Did you try and hold the reset button? Hold it until your phone shuts of and vibrates 3 times if the button is broken you can either:
A: wait for the battery to die
B: send it to service center

Waiting for discharge since 6 hours, cause phone had 93%
Else you can disconnect the battery.

Okay I got it to show up in adb and rebooted it. Now I am stuck at the boot screen and I can't get to recovery, and it won't show up in adb.
just happened to me and adb does not work either.
Edit - Phew just fixed it. Had to install the driver again and got it to reboot with adb.
To reboot the phone without ADB, just hold down the Vol Up and power button for 9 seconds, the phone should shut down. If it doesn't try again. Might take a try or two but I've always been able to reboot that way after Aroma hard freezes.

Actually to force reboot into recovery it's power+ vol down.

I didn't mean reboot into recovery, this is just to shut the phone down after it froze and you can't do anything else. Like when Aroma crashes. I don't know if it's a real button combo, but I found that it worked, it just happened that last night that I reinstalled my rom and tweaks for trickdroid, and it would freeze. I found holding down power and immediately pushing the Vol Up button, after 9 seconds it will shut down. If it doesn't, try again. It'll work, frustrating, but it works.
On a side note, is there a manual out there somewhere that has all the button combos?
Force shutdown, recovery, bootloader, Safemode, stuff like that.
No issues force shutting down the phone using what I did, or getting into fastboot & recovery and stuff, but would be nice if there would be a writeup or a guide on this.
Cheers
Sometimes the forced shutdown doesn't work. You can sometimes use adb to reboot but that doesn't always work either. You just have to let the battery die.
Yep, experiencing this right now! the button combo doesn't work, adb wont recognize the phone, waiting for it to die

The leading hypothesis is that HTC built in a safe guard against you accidently managing to push PWR + VOL DWN when your phone is in your pocket.
I really wish I could remember who I got that fix from--that guy deserves a medal!

Usually when the phone is stuck like that it is registered in ur pc as the phone being off so nothing works when the phone is frozen in aroma lol the only thing that works on the phone is the sensor in that case. I am not too sure but I know for sure the sensor have something to do with the light adjustment of ur screen light when ur in the sun it gets brighter when ur in the dark it gets dimmer even putting the phone to ur ear the sensor tells the screen to turn off and on. Even with the soft keys they don't light up until night time. So when ur phone freezes like that the only thing that knows the screen is actually on is the sensor and if ur in the dark the sensor would not detect it as being on until u put it in some light which makes the power button shut the phone off. This works on HTC Butterfly and the htc one series plenty ppl asked me about it lately on the one x and so on

I had this issue and sent back to Sony under warranty, had notice to say should be back in 24-72 hrs.
If you don't have option to send to Sony try phone store and get them to remove battery and flash stock again....or if feeling brave do your self

Glad you got it sorted.
How did you turn off as your original post said you couldn't, just in case it happens again to me when flashing mods.

i hold on the power button (sleep/wake button) and the off button at the back. i hold them at the same time. after feeling 3 vibrations, release the power button. the device should turn off now. when you feel one vibration. it doesn't turn off the phone. the phone will just boot up again.
isnt there a soft reset button on the back of the phone (you know the button you use a pen to press it).

Hi, I have the same issue and I try this solution but it didn't work for me.
Because I want to try the trinity vengeance rom and I'm scared that if I have a bootloop, I can't turn off my phone.
Sorry for my english ^^

Hi, your problem is solved?
Edit: I found the solution in the other topic in Q/A.
I hold the power button with volume up and the off button at the back.
I wait 3 vibrations and the phone turn off. Thanks to xda community

Thanks to your guides I have found out a full solution for this. I'm come from Trinity...'s rom and have bootloop too.
1. Keep the device connected with PC by USB cable
3. Open and prepare a firmware in Flashtool
4. Flashtool notifies to have your phone connected in flashmode --> It's time to go
5. Press and hold combination of Volume Down + Power + Reset
6. After 3 times vibrating with GREEN Led blinking, have your fingers relaxed and your SP's been in flash mode then :good:
7. Bear in mind that you should be careful for the next time playing with Rom and mods!

I was surfing the internet on my phone in class today and I locked it for a second because my professor walked by and i went to unlock it and it kind of froze at the lock screen for a second, then i hit the power button to black the screen so i could try unlocking it again and it never came back on. I have tried everything i think. I tried holding it under a bright light while holding the power and volume buttons and tried booting into the bootloader but the phone just never responds. Am I completely screwed? Is there anything I can do other than try leaving it on the charger for a few days?

Connect it to your pc, go to device manager, check if it shows unknown devices.. If it does, update the drivers for that with windows update.. Now, if it shows something like Qualcomm HS USB dload, then you're hard bricked.. Just get it replaced by the service center, act innocent. I was in the exactly same situation a few days ago, now I'm waiting for them to return my phone after replacing the mobo free of cost

I was running CleanRom 6.0 with s-on. I am getting the Qualcomm thing so do you recommend I just take it to the AT&T store? Or should I send it to HTC?
so the guy at my local at&t store is having me take my phone to a place that will give me a replacement. I just dont know if they can find out that the bootloader was unlocked/i had it rooted(which voids the warranty) or if they're just gonna give me another phone.

If you can't get it to boot then I doubt at&t can. If the device is dead I'm sure they have to replace it.

They're not gonna find out they'll probably give you another phone.. If you take it to htc, they'll just have your motherboard replaced.

So I was trying to update my phone through Sony PC Companion, the files got downloaded. The only thing left was the phone to enter flashmode by turning it off and pressing volume down button while connecting USB port. When I did it, nothing happened....not even a notification light blink!!
Tried all different cables too (including original sony wire)
Also, I tried charging the phone normally after shutting down and not a single thing happened (no light, no screen battery indicator)
The phone is charging when it is on.
Please help me...I'm suffering a lot!!
And sorry for my bad english!!

Change the PHONE via warranty claim. Your hardware is damaged most probably.
You can do two things to confirm. backup your data and then hard reset your phone. Does it still behave the same way?
And when you turn your phone off and connect to PC, what do you see? Tell me exactly like do you see a shimmer of light and then its off or there is some kind of light etc. Just mention everything you can think about. Use flashtool and see if it connects in fastboot mode. (Not official FLASHTOOL) Here is the link : http://www.flashtool.net/index.php
Remember to connect your phone in fastboot according to your model. The instructions given on flashttol are of old device.
Good Luck
Try this
Unplug the usb as usual
Power off as usual
Then plug the usb cable while pressing volume down and also press power button for a two seconds. it will help u.
I also have the same situation like u but pressing the power button done me the trick.
