I need a kernel that has BLN and usb OTG support. i am on rooted stock rom, I8190l. can some developer please make one, or at least show me where to find one?
i only need those features, i dont want over/under clock or undervolt.

Sorry if this is posted in the wrong thread, but i figured since this was related to android development someone would know over here.
Is there a boot.img i can flash to remove this hack from the eclair roms since it usually comes compiled with the rom? I've looked all over and i can't find it. I don't want the hack, is this possible?
Simple rule:
If it's a question, it belongs in the Questions and Answers section.
Thread moved.
I think, not 100% sure, that you can just re-flash the ROM you are using.
I remember doing something along that lines a few weeks ago, but I also did a plethora of other things, so I can't say for sure what removed it.
Best guess would be to reflash whatever ROM you are running.

well i play a few games here and there to let the time pass by in class, it's not imperative for me to have a blazing fast phone. I understand it helps with performance right, but is it really necessary for eclair roms?
and in your opinion, what's the best one out right now?
At the moment Eclair roms are using are using the 10MB RAM hack because we dont have the drivers for the GPU.
There is no point in giving back the 10MB as we cant use the GPU which is why u are getting average performing games.
ohhhhh, ok i get it sorry, thanks guys.
dang, well, does anyone have any idea when the video drivers might be released? I've been on cyanogen since i got my mytouch last year and i just wanna try something new, but i dont know what
something new thats fully functional*
I have a few questions...
If i root using this method
forum . xda-developers . com / showthread.php?t=694572 (i had the regular link, but it told me since im new i cant post it)
is there a way that i can install a kernal to get it to 710 mhz? Kinda like the one in Buufed 2.1.2. I had it before and my battery life was great and the phone was really fast and responsive, but i wanted my visual voicemail.
Also, if im able to do that, would i be able to put Apps2SD on my phone even if i wont have a custom rom? Do i even need a custom rom?
Also, ive searched for relevant things, and all that came up was threads where people would reply "DO A SEARCH BEFORE POSTING! RARARA!" and not answer the question in any way shape or form, so please, skip that and help me.
I'm noobie enough as it is.
and also forced roaming...i tried out Cyanogens 2.2 ROM and it had forced roaming on it and that helped a LOT because my phone constantly switches between sprint and verizon in my house which would make it lag and drain battery faster, so my other question is is there some way to get forced roaming on my phone without a custom rom too?
sp basically im looking for if its possible to have Apps2SD, an OC 710 mhz kernal and forced roaming without puting any custom roms on?
Actually, all your questions are answered elsewhere if you would have just done a little bit of reading through the threads, or even just read the titles of some of the threads. Good job on trying the Search feature, just work a little harder at reading through the results next time. Also read the titles of threads. Being a newbie isn't an excuse to be lazy.
Here are your answers that I will kindly link for you below:
No, you can't have A2SD on regular 2.1 stock. The A2SD support code is something that has to be built into the boot image of a ROM. So yes, you will need to use a custom ROM that has A2SD support. That answer is in post #3 of the A2SD thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=715116
You can't overclock the stock 2.1 because the OC kernels are packaged with specific ramdisks for each custom ROM. So in order to overclock, you will have to use both a custom ROM and the one of specific OC kernels for that particular ROM. That answer was found in post #1 of the OC kernel thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=705074
There is a method for Force Roam, but I don't think anyone has got it working on the Sprint CDMA Hero yet. Cyanogenmod does have a patch for it. Here are just a couple short threads detailing this, both of which I was easily able to find by searching "force roam":
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=739208
http://forum.xda-developers.com//showpost.php?p=5405666&postcount=18

In short -- no, you can't do anything you're asking about without a custom ROM.
Also, in addition to reading more before posting next time, please also note where the appropriate place to post is. Since this was a question, it should have gone in the "Q&A" forum. Thanks, welcome, and good luck.
Also, please considering reading the rules and posting in the correct sub-forum.

Dang TTG, you are seriously a beast at moving threads quickly! Nice to see!
but it asked me if it was a question and i checked that box and posted my question about rooting in all things root..but thanks for the answer TTG's rom is basically what i wanted once i got it to work. thanks for the help with that
I am frustrated trying to find a working cifs.ko for my current kind of old ROM, want to upgrade, but if anyone can tell me which one surely has CIFS built-in, that'd save me a lot time!
Thanks in advance!
I think CIFS really should be compiled into the kernel by default, without it, accessing network share is a PITA.
This is a development thread, please don't post Questions in here..!

Hey.
I was going through the xda-university site, and i think its pretty amazing. However, one question lurks in my mind and its regarding kernel development, as the title states. Is there any universal method to develop a kernel for any phone? to be honest it seems like a dumb question, but how would it be possible for me to learn how to develop a kernel for xperia u as i don't have a htc desire and the guide for kernels on the site deals with basically htc desire.
Also, if this isn't the appropriate place to ask this question, where could i as when i tick "yes, this thread is a question!" it says it isn't.
Thank you.
[Q] would work.
developing from scratch will take you a while, since you dont know how anyway. start by getting kernel source for your device and learn that way.

There are 'usually' two places you can start building your kernel from:
1) OEM (your phone's manufacturer's website), It already has board support and all 'necessary' stuff in it. All you need to do is change what you want and do a simple make build after choosing the config file for your board.
2) Vanilla/Stock linux (kernel.org or android.com), This will be extremely hard and is only for boards that don't have support in linux kernel already. This is what engineers at manufacturers do.
If you don't understand the meaning of any word/term in this post, feel free to google them (helps really) or to reply here.
Is there any place that have patches so we can use to kernel if we can't make our own???like governers I/O etc??

You cant. U just look for a kernel that has the governor added. You will understand that its very easy. Its just a few codes of addition.

Hi sirs, im glad of this concept "XDA University". I have a question, lets say I have SGS2, with modified kernel and I would like to extract modules kernel from it (/lib/modules/usbserial.ko) and apply to stock kernel. Would this be possible? Can somebody point me to a link on how should I start?
Thanks in advance and Happy Holidays!

Try pulling the kernel off of your device first.
Hello all,
first I have to say I really tried to search post and I didn't understand or couldn't find what I was looking for. So I want to flash some custom kernel which will hopefully allow me to use some better CPU governors and make some CPU and GPU overclocking, also better RAM managment. So I know I ask a lot here but can someone point me to a link or tell me where I can find info about what I ask.
Also I'm on Stock 5.1.1 so Sony Lollipop 5.1.1. and rooted with dualbootrecovery and LB
PS. please help
PSS sorry for my english and also sorry if I asked noob question
Sorry mate, there isn't many Custom Kernels for ZR.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-zr/orig-development#kernels Go through here to find the kernels.
Thank you for help
PS I want to cry
