HELP : installing CM 10.2.1 - Sony Xperia ZR

hi,
a few days ago i upgrade my SONY XPERIA ZR from 4.3 android to 4.4.2 but unfortunately Mic problem during recording still exists, so i decide to install a custom ROM and as u know the best custom ROM is CM , then i download the last stable ROM that was CM 10.2.1 from its website ,then i understand if someone wanna install a CM ROM he should do some steps : 1) root the device 2) unlock bootloader 3) install CWM
so i did the first two steps and the third step i dont know how to find the compilable version and how to install it on my device and at last i dont know after these three steps how should i install CM 10.2.1 on my device , so can anyone please describe these steps with detail so that an amateur person like me do the steps easily , because nowhere on the web i couldnt find any clear installing method of CM ROM on Xperia ZR device.
anyway is there anyboday who installed this custom Rom on his/her device? is everything right with this custom rom? i really tired of install another rom and after install i find out it also have some problems!

First. Unlock your boatloader, than root, than, install recovery
Download and Copy zip files, firmware and gapps to sd card.
Go to recovery, do full wipe, install both zips, restart

By the way, easier way to install kernel with integrated recovery via fast boot....

[Q] Which is the best Gingerbread ROM (W8) for a newbie ?

Hi !
My cousin has asked me to help flash his W8 with 'New Software' to enable installing apps to the memory card ! I'm not an android user (I have Samsung Wave, bada os !) but I know a thing or two about flashing. I figured out that as the default os, android 2.1 doesn't support apps2sd (?), it needs an unofficial ROM (as Sony doesn't have an update coming) with a more recent android like Gingerbread or IcecreamSandwich.
And, I have some questions !
1. Which is best Gingerbread ROM interms of simplicity and reliability
Also, he says he need 'zoom' feature in the camera !
2. Here is the info about his W8
Code:
model e16i
firmware 2.1 update1
baseband m76xx-tsncjolym-53404015
kernal 2.6.29 SEMC
build number 2.1.1.A.0.53
Is there any need to update the baseband ?
3. After reading some tuts, this is the procedure I should follow ?
a. Flash latest firmware using SEUS (is it needed?) and enable debug mode for usb connection
BTW, after flashing latest firmware, do I need to flash the baseband ?
b. Root the phone
c. Install xRecovery or any other restore app as required by the ROM
d. Load the zip file containing the OS to the memory card and boot into xRecovery
e. Use the recover/update option to install the OS
f. Do factory reset
Did I miss something ?
4. Is there any way to install the Walkman player after flashing with the custom ROM ?
5. What about the drivers, I mean audio, display, camera etc ?
Is there any tangible improvements for modded drivers ?
Can you recommend a good set of drivers ?

Just from my opinion.
1.The Best GingerBread Rom, GingerDx/PrimeHD [for stock kernel/Costum Kernel] & MiniCm7 [ use Costum Kernel ] suggest use GingerDx.
Zoom Feature, Install Zoom FX Camera App from Google Play.
2.If the number 015 in last, I think No need to Flash baseband for update. but not very sure, you can use SEUS Software From computer for Update if you want to.
3.
a]If you already update with SEUS mean your baseband is already up to date.
b]Root you phone [yes] but only if you on Stock Kernel. [Bootloader still Unlocked]
c]Install xRecovery [yes]
d][No] You need make an Nandroid backup, And do fullWipe before install/flashing new ROM.
4.You can find W8 music Apk [Maybe]
5.OfCoz ALOT OF IMPROVEMENT! than The DAMN STOCK ROM
Sweetie no one can tell you what is the best ROM for your phone. We might have the same specs but we will have different experiences and results So the best way is to try and see it for yourself to start with try GDX.
bricked ?
Thanks guys for the replies
I had seen only the 'athulele's post and committed to it (followed the tutorial of 'JimDem' ) and now the phone is stuck at the "Sony Ericsson" logo, can't go to CWM or Freexperia recovery
This is what I've done !
1. Rooted using the X8toolbox
2. Installed Busybox 1.19
3. Installed Freexperia and CWM recovery
4. Created backup using Freexperia
5. Done Factory reset
6. 'Wiped'
7. Loaded "MiniCM7-2.2.0-shakira.zip" ROM zip file to the root of the memory card
8. 'Installed' it using CWM recovery
9. Tapped "yes" to a prompt asking like...full recovery or something (?)
AND now, its stuck at the Sony Ericsson logo
I'm on a slow internet connection so, flashing with Sony PC companion is my best bet ?
Is there any way to solve it without downloading any stuff ?

Mate, minicm7 rom use only with costum kernel (nAa 11 kernel). To install costum kernel you need to unlock the bootloader,(read warning unlock bootloader thread before something happen) Thats why you get stuck. I suggest you read the ultimate FAQ by lucastan96, or any sticky thread. Like I mention above. Better flash gingerDX rom which is working with stock and costum kernel.
And for repair download stock rom for x8 or use SEUS.

