[Q] Purple tint fixed but now have green tint (india) - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello
So I paid the service tech at Chandigarh rs. 5000 to get my camera fixed.
The camera is near perfect now except when I look at white backgrounds there is a slight hue of green present.
The tech said that because my bootloader is unlocked and s-off he wasn't able to callibrate the phone correctly.
Can someone please tell me what to do?

WTF, you paid how much...?

replace the camera auto white calibration file:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2744757
you need an /system writable kernel otherwise the file must be replaced at each reboot.

I have a couple of questions;
1) Does elementalX allow me to do this?
2) Is this procedure permanent? I mean can I make a backup of the original file and replace it if it doesn't work out
3) Will I need to replace this file everytime I flash a new rom?

yes and no. If you keep using the same rom and you are using a writable /system kernel then yes. If you change your rom, no and if don't want to use a custom kernel, no.

ALWAYS make backup of stock files before replacing them and you should make a complete nandroid backup each time you try to mod your phone. You might also need to restore the stock awb file for future ota update (if you are on stock)
3) Will I need to replace this file everytime I flash a new rom?

Yes and No
We hope at some point, HTC will fix this issue OTA with a new awb file. If so, newer rom versions will probably include the fixed awb file and maybe some custom roms already fixed the file (to confirm). But atm the answer is Yes, you must replace the file everytime.

Lol, you think being unlocked/s-off would make it easier for them...
But I'm not buying that there is any calibration to be done. Mine was replaced by HTC in January. I have some green in low light.

I tried but was not able to copy the file over. I'm rooted/s-off, but I think it will only work on with a custom kernel. I could be wrong though.

Do custom roms invalidate the warranty?

Hi all,
after all the fuss about the nexus one warranty being broken by unlocking the device, does anyone know if Samsung's warranty is affected by installing a custom rom?
I did see a mention of it in one of the threads here, but the gist was basically if you flash an official firmware back on the phone, they won't know.
Does anyone know if this is true?
I don't want to go do something stupid to my new phone, and realise later I can't get it fixed.
Loving the screen on this device, and in person, it doesn't look as much like an iphone as I'd feared.
Both are true. If you flash a Rom you void your warranty but if you flash a stock ROM back they won't know the difference

hope this is true, and its one of the reason i gave up on NexusOne.

The only easy way to do a backup of your rom just to use titanium backup. You might be able to make a dump of your current state but that would involve adb and working on getting that dump into an odin file structure. There is no nandroid like service yet.

In our commitment to providing you with the best user experience, we are pushing out a new firmware update to your HTC Legend. Your phone will receive a notification of this update when it is made available. Simply press OK to accept the update via a data connection such as Wi-Fi or GPRS/3G. The new Build number after the update will be 2.06.708.2

Can someone make a Flashable rom out of this ASAP?

I assume all you'd have to do i take the rom .zip from the temp folder when you run the exe, then use even the basic android kitchen to root it and then rezip that shizzle. Am i correct? If so, i'm happy to have a go =]

I too would like to know if this is all that's needed. Lets get some training in for when the Froyo update arrives and we want a rooted update.zip the same day
If you gonna root it, make sure you use the "good" root app (the ninja one), not the crap one that locks up if you have USB debugging enabled (the blue # app).

can i dual boot?

can i dual boot 2 roms?
Yes and no. The closest thing to it is through an app called bootmanager that installs roms on your SD card which doesn't take long to switch between roms. But you can't truly dual boot off the phones internal storage.

Our device is not supported.
It won't help with trying to get the KU900 V30 to work on our P970 as it doesn't boot. I am not sure how they do this from what I can tell they boot much later by mounting their file image then booting from that. The problem we are facing happens before that, but it does look interesting.
EDIT: Those sizes you are looking for can very easily be found using any terminal emulator or adb shell.

To what extent does can it "emulate" the alternate ROM booting. Can we alter bootargs that are passed to kernel by u-boot. Their website actually tells me very little about how it is actually done.

Just the kernel won't help. We need to alter stuff before the kernel gets initialized and if we make a mistake then we might lose the ability to go into SW Update mode and we can't risk that.
We can easily re-flash kernels as is so that's not the problem.

The software update didn't fix anything, as reported by many users on xda.. It is a hardware fault, and you need to get your phone/camera replaced. Are you familiar with s-off? If yes then go s-off and
1. Flash a stock nandroid backup
2. Flash a stock recovery
3. Remove the tampered tag
4. Lock bootloader
You can also use htc1guru's guru reset packages

I know that xda is the best place to go for info But I'd rather send him to a single site with a complete guide rather than sending him all over the place for a small guide to each and every step of the process. And the website is the only one with the biggest collection of One RUUs and OTAs and a new method to get back to stock on s-on phones. And it's guide is pretty good. And it is maintained by an XDA member
http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=4139782
So I guess that's justification enough?

Well, it is at least odd as the site you are referring to has no support by other members so it is only for those familiar with the material! Hence the OP came straight back to ask!
BTW, on the first and second page of the HTC One Development Section I was able to find every aspect regarding unlocking, rooting, flashing ROMs, and going back to stock. It took like 60 seconds!
The site might be nice but lacks the traffic you find here...
