Hi, I have this s3 mini (SM G730W8) . I have had it for 4 months and never had any problems. But since yesterday, it connects to wifi network internet doesn't work. Chrome says you are offline after trying , apps can't connect etc.
The device works fine on LTE.
Other devices can connect to the same wifi and are working fine, even other samsung devices.
Please advise.

when your phone connects to the wifi does it obtain an ip address?
I believe so, it even shows connected to xyz network. But when I start browsing...nothing!
Oddly enough, even when I try to connect to those free wifi networks which require 'sign in' as opposed to username/password. The 'signin' page doesn't open either!
I would have reflashed stock firmware to see if it solves it, otherwise it must be some hardware failure.
Sent through time and space from my s3mini/CM11
ok, thanks. I will check it out over the weekend.

Well, I just moved to a new house and reinstalled my wifi router. And since then my N1 does not see my home network, while it detects all the neighborhood ones!! In fact it did detect it once and then stopped. I tried to install it manually, it didn't work either. I also tried to install wifi manager from the market after doing lots of research on the subject, and it worked once and then disappeared again...And that is very frustrating.
Note: all other pda and pc at home detect the network.

Your router is named? On channel 1-11? Is of a supported encryption type?
Yes named, no space in the name. WEP encrypted.
Strange thing is that it saw it once or twice and then never again... And it still detects fine other networks :S

For S&G try turning off WEP temporarily.
Not like WEP is any kind of security anyway.
Will try...
Solved
After weeks of researching: Nexus can only connect to routers set on channels 1 to 10. So anything above 10 won't be detected.

Not true, my Wifi is always on channel 11 and always connects...make sure you aren't on N wifi at 5Ghz ONLY because the N1 only works for 2.4Ghz

Then it must be 1 to 11
Just for "academic" purposes, can you set your router on a channel > 12 and tell us if it works?
Thanks
Just tried mine, channels 12 & 13 are fine, 14 is not.
Sometime ago faced same problem. After moving to custom rom my nexus have lost my AP
Try to set-up available channels on nexus by moving to "wifi/advanced/domain-blablabla"
My one works on #13
Dont forget yo do same thing with yours ap/router
Any ideas on how I can get vpn working? I am trying to connect to VyprVpn. The Note says it has connected but nothing works. I.e. I try to go to a web site but it won't load.
My laptop and my Acer Iconia all work fine with the same settings.
I think it's a problem with Android as my S II had the same issue. However if any one has any suggestions...
I am having the same problem. I connect to the VPN and it has the key and says connected. no data will work while it is connect. My IT guy says it is connected buy no data is going in or out. I try to connect to my RDT and it times out. Settings work fine on the iPhone and iPad.
+1 I have the same problem on both S1 and note.
Any ideas?????
Success, use l2tp
Following another post, I got it working using these instructions for l2tp:

Still not working for me - did you connect over wifi?
l2tp works for me over wifi and mobile
Same problem here when trying to connect to my firm's VPN.
Works smooth over wifi but nothing on 3G (it says connected but I can't do anything). Just once it loaded half page.
Vodafone says is not their problem.
try this http://www.purevpn.com/tutorials.php
I'm facing the same issue connected to my OverPlay VPN, anyone managed to find a solution?
Use l2tp or upgrade to ICS.

Hi,
I'm at a conference and I've lost wifi access from my XPZ (C6603). I'm on stock 4.2.2 build 10.3.1.A.2.67
The phone connects to the main network, but then there's no internet access. My colleague has a XPS and connects without a problem and mine was working yesterday. I have access when connecting through LTE but I'm paying roaming
Google chrome tells me error: DNS_PROBE_POSSIBLE. I have tried many things already google search for the problem, restart phone several times, forget network, changes in DNS from DHC to static, ...
Any solution before trying to re-install the phone firmware?
Thanks a lot!:crying:

In the meantime, the problem solved by itself. When I returned to the hotel I had no problem in connecting to the hotel's wifi and then the next day I could connect at the conference site.
So it seems that some how the problem is in between the phone and the router that gets stuck to an IP address and the solution passes trough either connecting to a different hotspot or reseting the routers.

As it turns out for my situation is that the hospital has been having Internet issues. Perhaps all they need to do is reset the router. Considering I'm hooked up to several machines, I'll continue to use my mobile data.

Hi guys, this morning I received the notification that an update was ready (4.4.2 update, I live in Italy but my One is from Norway). Well, just ended the update, and since that moment, I' m not able to connect to any Wi-Fi network, even if from favorites. It founds networks, says connection in progress, and then nothing. Has anyone founded this kind of problem?

Just solved, the problem was the Wi-Fi protection. It seems to not connect on router with Wep, in Wpa everything works like a charm.

