Hey guys I did a factory reset to turn of that Verizon backup assistant and I now have the old market. Anyway to get the new one back? No I'm not rooted

The market should update itself after the phone being on for a bit. Give it a few minutes and see if it doesn't update.

ahh yes i forgot about this trick thanks alot man worked like a charm!!
I have a 2 week old Droid3 right out of the box. Twice now the 5 home screens have reset to the factory default grey and black wallpaper with default icons. All apps and phone settings are still ok. Thought maybe Winamp, PlayerPro, or Dolphin were recent apps installed that needed to be uninstalled. Still happening. Has anyone else seen this problem? Verizon and Motorola have no records of similar issues. Thanks!

There's no guarantee that there in't a bug and it could come back. I forgot to include in my original post is that it happened to a colleague's phone the same afternoon it last occurred for me. I'd like to find root cause rather than "rebooting" the phone.

I've not hear of this happening on the Droid 3 nor have I experienced it. The most likely cause is a rogue app or corrupted piece of software. If that is the case, a factory reset is the fix. If that doesn't work, its likely an incorrect ROM on the device. In which case, a factory reset is the resolution. By using the word "colleague" you imply that you too may use the phone for the same purpose, which would imply you would install similar apps. This goes back to software that you've installed. Factory reset is your permanent resolution. May not be the most convenient, but is definitely the most reliable.
same exact thing happens to my brothers. his notifications are now changing too. he's getting sick of this.

so, my front soft keys somehow disappeared, and I cant get them back; in the settings menu, there is no longer an option for them, and I have no clue how they went away...
any suggestions?
I uninstalled xposed framework, and gravity box, in case that was the issue, and have rebooted many times, but still not there..
thanks!
Not sure if you can or if it would help but did you try another launcher? Maybe a reset but not sure if that would even work.

Is your expanded desktop on from xposed?
Try factory reset as your last resort. Did you mess around turning them off with xposed?
Sent from my LG-D959 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
-tried a different launcher, and it didnt work
-re-installed xposed, and gravity box, and made sure expanded desktop was OFF, and it didnt work
-rooting had nothing to do with it, as I rooted a week ago, and everything was fine until last night
thanks so much!
This is one of the reasons I've been leaving my Flex stock til we get a recovery. I know with the G2, zips were made to shrink the keys. Not sure if you could even get them back if you had a zip like that. Maybe you can search G2 threads and find a way. Sorry I can't help ya.
yeah, I even did a factory reset just now, and they are still not there; even in the settings menu, the "front screen buttons" entry is gone..
I guess I'll take it back to T-mobile today and tell them I want it replaced..its only 11 days since I got it, so it shouldnt matter..
I cant imagine rooting had anything to do with it, since I rooted a week ago, and its worked perfectly until it just went out last night

Before you do that you should try restoring with wolfgart's thread downloads. If you're going to be changing stuff, its good to know how to fix a brick.

good advice; but frankly, after only 11 days, I dont even want to mess around with that.
plus, I am not sure if there is even a complete restore for Tmobile version yet
Can you pull your build.prop via adb and enable the software keys like that and push it back?

i thought about doing that, actually, but it was alot easier to just return it and get a new one today.
If it happens again, which it better not, I will try that.
I think Gravity Box was the culprit, after reading through the 500+ pages of that thread; it seems to play havoc at times with soft keys, so users beware..
That was one of the reasons why i was debating on getting this phone. Nothing beats a physical button.(that works...)

Maybe your case?
thanks, I exchanged my phone yesterday for a new one, but I will remember this going forward..
Opened up my phone to replace the middle plate, removed battery and all that but started back up fine. Now I notice there is no notification sounds, the speaker works for all other stuff like YouTube, volume steps, ringtone...but not MMS or hangouts.
Strange, any input?

Did you try clearing data for those apps? Possibly play services as well? After that, factory reset or factory image. Strange indeed. ???

Its not app related since even in the main system menu it doesn't work. I went back to stock image and nothing. I've read that doing a factory reset OEM lock will fix it.
All other audio works. Can't be because I opened my phone, I refuse to believe that.

