A new case being developed on Kickstarter looks to have great promise and they now will have a HTC One M8 case so I decided to back them.
They are developing pretty cool back button technology integrated into the case.

looks kinda cool.
I went ahead and jumped in on this, looks interesting, will keep peeps updated
No, guys ...why to have a case or a skin when you can have the pressy? Is the same thing.

Because you can use your heaphone and have 3 buttons instead of one + it's a case, all at ~ the same price ?

It's one button but it depends how you press it. But in the end I don't use my headphones?.

The long press/short press feature/function is also available on the cliq case, so you still have 1 vs 3 buttons. Also for the M8 the location at the bottom is impractical in my opinion.

The main difference between Pressy and Cliq is that Cliq uses some sort of NFC. Pressy just uses the same signals your headphone buttons use. I'm sure there are already apps out there that lets you program your headphone buttons to perform Pressy like tasks.
IMO I'd just use Pressy as a camera shutter button. In the end I'd use both at the same time to quell indifferences lol.
I might have to back this case. I'm not convinced they'll make their target though.

I'd rather get the Cliq at least for the M8 mainly because of where the headphone jack is. A button there would be really awkward to press which means I would never use it..

It looks like the chinese are faster in producing replicas than the "originial" brand massproducing the actual stuff(and cheaper):

I saw the Pressy and thought it looked kind of cool but I do use my headphones and also connect the phone to the Aux port in my vehicle. I figured in my case I would just loose the Pressy in the first week I had it.
I also backed Cliq on kickstarter, it's gonna be September though when it releases for HTC one... Hmmm

7 days to go and they're only just over half way funded. Doubt they'll make it to be brutally honest folks.

Anyone with a black HTC One yet?
Which bumper/case are you planning on getting with it?
I think I'm going for the black, need to play with it in the store to be 100% sure. I figure I need to wait until April for them in the UK, however, the thing looks f*cking NINJA. Like a stealth fighter dropping bombs all over the cheap and tacky tat that was the Android mobile phone selection.
If you have a Black One, let me know what your experiences with it have been like, build quality, videos, scratching, prints or marks, etc.
:good:
Doubt there will be any black retail before April (possibly late April / May)

Sorry but any high end bumper for example galaxy phone will always be of higher quality than you could fine for the one.
To me it is pointless to buy a one for build quality if you plan to put any kind lf casing on it.

I contemplated not writing this. In tech sometimes we require so much perfection, we forget what's actually important to us. Furthermore we forget that any software issue can be conquered by the great devs here at XDA. With the fear of sounding hypocritical, here's why I found myself going back to the HTC One after a short two week affair with the S4.
I had very real issues with my silver HTC One. The S4 was the answer to those issues. After a couple weeks with the S4 I really missed one thing about the HTC One - the camera. I have 2 babies and after missing several pictures of them over the past couple weeks I became very frustrated with the slow launch and slow picture taking of the S4. I was enjoying all the other features but this was beginning to stick in my crawl. So I really researched the issues I was having with the HTC One. I found out that the brightness quick toggle was solved through Viper Rom and menu button was easily mapped to a short hold of the back button.
Now I had a problem because I was torn between going back to the HTC one (most of which for me all had build issues) or staying with the S4 and waiting for developement to speed up camera and some of the overall lag I was experiencing. So I went out to Best Buy and decided to check out a black HTC One. I don't know if it's simply because the manufacturing was updated or refined but it was perfect. Zero gaps, seemless bezel and no dead or stuck pixels. Having only one trade left at best buy I made the leap and swapped back to the HTC One. I think this was a great decision. Again a big factor was the camera, being able to post edit my shots - remove people from the background and make a drama shot without having to put it in that mode before shooting the picture is really fast and convenient. I in one day caught 3 great pictures that I would have needed to adjust settings on BEFORE taking with the S4. Pictures I think I would have missed with the S4. Also I didn't realize how different (brighter and somewhat crisper) the HTC One screen was. There will of course be sacrifices with the HTC One, no swappable battery, awkward placement of power button and no multi-window. But, the tradeoff is one I'm ok with. Black HTC One made the difference for me.
No offense, but wall of text is extremely hard to read.
Welcome back, I think?

