Heating Up - Galaxy S III Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi, im having a problem, is it normal for a custom rom to heat up my phone after about 5 minutes of using it? i mean while texting?
when it's in sleepmode evything coolsdown, but then after waking it up for about 5-10minutes it heats up, im using the governor
abbysplug and i/o sio. im not connected to the wifi or mobile data(never used data though). i turn off sync for all my accounts and
location is turned off, im currently using Carbon 4.4.2(06022014). and my battery drain is like 3-5minutes for every 1% of its juice. is it
normal? because when im in stock rom my battery last a lot longer. im using set-cpu and greenify as for my battery saving. oh and here's one
more problem, everytime a set a setting for example changing dalvik to ART, after i set it, and rebooted, i check in the setting it's back to dalvik.
also the read-ahead option for extsd everytime i set it up for 4000KB and thick the start on boot, after reboot it goes back to the default, same for my prefered network 2g/3g i always use 2g only but then after several minutes back to 3g again. please if someone can help me.
i did a fullwipe (System, Data, Cache, Dalvik Cache)
im using Aroma GAPPS
and Recovery is TWRP by Android-Andi
and the Rom is by New-Maclaw

For the heating up & battery consumption : It's 1GHz bug. Hung the WiFi and reboot. :good:
For changing from dalvik to ART : update your recovery with NovaFusion's last update and try again. Btw ART is working. :good:
As for the other problems are bugs of the rom : Update the rom and wait for repairs.

Nova HD shutdown issue

Hello, im running on latest Nova HD.
My problem is that my phone shutdown by itself.
This is not SOD - i can turn it back on just by pressing the power button.
Any advices about this? Thank yoU!
Hello, just to add a question. At the moment I have Nova_HD 1.0.3 and the phone freezes and reboots when connected through USB. Anyone else has this problem? Usb-debug deactivated.
Thanks
EDIT: Just reinstalled with full wipe. working OK now..
Shutdown isssue too
Hello!
My biggest problem with O2x is signal loss when on GSM / WCDMA (auto mode) with official GB roms (v20l, v20q).
I routed my phone and installed Nova HD Rebuild 1.0.3. With Nova Kernel I had no wi-fi, with HP 2x and Harsh kernel, my phone is shutting down by itself, after a phone call, the screen remains off (black) and I have to remove the battery to use it again. With all the kernels I had huge battery drain (about 6-8 hours uptime with normal use). Always clean install, full wipe, dalvik cache, battery stats.
Now, I installed official, unrooted v20s Euro Open. I will test it and post my opinion about this rom.

You can try to put higher minimum frequency from 216 to 324 or flash latest Harsh kernel 3.0.34, but not before wiping cache and dalvik
I have noticed that the phone shuts down only when there's no radio signal for more than 5-10min. The phone keeps switching itself off unless I turn on air plane mode.

Battery drain on my Note after flashing XXLS7 rom

Hi,
I recently flashed my XXLS7 ROM and while doing so, I was asked to wipe battery stats too, after then I see that my battery % is getting reduced drastically and the worst is that whenever I am in normal mode it shows me 75% but after getting into recovery mode it shows 55% or so. Now I am completely confused whether 100% is actually 100% or not. Any ideas on how to get this problem rectified?
Thanks in advance.
may be you need to do a clean install of the rom again.
use format/system and format /data this time

Thanks, I have tried that option too, but still no help..........
Be patient
Mine was discharging like crazy when media scanner was doing its thing -- just keep a charger handy and stick it on when it gets low. Eventually it should sort itself out.
boot into recovery and wipe battery stats again.. then charge the phone to 100 % and test again.
I had this problem in almost every xxls7 ROM... I tried everything, literally EVERTHING.... i made 3 wipes, format preload format system etc etc... Result is DEVICE IDLE eats battery... I CAN NOT figured out which causes this... But finaly, SweetROM solve the problem... I do not know how but it solved... I tried RR3, Alliance and Stock xxls7... All of them causes battery drain for me but i do not know if it is a problem of all... Anyway, just in case you can try Sweet ROM... At least it does not cause drain when you do not use it...
I have this problem too..
Nokia 3210 with PA Utacka
after restarting the phone go to settings>application>all>media storage and stop it.
on every bootup, media storage process consumes %5-10 battery to scan media files.
you can disable it but the gallery wont work.
you can use Quickpic instead.

