I bought a motherboard for xperia z1 online (spare part) to bring mine back to life, I replaced all of the glue stickers and back glass while I was at it. All worked fine and I was able to switch on the phone, except seller wasn't able to give me the unlock pattern and credentials to unlock.
So, I did the software update using sony software update and everything went smoothly without issue. It did nfc firmware update and restarted. But after restarting, touch screen stopped working completely.
Touchscreen was working perfectly fine before the software update but now I have tried updating the software using sony updater twice and have tried 2 different FTF files from here and still no go.
Phone is C6903 13W38 CB5
SI 1276-6018
TYPE PM-0450-BV
Phone is Telstra stock AU and I have only tried flashing Telstra FTF's.
Any help is appreciated :good:
Which firmware you tried? 757?
Try with a 534 but I really doubt that's the problem...
Maybe flat cable wasn't plugged goos and it disconnected after few shakes...

I'm asking because you could test then is that firmware problem or device.
I have drivers/app for BT keyboard and mouse on my device so if anything goes wrong with touchscreen I can navigate with it but you said you wiped all so there's no chance yoy have something similar...
Really don't know, it's probably faulty mbo...

In your case I will power off the phone, hold volume up and downgrade flashing .534, then I will instal the Dualrecovery, here as the touch-screen not working probably USB Debugging will be off but not sure if needed, also on .534 maybe you will have back the touch-screen? ..anyway, if you are lucky to install Dualrecovery then you will be able to boot into TWRP and check if the touch screen working, if not then is completely dead somewhere on hardware. BTW, to go back to Stock just 1 step, flash .757 via flashtool.

..and why your volume up button do not working? it was not the touch screen? you mess up with your phone....
Maybe you doing something wrong, power off your phone, if you cannot because your touch screen do not work then hold Power + Volume Up button and shot it down, when the phone will be off completely, hold volume up all the time and connect the phone to pc via USB, it should be recognized in Flashmode...

you should do a
repair with SUS followed by a factory reset (internal wipe) under settings then try rooting it again.

Every time it did a long boot and every time it said it was successful, but it still has the version ending on 290 when I go into my settings.
Ive reset and tried switching it off for a while it just won't change.

Hi there... right so I have first tried to repair my phone, but still the new update just will not load.
I am now going to try your advice, but I have never flashed a phone in my life. I am reading how to do it now. I have downloaded the Emma flashtool, but now have to unlock my bootloader - I have heard previously that this breaks the camera... will my camera break when I do this?

You have to use Flashtool v9.14, not Emma, and flash the latest .136 FTF from Here for your Model only, you don't have to Unlock Bootloader, you phone will be just fine and your Warranty will not be voided.
Turn Off your phone, keep pushing volume down and connect via usb the phone to PC, keep holding volume down all the time, let windows install drivers for flashmode, open Flashtool, before that put the FTF .136 in flashtool folder, now click Flash on flashtool and select the right FTF, uncheck everything except Wipe Data, Appslog, Cache, now click Flash, Hold volume down until the green bar of the process will start at the bottom, now you can leave your phone alone. Done.

Hmm coincidence it is that I have the same name.
Back ot:
Try removing 1 or both and see if the reboots are still happening. I had the same issue with mine and it is a factory stock phone. No provider brand and non rooted.
And magically after the 4.3 update it began with sudden reboots(with the message sim/USIM removed). Within a matter of days 2 or 3 they became that frequent that I removed my sim and that's also when the reboots stopped.
Called the provider and told them my sim caused the phone to reboot somehow after it got updated. They sent me a new one @ no costs.
Put the new one in and till today no reboots. Think that is about 1 or 2 weeks ago.

If you've tried different firmwares, and android versions. With/without sim/SDcards. You may have some faulty hardware.
Is your bootloader unlocked, have you tried any AOSP derived ROMs?

Try a 4.1.2 firmware for a few days, if the problems persist then it must be hardware related so you'd need to send it for repair.

Yea. Always been locked bootloader. Tried this with testing this without root (i think), because this rebootings happened when i had root, then i flash 4.3 stock thinking that flashing another fw will delete root also, am i right? Looking at my bootloader I do not think I am on the KK bootloader it gives me a date of 2013-09-25 I am assuming that is the original bootloader that it came with. Guess I'll do a search for the KK bootloader and see if I can get that flashed over.

To get the KK bootloader, I flashed the latest OTA through rsd lite. It should keep the boot loader unlocked but will remove root. If you plan on using a stock ROM, Q9Nap's GPE is very smooth and stable. Their thread gives links and instructions on how to flash OTA.
So the Frog has officially Croaked his Phone.
Yes you heard right I have managed to kill my phone. Only good thing is that I couldn't use it for much more than a mini wifi tablet so I didn't really loose anything.
I could not get Twrp 2710 to work was because I had the old boot loader So I decided to update the boot loader which I did but now the phone will not go out of the boot logo screen. I have successfully reinstalled my ROM and still will not go past the boot logo screen. I have tried fastbooting back to the old bootloader but no luck there either. I have spent about 2.5 hours this morning trying different things to get it to work and nothing I have found or came across will work. I have however successfully installed twrp 2710 and now have it working. Considering that is the only area of the phone That I can actually get into i guess thats something.
Some of the older Roms won't boot on the kk kernel they will not boot past the boot logo... When you upgraded did you flash the entire kk firmware via rsd? And it wouldn't boot past the boot logo...
