Could work, depending on how backups are stored. I can just tell that tarp looks for backups in a folder with your device-id.

What you need is system and boot, and a flashable zip with original recovery.

No i dont. Not as cwm flashable zip.
Backup from another phone probably works as long as the backup folder is named right so that recovery finds it.
Make a backup and folders will be created, use external storage.
Whole restore process would be:
Make sure binary count is zero with triangle away.
Boot download mode to make sure as well.
Copy backups of system and boot to backup folder.
Boot to recovery, factory reset, restore backups from other phone, factory reset again.
Boot system to see that all is OK.
Unroot from SuperSU settings if needed.
Back to recovery to flash flashable zip of stock recovery.
I guess you'll have to make one more factory reset from stock recovery to get everything official status.
I hope I didn't miss anything
(I can make that zip for you if you'll need it. Downloading firmware right now, just in case)

So if you're already on MDL modem, have stock rooted ROM, stock kernel, triangle away back to zero and official, using Mobile Odin with this "should" put everything back to factory including putting stock recovery back on? I haven't had the need or time to pull the trigger to test it yet. I'm glad there's finally a stock tar of this. I guess it's just a matter of time before one clicks are made with this and rooted tars. I know this phone is slightly different with flashing than the e4gt. My mind is still stuck on the way things were done with that phone.

I would say that it will. I think even if you have the MDC modem it should upgrade to the MDL version. I'm going to try in a few minutes...almost downloaded. I am wondering if triangle away is even necessary. I'm showing "custom" on my phone so we'll see what happens.
I've already posted on sxtp about getting a one-click. They make things so easy. But at least with this file I can skip the (1) one-click MDC..... (2) wait for OTA upgrade to MDL.
This definitely is different from my E4GT.
BTW , what is that SS_DL.dll file in the zip?
Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk 2

Edit: OK, I just ODIN'd the file. Custom binary now shows Samsung Official and system status is Official. I forgot to check the kernel, but I'm pretty sure it's stock. Also it did flash modem.bin. ODINing this file left all my apps intact. I was expecting it to wipe my internalSD, but apparently it didn't.
Since I wanted to start from a clean slate, I'm now flashing the one-click MDC stock restore and I'll take the OTA and go from there. I'll just have to wait for a one-click rooted restore.
I wonder if the root option in mobile Odin works with stock MDL.
Help me correct this --

I attempted to root my s4 via motochopper (before finding out that this method does not work) - then I Odin'd the CF-Auto-Root-jfltespr-jfltespr-sphl720.zip and rebooted. (per qbking77 instructions which were ALSO out of date) It installed the SU apk (red pirate android) and once rebooted, SU did not work and root checker told me I was not rooted. At this point I am wanting to remove SU (since it's not working, binaries will not update) and return to "normal". I should Odin the file in this thread for the VPUAMDL, correct?
I follow instructions well, have read a thousand threads about this today (before diving in) and have rooted a dozen phones before this (never an s4) - I have never had a problem, until this happened today. I'm a little irritated because I was relying on the information as CURRENT (because info on rooting and installing custom recovery for the s4 seems to be SPARSE) -
Any help is appreciated,
Thx, Chictek

You cannot flash FTF files in recovery. They are for use with Flashtool only.

I don't think it should matter when returning the device for a hardware defect though. The rom you're running didn't break your USB port.

You can get close enough
Install NUT's pre-rooted (odex version) rom through recovery.
While in recovery do a wipe. /data/factory reset.
Then flash my XZDR removal tool http://d-h.st/wOc
Reboot and you will be back on pure stock with root.
Then just do a full unroot from within SuperSU app.
Done
Edit: Hopefully your bootloader is locked But as @kingvortex said - its got nothing to do with a broken port
Sent from my C6603 using xda app-developers app
Hmm, good thinking, but does [NUT]'s flashable zip include the kernel? I was under the (perhaps mistaken) impression that the stripped FTF had to be flashed with Flashtool for the kernel and baseband. If I'm correct, then the rom will not boot with the CM kernel (correct me if I'm wrong). In that case, DooMLoRD's advanced stock kernel is a possibility, but that is still not fully stock and would require that the bootloader remain unlocked.
There's also the fact that the OP is on a CM rom, so therefore fastboot is needed to relock the bootloader even if a fully stock system is achieved.
It all depends on how closely the service centre looks at the software on the phone, I suppose.
Oh OK. So he is on CM11? - missed that. I was hoping he was on stock based.
Yeah your probably right about the stock kernel being in the stripped FTF. (Never tried it), however there is still a way. A little convoluted though, and I don't have time for a new tutorial.
Easiest way is, as you said, just take the damn thing to the repair centre and argue that customizing the phone has nothing to do with a faulty USB port
Sent from my Full Android on C6603 using xda app-developers app
Yeah, he didn't say he was on CM until post #5. I'm used to people not being forthcoming with all pertinent information here, so read through his other posts before replying.
I think it's possible to package a stock kernel up in a flashable zip. If it is, it may be possible to get back to stock. I'll look for the post where I saw it.
Edit - Found it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2470280
So, maybe -
1. Flash [NUT]'s rom.
2. Flash stock kernel packaged by the method above.
3. Wipe /data.
4. Flash your XZDR removal tool.
5. Reboot.
That may work. Trouble is, performing steps like this without the safety net of Flashtool or even fastboot in the event of something going wrong is quite risky, so nobody blame me if a brick happens!
Even if all is successful, the bootloader will still be unlocked, so hopefully the service centre will not check.