Have you opened it back up again to double check? So strange that it's just notifications.

There is only a couple or cables that need disconnecting when swapping out the middle plate. So no, because it doesn't seem necessary. The cables are battery and wireless charging related...and since I'm powered on I assume its fine.
If anything I'll try hard reset and see what happens.

On chroma latest build, but was working before I opened it up.
I clean flashed AOiSP also, then restored to stock, now back to chroma.
Maybe I can try M, but this is a known problem I guess when googling around.

I asked if m because as a feature, there are no notification sounds when the screen is on, only when the screen is off. you still get notifications, and they vibrate, but no notification sounds with the screen on.

Odd, but no, even with the screen off there is nothing. I'm going to factory reset so I'll be back.

Factory reset and still nothing. I'm at a loss.
I was in the process of a warranty exchange for this device so i'm going to put this back together and get it sent back to TMO so I can use the replacement they sent me.

Hello everyone,
I have been having this problem for a few weeks now, and it has gotten to the point where I think something is SERIOUSLY wrong with my phone.
I have a 512gb UNLOCKED N960U1. Never rooted. I'm a little OCD with my app arrangement so i have every app on my phone in folders so i dont have to get a finger hernia scrolling through everything.
My problem is that I use low-power mode often. I also like to turn in on while driving, and charge my phone in the car that way. Lately when coming OUT of low-power mode, I've found that my apps have DUPLICATED. Every. Single. One. Doesn't matter if the phone is charging, or not. They duplicate, BOTH APPS OPEN, and I have to uninstall the second ones with no data loss to the original(?) one.
I also like to change my themes weekly. Thats what originally started the problems. Recently, after switching a theme out again, I found that the phone had emptied out my folders into a giant CF in my app drawer. Thinking "at least its not old school Samsung LAG", I just put them BACK. No biggie.
NO GO. I did that THREE SEPARATE TIMES. I have 425+ apps on my phone. Sometimes SOME of the apps will be removed from the folders, sometimes ALL of the apps.
The breaking point for me was when I took it off of low-power mode as I was leaving the car, and the apps spread back out, and SOME WEREN'T EVEN SHOWING. Furious, I knew I was going to use my tapatalk app to get onto XDA to ask for help or guidance. Tapatalk Pro is on my phone, but WAS NOT SHOWING IN THE APP DRAWER. So i searched for it instead. It came up in the SEARCH, but not alphabetically where it SHOULD be. Now when you find an app by searching, if the app comes up, you can long press it and it will give you the option to "locate" where the app is store on your phone (folder, which screen, etc.) When that was done, the phone froze briefly, and then did nothing.
Im at my wit's end on this issue. The most horrible part is that I can't find ANYONE who is having this issue other than me. Phone has not been dropped, no cracks, nothing.
What the hell is wrong with my phone??
This is the most horrific problem I've ever read on XDA is all my time here. Sorry that I don't have a solution to your problem, but just reading through your post is terrifying.

I think a logcat and developer tools may help. Have you tried Samsung service since you can easily replicate the problem in front of them?
Sent from my SM-N960F using Tapatalk
Are you using 3rd party launcher? If you don't use low power mode does it still happen. What are using to change themes?

No third party launcher. I use the standard, built in theme options when I switch themes, and the themes are downloaded from the Samsung theme app/store/part.

Unfortunately thats exactly what I did. I started putting my apps in folders as everything was downloading. I also began to get rid of apps because I figured that definitely didn't help.
By the time the phone finished downloading all my backup'd apps, the two apps I deleted were BACK, and the apps came out of the folders I had just put in. Back to the same situation. :silly::crying:

Since what you're experiencing is most likely a software issue, you may want to factory reset and try not restoring any of your backed up apps, just manually install the basic ones and see how it behaves for a few hours.

For 435 apps?
I'm reviving this thread because the problem continued on the the Note 10.
...then the Note 20U...
Now I'm too scared to try it on my Z Fold 3.
This is a SOFTWARE issue...not a specific phone or app issue.