Thanks, I broke it up a little. I honestly am glad to be back. I had some issues with the HTC one and panicked a little but with this new one I'm definitely enjoying HTC and especially glad to have ZOE back. It's really a standout feature.

I am about to end my remorse period and am 50-50 on the phone. Love it but gets too hot and eats too much battery sometimes (I'm a light user). I like it but I also got a SGS4 for my friend and I keep staring at it...
So, why panic mode? Thinking of returning... or?

Glad I can help. This has been a hard decision for me but I'm glad to finally settle with the HTC One and think I've made the best decision for me.
In my opinion, figure out a way to swap for the black. I don't know if it's because of a refined manufacturing process, Better materials or what - but the difference between the two colors is night and day. No misfires pushing the back or home buttons and no gaps anywhere. I'll post pics when I get home. If you bought from sprint and go in to change color they'll charge a restocking fee. I would recommend pointing out a flaw with the silver (I'm sure you probably have one) and ask to change to a black one as you have heard reports of better assembly and less issues. If you bought from Best Buy or the like you can swap without fee's. That's why I almost exclusively by phones from Best Buy now.

I agree, Best Buy was the way to go for me. Ended up getting data error 104 all the time on my first one.....exchanged the phone 6 times per sprint techs requests before I figured out they had my SIM ID incorrect on my account. The One (silver) I have is absolutely perfect now.

I spent less then a week with the S4 before I gave in to my overwhelming felling of missing an HTC device. I liked some of the features but the phone just felt cheap and the Sprint service in my area doesn't seem to play well with Samsung Phones. Lots of dropped calls and frequent signal fluctuations. Love the ONE very happy I made the switch...
Well my girlfriend just dropped her HTC First that she got less than a month ago on our linoleum floor and the screen completely spider-webbed. And when I say "completely" I mean the ENTIRE screen. The "gorilla glass" they supposedly put on this phone is more like fine China. It didn't even land on the actual screen....
Anyway, are there any replacement screens out for this thing yet? I know it just came out and my question will most likely fall on deaf ears but figured I would give it a go. Also a disassembly guide would be beneficial as well.
Thanks in advance

dude first of all gorilla glass only protects against scrachs not falls and not yet for the screen there ain't any around so be more careful with ur newly purchased phones
2 feet onto some soft linoleum should cause this type of damage I'm sorry. I've dropped my HTC one x onto the corner of a vice at work directly onto the screen and nothing happened. And also, the so called "insurance that we have said it would be 199$ to fix it and HTC gave me a quote of 150$ to fix it. Nice to know everyone stands behind the quality of some products.....
How about you tell my girlfriend to be more careful with her newly purchased phone? Wont really help too much at this point.

very carefully lol theres a video for the htc one xl that shows how to separate them but there is a disclaimer not to do it if you are not a pro. You can try and see if a repair store will do it for you if you bring them the parts or wait till they sell them in one piece.

But since the glass is partially crumbling, wouldn't it be easier to separate it from the LCD ? Anybody has successfully repair his First ?

i bought HTC One because its Aluminum body and premium feel, if you dont care the feel of your phone or the sensation you get when you hold it.
go with the butterfly s
yeah i know i loooooved the aluminum unibody,,,its SUCKS big time that there is noo micro sd., but the 64gb is like 280$ more than the 32gb, and am sure i wont need all that space, and now the red one is out, and i have another problem for the color thing....silver or red, cuz black sucks.
Feeling with you, I just love red-black so the butterfly seemed like the natural choice...until I got to use one for a few days. It just feels cheap somehow, too lightweight for my likings. Settled for the black One and till now I didn't regret it. The One really feels premium.
DONE. bought the htc one silver 64gb 4g ....hehe....