The date stamp is 11W38 => Its bootloader can't be unlocked according to that guy who started the Sticky thread
SO, I guess have to restore with SEUS, right ?
@Shimizux
Thanks man for the heads up !
I didn't look before I pulled the trigger on the MiniCM, my bad
I've downloaded SEUS and gonna repair it !!

I have downloaded the GingerDX ROM but there is some problem with SEUS as it is downloading very slowly. So, I'm downloading the X8 factory firmware from a Russian site, narod.ru.
The X8 firmware should work with W8 or would've to download the W8 factory ROM ?
Wells hostena
I'm have suspicion that the factory X8 ROM I'm downloading is Russian ! So, is there any option to change the language anywhere ?
I'm asking because I've never used an Android phone that long, not that accustomed to its way it works !!
BTW, is it OK to flash it (GingerDX) with CM recover or should I flash it with xRecover ?
Thank You !!
Hi guys !

Upgrade from V10D to CM10.1

Hi,
I am still running stock ROM (rooted but LOCKED and NO Recovery) and I would like to upgrade to CM10.1 Official.
I been reading around but there are so many methods to upgrade and unlock and root and stuff and a lot of users having issues, therefore I would like to know which method would be best to:
1. Unlock Bootloader
2. Install CWM
3. Upgrade Firmware to V20A
4. Install CM10.1
5. Any other cool stuff?
Anyone willing to help please? I don't need a long reply with details, just links to the best method thread of doing it would be great thanks! Too many methods around.
Regards
All the guides you need are here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2225910
First upgrade to JB, then unlock your bootloader using official method, if the official method doesn't work try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2251407
Easiest way to install recovery is through ROM manager available on Google play, you need to root before you install it though. After that you can use recovery to wipe data and flash cm10.1, good luck!
I also recommend you install this kernel with cm10.1, it gives extra governers, schedulers and overclocks the GPU: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2256899

[Q] Step By Step : How to [ Root + CWM + ROM ] Xperia Z1

First of all, I'd like to apologize to start this open question.
It looks like everyone is getting their phone working without any much extra tutorial required along with the XDA forum guides and ROM.

If you want to keep your warranty , the best way would be the following:
1) Use this guide to get root and recovery on stock .290 firmware : http://youtu.be/1aq9YTlfCgc
2) Once you have root, you will be able to back up your TA partition (DRM keys)
-if you don't know any terms or are confused look here: http://youtu.be/l78p_2ShPS0
3) Now that you have your TA backup safe you can go to official Sony website to unlock your bootloader: http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/
4) Choose a custom rom that you want, flash kernel and rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z1/orig-development
If you ever want to get back to stock. Use Flashtool to flash stock firmware, restore TA, relock bootloader.
Never attempt to restore TA on custom ROM - this will brick your device
If you don't care about warranty and don't mind loosing Bravia Engine, X-reality, Bionz etc forever; do the following:
1) unlock bootloader
2)Choose a custom rom that you want, flash kernel and rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z1/orig-development
1) Download the .ftf file named C6903 14.1.G.1.534 Global 1277-2880_R4A from the compiled FTF thread at this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2469191
This is a version of the original Stock Rom that the VROOT program will actually work on when trying to ROOT your phone.
2) Flash the ROM you downloaded using Flashtool (steps on how you can go about doing that should be in the Xperia Z1 General forum.) and now, you're ready to root your phone with it.
3) Download, install and run VROOT to root your phone. Again, more information on how to properly root your phone using VROOT can be found in the Xperia Z1 General forum. For me, I just turned on USB Debugging on my Z1, connected my phone to my computer while VROOT was running and clicked the green button until I got root access. It's extremely easy.
4) With Root Access, now you can download and install Dual Recovery for the Xperia Z1 on your phone.
5) Download the latest iHackers 2.0 ROM from the Xperia Z1 Android Development thread and copy it to your phone. This is hands down, the best ROM for the Xperia Z1 right now in terms of battery life. With the latest 4.3 update, I'm able to get over 2 Days worth of battery life on one charge. Battery life is much better on the new iHackers 2.0 ROM running Android 4.3.
6) Download the flashable Locked Dual Recovery for the Xperia Z1 here. http://nut.xperia-files.com/
The file is called XZ-lockeddualrecovery2.7.63-BETA.flashable.zip (8.48MB), download it and copy it to your phone, preferably the same place you copied the iHackers 2.0 ROM. To make things easier for yourself, create a new folder on your phone or SD Card in your phone and name it iHackers. Copy both the iHackers 2.0 ROM and the flashable Locked Dual Recovery.zip file into this folder.
7) With both files now copied to a folder on your phone, you're now ready to go into recovery to flash the iHackers 2.0 ROM. Boot into recovery and once you're there, do a Wipe Data/Factory Reset before Installing the ROM.
The rest of these steps are now taken directly from the iHackers 2.0 download thread on the Xperia Z1 Android Development forum.
8) Install the ROM and THEN Dual Recovery. Don't make the same mistake I did, once the installer is finished, DON'T REBOOT THE DEVICE. Uncheck the "Reboot Device" box and go back to recovery to install the flashable Dual Recovery.zip file that's in the iHackers 2.0 folder.
9) Switch Off Your Phone (Do Not Reboot). Select No to Disable Flash Recovery Confirmation.
10) Install Kernel.ftf for C6903 (.290) or Kernel.ftf for C6902 (.290) with Flashtool to get compatible Kernel and Baseband. To download the kernel.ftf file, go to the original iHackers 2.0 thread to download and flash the kernel using Flashtool. You should be familiar with Flashtool at this point since if you make it to this step, you've already used Flashtool once to flash the .534 baseband version of Android.
11) Reboot and Enjoy. Now you're running the latest version of Android 4.3 on your Xperia Z1 on a Locked Bootloader WITH full Root Access. Sure, it's not the stock version but the iHackers 2.0 version of Android 4.3 is just as good, if not better. This will certainly do until there's a better way to simply root the newest Stock Version of Android 4.3.
Step by Step Guide made by @x016x so Thanks him, and Me, because I posted here.
You can flash the latest z1 dual recovery, not only 2.7.63.