Hi guys.
I've been having issues with my Atrix lately.
My phone ramdomly looses signal for like 10 seconds and it generates a folder named "bd-dumps" with 3 archives on it: ramdump_modem_fw.bin, ramdump_modem_sw.bin and ramdump_smem.bin.
I didn't changed anything on the phone when the problem started. I was running LiquidSmooth ROM (Very nice, BTW), and started noticing this issue. In fact, I noticed because my phone was lacking memory.
Now, I've been searching about this issue, but none of the solutions have worked for me. Some say is a bad SIM Card, others a bad network, but I am pretty sure that the issue is not about that.
Everytime that I turn on Data services, it happens. When data services are off, it doesn't. I can be using Wi-Fi just fine.
I have tried:
Flashing Stock with RSD Lite
Flashing Stock AT&T and Mexican ROMS
Flashing Stock manually
Flashing modem manually
Flashing several ROMS (CM and AOSP based)
Formatting partitions
Deleting the bd-dumps folder everytime it shows up
Formatting and fixing the modem partition
So far, nothing has worked. I'm attaching a log that I got exactly when this happens and when it gets signal again. Hope anybody can give me a hand.
Thanks, everybody.

Yes, there is a modem update included. What it does, I'm not sure. Before taking the update, my wi-fi would drop randomly. I've had solid wi-fi connections since the update. Reception also seems to have improved.

Fortunately, yes. Check this post:

And just flash the modem partition. Then I recommend to go back to Stock and then, if you want, custom ROM. Before I went to stock I had signal issues, but the bd-dumps issue was gone. After flashing Stock, everything worked fine.
Try it, it should work. Don't forget to thank Erick! If you have any issues, let me know.
I didn't understand from erick post may be too complicated for me
Can you please make a guide in the general section for flashing a modem and to do all this . when you have time . it will be helpful for many people.

Of course, just don't forget to thank him because he gave the original solution.
Download this (Original link by ErickST18): https://www.dropbox.com/s/a5v8yakw5eshrmc/AHD_Blocks.rar
Use WinRAR to extract the files.
There are 1.img, 2.img, 3.img, etc etc archives. Focus on the 1.img.
Now, like when you flash the recovery on the command line (fastboot flash recovery recovery.img), you will flash this one this way:
fastboot flash modem 1.img
Remember to put the 1.img archive on the same folder that you have the fastboot archive.
And that's it. Reboot, and then flash RSD with Stock. Then with you favorite custom ROM.
Hope it works for you. Please let me know if you need further assistance.

I just answered in the other thread, but I want to clarify that I used Mexican Stock because my phone is mexican (and I'm too ). If your phone is from AT&T, then I would recommend you to flash that one.
Already thanked him .
And thanks for your help too
Just one thing i need to know that is it neccessary to use rsd or i can use myth tools instead?

I guess you can use it, I honestly have never tried it, but if you can flash back to Stock with that, go ahead. There shouldn't be any problem.

Alright, people. I'm a noob here and I tried to do this to fix my Atrix HD modem using this. I hooked my cel in Fastboot mode, checked if it was recognized and all cool. I attempted to flash modem and I got a big fat failure.

Now I'm sutck in a bootloop. I'm not sure what is wrong (I'll say it again, I'm a NOOB)... Maybe I just need to flash something dumb, but I don't know what.
It won't let me flash cdrom from fastboot and I'm running out of battery. It also failed when trying to flash a STOCK ROM (4.1.1) with RSD lite (it got stuck in cdrom as well).

Well, first of all, if you are running out of battery, first flash the custom recovery.
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
I would recommend Philz touch. After this, reboot your phone and enter in recovery presing power + up. Here your phone will charge.
If it doesn't work, try with another fastboot. That could be the issue, too. After you have enough battery, try again to flash RSD Lite to Stock. If it works, then try to flash the partitions. If nothing works, please let me know, let's find a solution
Phone info:
SM-N920V
Android 6.0.1
Kernel 3.10.61

I continue to have shut down issues, app has stopped working, reboots. I factory reset last night and after that I have an !...and the android guy is laying in his side under it. This happened on my last phone so I was given a replacement. I obviously have a corrupt file that is causing it. Any idea how to truly get back to factory wiped and fresh start with a happy android guy?

