hi guys,
i have just received my new kindle fire hd 7" 2013 running 11.3.1.0 i have not connected it to the internet to stop auto updates.
i have ran the root script and believe it has worked but not 100% sure. i am trying to install es file explorer and supersu but cant find any way to do so without connection and downloading from the store. i dont want to conect my kindle just incase it auto updates and un does my root(if it has worked), what i want to do is check for root, if its worked, use es file explorer to stop the auto updates happening. i have the APK files for both ES and SU.
my question is how do i install them?
any help would be greatly appreciated
kind regards
D
Make sure adb is enabled on kindle
Plug Kindle into computer

There is no stock file Explorer on Kindle. You have to downloaded it from Amazon first. I believe there is a root option for the most recent option as well.

Ok, so I set everything up on my computer and then ran the qemu root program. It went through all the steps, rebooted my kindle a few times and then at the end said I was rooted. It mentioned I may need to reboot.
So I got google play's apk on there and installed it but it won't open. It says "Google Play Store Has Stopped" everytime I open it.
So I put ES File Explorer on the kindle and went to the settings to check root. It doesn't work.
What am I doing wrong? It seems there are no guides to root the kindle fire 2 non hd, and all I could find were guides to root the kindle fire hd.
Please help
-Thanks

Just installing Google Play apk will not work. You have to install vending.apk/phonesky.apk as a system app. You can download phonesky.apk from link below. It is the new version of vending.apk, the play store instead of the market. Like the post above states move to system/app folder, change permissions to rw-r--r--, then install.
Also make sure GoogleServicesFramework.apk(link below) is installed, no need to install in system folder just normal install will work. If they still don't work just try re-installing. It took doing this three times one of the times I did it before it worked.
Phonesky.apk-

OK, I got google play to work and install apps via your help above.
But what's odd now is that I can't get root write access anymore. How on earth did that happen?
Anyhow, what I'd really like to do is replace the amazon launcher with a standard android one. Am I able to install cyanogenmod on this baby? Any links to aid me for that one or for any custom rom?
-Thanks

No custom roms as of yet. Hashcode has developed a way to get past the bootloader but still testing. So custom roms should be an option soon.
Use this link for new launcher:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1915493
Personally I prefer apex launcher, gives you a good ICS feel. Also you can hide the notification and nav bars to have full screen.
Ok, so ES file manager says I'm not rooted anymore, but google play store works and can install apps just fine.
What is going on? How do I get es file manager to let me r/w in the "root only" folders?
Also, how do I get the go or apex launcher to be the main launcher and to come up when I touch the home button?
-Thanks
Kindle Fire HD 7.2.3 rooted
Hi Guys,
I have successfully rooted my new Kindle FIre HD 7.2.3 with following method.
Root Step 1: Run Root MANY ANDROID! http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1886460.
Did not need to do the step 2 (Run Qemu automated root http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1893838. )
I can see super user in apps and i can mount /system as read/write using es filexplorer.
I had downloaded the following apk.
GoogleServicesFramework.apk
Vending.apk
Gplay3.8.17.apk
Installed GoogleServicesFramework.apk first and rebooted kindle fire hd.
Moved Vending.apk to /system/app with permissions of rw-r-r and installed from there.
I could see the market app in apps drawer but it does not start. Any idea ?
Thanks,
Dev

Update:
The Google Play store started working once I have used the GoogleServiceFramework.apk from following post.
http://www.androidauthority.com/kindle-fire-hd-7-inch-install-google-play-store-123353/
So, I cannot register my Kindle with amazon, therefore I have no access to amazon in order to get a file explorer. Without a file explorer I cannot see/find/open an APK file to install a program.
I was going to use the root here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2096888 , however the kindle I have is version 7.46, and i believe incompatible with that kfirstaide. So, How can I install a file explorer, to my kindle fire hd 7, without a file explorer?
again connecting to amazon via registration is not an option.
Thank you
Use this to root: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460
From there u can side load the Google play store using kffa I think.

Alright so I have a 2013 kindle fire 7" hd with OS 11.3.2.1
After doing some research, I discovered kyleberry's solution for a root to the current fire is 11.3.2.1, and the rooting process went well without issue. I checked via ES File Explorer and root checker, and both confirm root status. However, I have noticed that when I try to download a game from Amazon cloud or from Amazon directly, that I can click "download" and it Will say download started but will stay at 0% and never progress. I'm not sure if this is due to the root and it blocking the Amazon app store IP or something else. I can't download the app directly from Amazon to my PC, as Amazon won't let me download directly to my PC. Looking for help here as to what's going on and how to fix this.
I have tried to root this using Root with Restore by Bin4ry and the KFFA toolkit and I am having no luck. The thing just recently updated to FireOS 4.5.2 on Dec 13 (The build number is 11.4.5.2 or at least that's what it says in the root checker program). After trying to root using KFFA, now if I try to load any game or go into Silk browser and try to type something in the address bar it reboots. I can get into ES File Explorer and The Washington Post app just fine, it just seems like the games and browser are causing the issue. I am thinking about trying a factory reset but really don't want to go that route if I don't have to. Are there any root exploits working for this kindle and FireOS version yet? What could be causing the kindle to reboot when loading a game? Thanks!

Just tried something else, looks like it is not Silk Browser, it is the keyboard that is causing the reboot. I brought up ES File Explorer and tried to search for something and it rebooted as well.

Well, oddly enough it seems to be working now, not sure wtf is going on, but I still need to get root if possible on this thing.
I'm on a Apple Laptop OS X 10.11.6 Beta (15G7b)
Fire tablet $50 from Amazon.com
I wanna remove adds, install google play store or install stock pure Android OS. Is there any one click's out there for Apple users? Is there anything out there for Mac owners?
You shouldn't need a computer at all to root, just install es file explorer from the app store on the device, go to your settings and enable apps from unknown sources, and a root app from the browser (i suggest towel root) and use es file explorer to find the apk file and install from there, you can also install other app stores from there. as for custom os, you should be able to do it from osx, if not use bootcamp to dual boot linux onto it and do it from there, you can uninstall linux afterwords if you want.

I've used this method to root about 50 Fire 7" tablets. Though, I'll warn you, I came to this forum because I just got done with a batch of 20 (arrived today, purchased 2 days ago) and on one of them, Amazon appears to have blocked this method.
