Hello all,
I am on the French version of firmware .761 and on doom kernel with unlocked bootloader. I have been notified of a firmware update to the same version I'm on. See attached photo. Does anyone know if it would be safe to update over the air perhaps if I flash stock kernel back as it's similar firmware?
Cheers,
Lunar.

I'm on UB and I have an update info. I'm on am custom Rom work with .757 I don't know if it work
Everything I have read has.stated quite clear to.never update via Ota or seus as it will brick the device.
I believe there is a warning ⚠ on sonys site for ul.

SUS or PCComapnion will not work with an unlocked bootloader, so no need to worry about that
OTA updates will not brick the device, it just causes problems, and may result in a soft brick (Which is not really a brick at all because its fixable)

update your kernel to one based on .761 and it should stop update notifications

Hi I've got 2 questions.
1. I've for some time had an unlocked bootloader on my Z and I've installed another ROM, PAC man, but now when I plugged in my device to Sony PC Companion I get a message that I've got an new firmware available, shouldn't PCC recognized the phone as unrecognizable?
Sorry that it's in swedish but translated it stands: An update of the phone's/tablets firware is available

}
A new version of the phone's/tablet's firmware is available
(10.1.1.A.1.253)
Bla bla bla
Click Update to start the updateguide.
2. I was wondering if there are any problem to install/update to .253 using PCC when on unlocked bootloader and another ROM? If I ever want to restore, could I use this instead of my .ftf if I want to factory reset it too, as an alternative to Flashtool?
Thanks
//TheHawk002
My experience is that PCC says there is an update for my device, which of course there is, but it wont update when I tried with unlocked bootloader .

Let me know when it does . No really you will be fine.
You will have a message:your phone has a modified software and the update will not carry on.
You can go back to stock by using emma,it's only for unlocked bootloader or of course with flashtool.
To use pcc or sus update's capabilities you will have to flash a stock rom and relock the bootloader with flashtool(no need for TA).

Yepp after downloading all files, then when I put the phone in flash mode it told me that the firmware were modified but I did at least get an ftf from it ( @DevShaft )

I'm trying to unlock the bootloader of my C6603 and I keep getting errors or bootloops. My bootloader can be unlocked according to the attached screen.
I tried with Minimal ADB and I'm getting bootloops and with Sony Bootloader Unlock it's failing, according to this pic:

Drivers are installed correctly.
What's the catch?
Try using the fastboot package provided by DooMLoRD in his thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2153261
Also, the unlock key they send you is case sensitive, so double check what you're entering.

I tried with DL's method and just tried with FT. STILL getting BOOTLOOPS !
Try flashing a stock FTF with full wipe, then try again.
Also, I just noticed that your IMEI number is in your screenshot. I would remove it from the image if I were you.

Tried it. Still getting bootloops.
Then I can't think of anything else apart from trying a different USB cable/port or PC, but that probably won't make any difference.
When I unlocked my bootloader it worked straight away with no problems.

It worked on my XS. Looks like this one is a mystery.
Edit: CLEAN flashed it and tried an other port. Worked. Thanks for the suggestion!
You're welcome.

As I remember, flashing an unlocked-BL phone won't relock it, right? I'd like to relock it after gaining root on the .569.
That's correct.

Don't forget to backup your TA before you unlock the bootloader. Otherwise you'll loose your DRM keys forever and won't be able to re lock your bootloader

If you are still on stock-ROM including stock-recovery, then you will receive the OTA.zip. But to install it, you have to do a full unroot in SuperSu settings.
I tested all my links, not sure which one is broken they all work to me. Which update do you need I can send it to you
My phone have 21-11-24 not 23 :s

Hello. My phone is xperia z1. I wanna backup all my user and system apps. After formating my phone, I wanna restore them as they are arranged previously before formating. Please, look at the below picture, I wanna restore them as it is shown in the picture. I do not want to sort them one by one after formatting.

root your z1 and install recovery, so you will have the chance for a full backup, and when you restore, everything will be as it was before
I updated picture I attached.

1. You need to root your phone first,
2. Once your phone is rooted, then you can have a custom recovery partition on your phone.
Sent from my C6903 using XDA Free mobile app
sony phones do not have RECOVERY option buit in, you have to install it like a patch. but to be able to do it, you must have extra rights to modify your phone system files and this process is called rooting. rooting method depends on phone model, software version of your phone etc. I advice you to search or google for xperia z1 lollipop 5.02 (or 5.1.1) rooting, then, you can add recovery using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2261606
if you want to have a rooted firmware, you can prepare it by yourself too by following http://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony/tool-prfcreator-easily-create-pre-t2859904

I think it is better to prevent user to downgrade their Phones. As you know, since Android 5.1.1 released, Google replace the Samsung Reactivation Lock with their Factory Reset Protection. But in the lower versions of the android, there is many way to bypass this protection on Samsung Devices. Samsung fixed it on their security patches. Just imagine that if user can downgrade their phone to any version of android, when a thief steals the phone, they can easily to bypass it and make the phone become theirs.
Thank you for replying but I am still clueless if I can downgrade that specific android version I showed in screenshot above.
no one?
Have you tried TEKHD's stock-rooted 5.1.1?
You cannot downgrade... Once bootloader is upgraded there is no way back. You can try but highly you'll end with bricked device ... Also if you try custom roms they wont boot due to mismatch bootloader and recovery. Maybe if you search google you will find a way to do it but if i was you i would not take the risk
