *#272*ur four digit time# (for EXAMPLE its 0846 now so u input *#272*0846# )
3- a menu will open, choose xsg then intall the market. (by install the market i mean click on the option down below to apply ur choice)
ps: this will wipe ur device, just make sure u backup before all this.
after this the phone will reboot like factory with the market icon available, downloads should work just fine.
after that u could tweak the phone with root + SU + lagfix
from there u could enjoy the market, install games/apps/whatever
i know i was bored with my phone without the market but after i got it working im almost always on the phone and with only 1 problem left to fix, Battery life
if u need any help pm me
@ Lawliett , thanks for the reply i will look more into the pimping thread i will also try the launcher pro and let you know of the results thx again btw can you suggest some apps ? i know about launcher pro and beautiful widgets , also can you recommend a stable/fast ROM and i hope it doesn't need root , is it safe to Use ODIN ?without bricking phone?
@mazroui , iam from Egypt ^_^ , i was going to try the dialpad thing but i read on some forums that it is irreversible , and since i don't know what does it do i didn't do it , but i would love to try it out , i was also looking for someone to help me pimp my mobile and you jumped out of no where lol thanks for the offer, i will PM you so we can talk , thanks again my Emirates brother i will try help you and help my self for fixing battery life

i inspirated by Icecream Sandwich ROM like cm9 , or ICS stock rom
so , i try this on gingerbread and this work too !
HOW TO:
1. go to settings
2. choose "About Phone" section at the bottom
3. scroll until you see "Android Version" , you will see 2.3.x
4. tap the "Android Version" three times by quickly !
5. and poof ! you will surprised
6. dont forget to hit thanks button if you see somethings
NOTICE
sorry this thread may not very important for you
i just want to share to all of you
I already know that, even in the 'mod version' if you are using custom roms, it will show a picture
thanks for giving information ~
I think everybody knows that thing already LOL!
Indeed I still didn't know this easter egg so...thanks for sharing
The zombie pic found by tapping Android version is named Platlogo.png (or maybe .jpg, I forget)
The boat with a duck found by tapping Mod Version or whatever in CM7 rom's is named TDYacht.png or jpg
I can't remember offhand where they're located, I'm at work so can't look in my phone. (Google platlogo tdyacht location) They're really easy to change out though.
Not a big or important customization option, but pretty cool nonetheless

[TUTORIAL] get QUICK DIAL on DESKTOP!

Hello all GEAR users!
Direct dial for favorite contacts was "a must" for me... I really do not understand why SAMSUNG did not make it in their updated firmware...
NOW WE HAVE IT thanks to the GREAT WORK OF fOmey and his ROM! => buy him a beer!
Have a look on included picture:
For those who want to have it - read the the thread - [ROM][MJ8] null_ 06 :: 12th NOV :: GEAR EDITION [DEODEXED / ROOTED] carefully,
But to make long story short in a few steps
1. Install fOmey rom null_06 or later (fOmey is working on the 07 version...)
2. Do the complete factory reset (from Gear menu or if it is not enough through download mode)
3. Install Contacts.apk - - check page 28 of the rom thread or download from here:
4. Install a keyboard - Flit keyboard will be fine
6. Install ES File Explorer
5. Add preferred contacts to the watch locally using keyboard - possibly it can be done using wondershare also... - add pictures by coping them to the gear first
6. Get APW widgets (+key) : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rdr.widgets.core&hl=en
7. Add widget "APW People 3x3" to the one of empty nova desktops
8. Configure "thin frame", no label, action-dial, etc in APW widget settings
9. Done !
Again - say thank You to fOmey, I have only played with APW widgets...

Click to collapse
Thanks, I like this much better than using the contacts widget version.
Where do we install the pictures in the gear ?
Thanks
Just create the directory on the GEAR SD card You can recognize and put the pictures there (keep them small like 20kb, low resolution like 272x272 pix) using wondershare
then when you crate contacts tap on the "picture field" application will ask you to take the photo using camera or provide path\filename - just provide path to the dir You have created.
Great job on the guide and thank you for the mentions !
Thank you
Installing the ROM is a most or can I do it just by adb?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk
If You are rooted and have Nova launcher - try to install contacts.apk - if You succeed without "unknown sources" block - try APW and let us know...
However - there is so many goodies in the fOmey ROM that I see no point in staying with stock rom....
BTW - if You want to test something- Samsung just released new rom BRI-V700XXUAMJ9
http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=SM-V700&details=Galaxy_Gear
so you may try it ....
Thank you good work
Internet connection
First of all, THANK YOU SO MUCH for this incredible work. I will be donating soon. Sorry if this is a stupid question. I have read until page 30 and some of the last pages trying to get the internet working. I have pdanet+ in my phone and I have v10 in the watch. I activated bluetooth server in the phone but I cant see the option to select bluetooth internet in the watch when I go to bluetooth settings in watch. I read the QA in the first page and I couldnt find the answer. Please help. Thanks in advance.

Smiley Clock tutorial not working on Gingerbread...

Hello,
I'm currently learning how to create XPosed modules, because it is not as complicated as it looks.
I started following this tutorial : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2709324
I test my modules on my rooted Samsung Galaxy Ace GT-S5839i under Gingerbread 2.3.6.
The second example (Tutorial 5) works perfectly, I can't test the third one as there is no navigation bar on my phone.
But the Smiley Clock (Tutorial 4) doesn't work at all. I took the exact same code, and I checked here that the package for the Clock was the same. So are there specific rules when developping for GB ?
PS: I wanted to post this in the Development forum, but I had not enough posts. So if you are an admin and want to move it, go on.
Ok, I found the solution while looking again in the GrepCode. It appears that the Clock class is in a policy directory, but its package is only com.android.systemui.statusbar.