Yep, alot of firmware versions do have issues with WEP encrypted WiFi networks.
WPA is the way to go.

Good to know. I never knew about this problem...
Tried again with my router (Netgear DG834G v3), and my One won't connect in Wep neither in wpa. This morning i have tried with another router (an HTC One used like hotspot) and it was ok.
Now I've tried with that other router in wep, and it connects too. Before the update everything was ok with the netgear...someone can help me?

I am also having problems connecting to a Netgear router with WPA security after the update to 4.4.2 (ARHD 51), anybody have an idea what could be causing it? I could connect fine before upgrading to 4.4.2
You try this:
Change the device name under Bluetooth, restart device and connect to WiFi router again.
Sorry guys, I found solution 3 days ago, but didn't post it thinking I was the only with this problem. To solve it, go in settings, Wi-Fi, click on three dots up on the right, advanced and then mark the last voice in the menu (in italian I nave "IP automatico DLNA", and I think in english is " IP automatic DLNA"). It turn works in Wep, wpa, wpa2...everything)
Previously saved Wifi's not connecting after 4.4.2 update

Hey there,
I seem to having the same problem. After updating my HTC one to android 4.4.2 I cannot connect to my WIFI anymore. The wifi is connecting and then nothing happens anymore. Can anybody help me with this
Thank you!
1. go to your router setting>> wireless setting>> disable the password required.
2. connect to your home WiFi from your device, see if connected (hope it does)
3. go to your router setting>> wireless setting>> enable password required (WPA/2)
4. connect to your home WiFi from your device with the new password.
It works for me, hope i helped.
To fix wi-fi problem on 4.4.2 android you have to rename Wi-fi Direct device name.
To do that you have to go:
WiFi - then 3 dots - WiFi Direct - 3 dots - Rename Device - HTC One.

IT WORKS FOR ME!! I just had to register here to say thanks, but this really works for me. Was using my room wifi running WEP, after a 300+mb 4.4.2 update to my HTC One, it just kept hopping between scanning and connecting and scanning.....was frustrated with it. I tried with another router, running WEP too and going out the same internet pipeline and it worked, just not my room router.
tried manually inputting mac address at my room router but didn't work, turn off/on multiple times but nope, was wondering if router problem or phone problem.
but then i change the displayed device name from Android_524b to HTC One case sensitive and voilah, it immediately worked, pick up the nice beloved wireless signal on the notice bar, and everything back to normal.....
no hard reset, no router re programming, no tearing the whole house to reprogram every darn piece of equipment. thank you so much
(btw, my router is a super old netgear g connection 2.4ghz adsl modem router. tried the frequency band changing to 2.4ghz but had no effect earlier)

Hi,
at first sorry for my english, it's not my main language. At second, I searched but didn't find anything here about my issue.
I set up 2 vpn connections in my P20 Pro (one to work, one to my home). Both vpn connections are working if I am connecting from mobile network connection. But the connection won't establish when trying to connect from a Wi-Fi (doesn't matter which, tried several different Wi-Fi's). The ports are open, the credentials etc. are correct and it's working from Wi-Fi on another Smartphone without problems.
I go to the vpn-menu, hit connect and 1 second later I get the message "not successful" for both connections.
Does anyone have an idea what could be the problem? Is it a known problem?
Thank you in advance
Best

I had the same issue. VPN connection was correctly set up to an AVM Fritzbox 7490.
Always used to work with my previous phone, stopped working when I started using my new P20.
When I read your comment a few minutes ago, the VPN connection (no settings changed) all of a sudden worked when I checked.
You may want to retry and check if it works. I don't know if some firmware update fixed the problem in the meantime, but now it works on my device.
Oliver.
I'm using Tunnelbear VPN on my Pro, and so far no problems with using it on wifi. Maybe just restart your Pro.

I have to correct myself here.
Unfortunately it looks like after a fresh reboot the VPN connection over WIFI works. Then after a couple of hours, it fails. Whereas the VPN connection over mobile data works a few seconds after the failed WIFI attempt.
Rebooted - VPN connection over WIFI successful again.
Pretty annoying.
Oliver.
Hi,
sorry, I forgot to post here. For me it worked after turning off "WiFi-Calling" and restarting the phone. I also would like to have WiFi-Calling because of bad cell reception at work but VPN is more important for me.
To be clear, this issue only persists when using integrated android VPN functionality. I didn't try other VPN-Apps from the play-store or somewhere else because I don't use 3rd party VPN-connections.
I didn't try to enable Wifi-Calling and testing VPN after the last upgrade (last week or so). Maybe they fixed it?
Best

Interesting; I didn't know Android now has built-in VPN; going to check it out. (Awhile ago, I decided to go with either Tunnelbear or OpenVPN because they seemed to be the only VPNs that had independent security audits done.)