[Q] Rom Installation Issues

Hello all
basically i rooted my note GT N-7000, installed philZ cwm6, franco kernal r5, i also installed CM9.1.0 rom... all was fine, i installed gapps, all seemed fine, i dont have a stock 2500mah battery i got a extended 5200mah battery, it lasts all day not 7 hours with the usage i do of my android phone, my battery usually lasts with my extensive usage from est. 7:30am till 10pm with roughly 10-15% remaining but for some reason with these new mods/roms my battery was dead by 2:15pm with the littlest use ive done in a while... i think at max i used 30-45 mins of facebooking.... so i thought it was the ROM, ive downloaded Ultimate n-7000 LT4_JB_4.1.2_v6, but everytime i try to flash this rom it says (BAD) and refuses to let me, im following the same steps as i did with the CM9 i installed.... wipe data/factory reset, cache partition, dalvik, cache, system, data, preload and emmc..... but no prevail??? can somebody help me in some way with this issue please, sorry for the essay but any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
Thank you in advance
Try copying the .zip file of the ROM to your phone again or if you downloaded the file on the phone itself, then download the file again. The error BAD you get in the recovery is an indication that the .zip file is damaged. This should solve the problem. And yes some ROMs do give a pathetic battery life and it worsens many a time with custom kernels flashed on the ROM.
Multiple attempts of re downloading the file and still the same result (bad) even tried downloading from various different sources too its OK though in just going to have to learn to live with such a terrible battery life just glad I've got this battery that's twice the size, stock battery would last 6 hours tools this one lasts till I get home from work thankfully that way I can charge again when home

[Q] [XPERIA T] Incorrect % battery indicator [SOLVED]

Hi,
I have the Xperia T, my battery indicator % remain 100% after use, when i power off my device and turn on again the battery have a big fall (to 70-80% deppend of hours of use) and over time it turns to 100% without charge, its crazy. It happens in T_Hybrid_V17 but not happens from beggining of install the ROM... one day suddenly occurs...
My bootloader is locked, the phone is rooted and ROM is stock based with a CWM for locked bootloader.
Ok, I read about the problem, i have not the option of wipe battery stats in my CWM, i read about "battery calibration" and installed and followed instructions of apk "battery calibration", dont works for me... I manually do the same process... i deleted the batterystats.bin at 100% charge... let the device power off on discharge... charge again to 100% and let it discharge... it dont works for me...
Well... i think ok... there are a new ROM with another Kernel included... new CWM included in XDA I try to change from JB 4.1.2 to JB 4.3 Ultimate Pure XT 4.0... and later OTA 4.1 and 4.2 well, the problem changes... is similar but not same... I do it "the calibration" and try the same as past... the new problem is... battery 100% and after a lot of use maybe it drops in real time to... maybe 97% ok... power off and on... 76% I use the device the bateery lvl drops to 73% after time and still there, it dont go up to 100% this is the difference, but the battery dont drop in real time correctly I attach an image of battery graphic. What can i do? i read similar problems on other devices, like SGSII, that is solved with "wipe battery stats" in CWM but my new CWM included in Pure XT (touch Philz 6.X) still not having this option in advanced...
I have Xposed installed now, but not when problem begin, i dont know what more to do. The battery duration appears to be correct but the % is not real.
I search in XDA forums about it, i see "solutions" on other devices, I read and read, but dont work for me.
Sorry for my english, i hope that you can understand this.
EDIT: SOLVED
-------------------
The problem was a hardware issue. I leave it in a technichal assistance , and they repaired it in 2 weeks, a main board problem, new mainboard and new IMEI... solved.

[HELP] Xperia T slowed down, Getting random freezes.

Hello,
I'm using CM 13.0 (Android 6.0.1) on my lt30p & I have installed TWRP recovery.Few days ago i installed a battry saving app (meant for rooted phones) and I think I changed a wrong setting it my phone. After that my phone is slowed down too much and it freezes most of the time.
1) Yes, I checked the governers / CPU Freq they are normal (not power saving or anything.
2) I reinstalled CM(x2 times) again after doing a full factory reset and a data wipe, BUT THE ISSUE IS STILL THE SAME.
3)RAM is normally working as it should be(at least thats whats shown in the settings menu)
I think i need to WIPE everything from my phone and Re-install everything including recoveries and all.But IDK that will work too.So any expert on this please help me.THanks
I need a solution for this ASAP.Thanks in advance!