Here is a pick.
I just got this phone last week, it was fine and operating perfectly. After getting apps downloaded and set up like my last phone, S6, I noticed it started to reboot itself and that apps would shut down. That's when I did a factory reset and saw the droid guy sideways. So some app, document or software download caused it to my knowledge.
where did you buy that from?

Alright let's try this.. Download the firmware from here or wherever you want and then extract them so you'll be able to see each of the files modem, bootloader, recovery etc etc and then use Odin to put each file in the respective slots individually so they flash that way.. You may even need to use a PIT too so it reflashes the partitions..

Earlier I downloaded the first "full firmware" at the page that you link. Are you saying I should download each individual file from the second or third down from the top of the page and follow the same instructions that I used this morning that are listed on your instructions to Downgrade back to Lollipop 5.1.1 on Verizon?
Sorry, this is all new to me.

No those files are already in the firmware that you downloaded all you need to do is extract them now so it's not a zip file or md5 type so you may have to extract it twice.

Even after extracting the firmware remains a MD5 file?? What type of file should it be?
And again, thank you for walking me through this. Trying to save this phone so I don't have to send it back and wait 10 days to get a replacement.

What type of extractor did you use? I have 7zip and when you extract the firmware the first time it should go from an md5 to a .zip and then you extract it again and then you should be able to see each of the files..
If I were you I'd immediately take that phone back to the store and get a replacement because there is no firmware number listed like N920VVRS2BPF2 anywhere on the Internet so there's something not right with that.

I'll try it with 7zip.
so with 7zip this is what I'm left with:
Where do they go into the lines of Odin - BL, AP, CP, CSC and do they look like the correct files to upload to phone?

That does look right. Just flash them 1 by 1 in the pda/AP section but go over to options and uncheck reboot so it doesn't reboot on you.. Flash them all system, cache, sboot, recovery, modem, cm.bin and the boot. But not the md5 ones.

I found out where the firmware came from N920VVRS2BPF2... That's Verizons newest OTA... Did you accept that today? But the one they have listed still doesn't match yours fully look here..
http://www.verizonwireless.com/support/samsung-galaxy-note5-update/
I think it's to late because that update was a security patch and I think it is the update that finally stops us from being able to downgrad like I posted in my guide.. Even factory reset breaks the phone.. The only way to fix that now is to wait until the firmware is made available to download or send it in for another one.
So I'm SOL?

If the firmware you flashed didn't work the last thing you can try is the PIT to repartition the phones partitions and if that doesn't work then yes SOL but you can just take the phone to Verizon and say the update that was just sent screwed up your phone and you'll get another one. You might have to wait a few days but it's better than nothing!

I am currently running this rom and am planning on leaving metropcs since it seemed someone may have ruined their network. I paid for the 60 dollar a month plan and I cant even get close to a single megabit download speed. Is there any way someone could post or attatch a twrp backup of the modem? I tried to flash the stock modem from the stock firmware but I dont have a computer right now and accidentally erased my modem.

I tried that but it failed miserably. I also tried to dd if=modem.bin of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p14 (modem.bin from the csc file) in android and the twrp terminal. No luck! I remember a twrp backup of a working modem took care of the problem but I accidentally deleted it and dont have the proper technology to run testdisk or foremost on the internal memory to try and restore the radio.emmc.win.

I was finally able to resolve my situation. Thinking back.. I thought maybe I just accidentally turned my radio off but I actually hard bricked my phone because I had to format the modem partition for the phone to even function properly over WiFi. Perhaps if anyone else has that problem the new firmware posted on mega.nz will have the proper modem driver for hw rev 05. If not then this phone could have a factory limitation to stop people from developing their own open source Android Rom for the device. A defect I would call it in this case. Although I haven't been able to verify it because I have no reason to corrupt my modem and then try flashing the new firmware.

Fantastic bro. Such a rewarding feeling when you figure stuff out. So my firmware helped, or was it another package you found?
I have a J700T1 MetroPCS device. I have been pulling my hair out and studying day and night to run XModGames on my phone. (XMG "XModGames is a modding app for rooted phones to alter games) I have done this before on other phones. I have tried flashing a permissive kernel, and once it was permissive XMG would still give an error. I have installed BusyBox, deleted app data, changed XMG to system app through LuckyPatcher... Restarted and flash my phone several times! Just trying to figure this out... Can anyone give some ideas? I'm testing this ROM Deodex & Deknox but it stayed in T-Mobile boot screen for 30 minutes. I'm about to flash stock again.