[Q] [i9305] Complete Flashing process Help

I own an S3 LTE i9305 which is COMPLETELY STOCK with Android version 4.1.2 and I was planning on getting a Custom ROM on it
I have been doing a lot of reading on the different procedures and what all to Install and quite honestly I am getting a bit confused. So I am just gonna jot down the entire procedure of what I have understood. I would really like to have some help from experienced members to let me know if I am going wrong somewhere
1. Rooting: Flashing the CF-AutoRoot file using Odin while the phone is in Download mode<<>> There are 2 files on https://autoroot.chainfire.eu/ for my phone, one is for 4.1.1 and the other is for 4.4.4. Not sure which one to go for. Also I have downloaded Odin3_v3.09
2. Flashing CWM: after rooting I will want to flash CWM the file for which is http://download2.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-6.0.4.7-i9305.img using Odin while the phone is in Download mode
3. Flashing ROM: I am sort of interested in this ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/development-i9305/rom-miui-v6-smooth-faster-ota-t3097018 so I will downloaded the latest ROM file from the given download link and flash it using Odin while the phone is in Download mode
Before performing any of the above I will perform the procedure given here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...warning-guide-backup-restore-imei-nv-t1946915
Also I have checked under Settings>Security>Device admins> There is no KNOX thingy
Also I have question about this GApps, what package should I go for and is it flashed in the same way?
Also how shall I make a backup image of my phone so that I can restore it in its current state if something goes wrong?
Thank you!

Thank you!

Hi,
1. Use the 4.1.1 file. Your bootloader is the older one, the other file is for knox
2. Not sure about that cwm file. It is .img file; AFAIK you need a .tar file. Check this thread for more info and the .tar file HERE
3. When you download the rom file, it is a .zip. You will need to flash this once you reboot into the cwm recovery you installed in step 2, after doing the recommended wipes from the OP of the rom you want. (Recovery mode not download mode)
Gapps - choose a package from HERE You need a 4.4.x package(if you install the rom you mentioned). I like minimal gapps by @jajb, but up to you
You can make a nandroid backup from the cwm recovery, but I would recommend downloading the stock firmware from sammobile.com from your region as a backup
Good idea backing up efs folder btw. I would recommend that to everyone

Right so a couple of minutes ago I have successfully rooted the phone (verified via Root checker) and I have also successfully flashed CWM (verified by entering recovery mode)
So now before I flash my ROM the question I have is. Do I have to transfer the ROM to an SD card then install it Via SDCard? Also how do I flash the GApps? Via SDcard or ODin?
Also technical points aside which ROM do you suggest is lightweight and good for i9305? There really are a lot of ROMs I am having a hard time selecting one

You only need the recovery to flash from now unless you need to install the stock firmware. Just install the .zip files for the rom and gapps to the external sd card if you have one, or to the phone storage(just don't format internal sdcard when you do your wipes)
For the rom you could try Slimkat 4.4.4 It's nice and stable and lightweight(I haven't tried slimsaber in the same thread)
Generally if you want stability, then kitkat or earlier android versions would be what I would recommend. Lollipop builds at the moment still have a few bugs such as gps or mms etc not working properly for some users
And generally the non touchwiz roms are more "lightweight" but the TW roms have some of the features from the stock roms(samsung features).

Thanx for that. Before you made this reply I already flashed the Resurrection Remix ROM along with the Minimal GApp that you mentioned. SO far its running good. Theres slight lags that my eyes are picking up but since I am open to experimenting with my current S3 LTE before I get an Asus Zenfone 2, I dont mind the Beta builds.
After flashing the ROM and Gapps I also ran the Bloatware remover script which worked fine. Installed Google music and Cabinet beta along with Google chrome from Play store. However I miss the search bar that used to be on my homepage for quick googling, any idea how I can get that? I dont see it in the widgets or anywhere else in the phone
