[Q] Xposed installer does not install - Xposed General

Hi, i have a Moto G and I did the OS upgrade ... now it has kitkat 4.4.2
After the upgrade, the Xposed Installer did not work anymore ... it was uninstalled apparently. I said "apparently" because some modules work.
So, I tried to download and install the last version of Exposed Installer ... but without success. The installer starts and run ... after some moments it says "App not installed".
I uninstalled all modules and tried again, but the Exposed Installer always shows "App not installed".
Can anyone help me ?

i had this problem before, you need any file manager and navigate to Android/data/ then you have to find the xposed installer folder and delete it then reinstall the apk

thank you so much for this !!

After upgrading to Marshmallow (Resurrection Remix) on S4 GT-I9500, the xposed apk file was not installing.
I had followed all instructions, proper .zip and .apk files, even clearing cache, etc. but nothing was working.
However, I found this solution on the net and it works!
xposed is active now.

After trying to post the message, I realised that since I am new to the forum I am not allowed to post external links.
But google "xposed app not installed" without the quotes and you will see the solution on a website (may be 4th or 5th from top) called mrad4tech.blogspot
This is what it says (credit to original author):
(1) Root enabled ES file explorer required
(2) Copy the not working .apk to system/app (retain the .apk file in original location for step 6, if required)
(3) Reboot phone
(4) You will see the application in the app drawer
(5) Try opening the app (this worked for me so I did not have to go to next step)
(6) If it force closes then install the .apk (in original location) now normally and it will work

Google Maps 3.3.1 update.zip (use this if you are getting signing errors)

Here's an update.zip for those having difficulty installing Maps from the Android Market. Details about the update are in the other thread. This updater should install cleanly over the old version (it did for me). If you have issues with FC, try uninstalling the previous version and possibly clearing out the dalvik cache.
Note: Those who are more comfortable with adb can simply extract the apk from the zip file and manually push it into the /system/app folder.

Was getting the signing errors. This worked great, thanks!

I uploaded the APK to my site if anyone needs it...

login failure on latitude
If you have AOSP_ADP_1.6 here is what I had to do:
I had to go to the /expstick/vsapps folder on the ext partition and delete the (mine was called) GoogleMaps.apk there then goto recovery and update the Maps_3.3.0_update.zip file I downloaded from the apps forum to get Maps 3.3.0 to work...

Yes, works! Including Latitude. Regretted removing the previous Maps but now that it all works again I'm happy
Many thanks.
I just did it as the update.zip and it worked like a charm.
I did delete all associated data and remove the previous version of maps before hand though.
I then went into the market and installed over it in there which it did straight away so that I will be notified of any future updates and hopefully be able to install them.

No. This copy is not hacked, it is the original file (you can check the posted md5 against other sources if you like).
How do i apply the update.zip?
I also tried the .apk
didnt work...
/expstick/vsapps folder on the ext partition
how did you get to these files, i cant seem to find them,

Same way you would use any other update.zip: put it at the root directory of your sdcard and reboot into recovery. The apk file has to be pushed into the system app folder to work.
Decided not to say what I had to say - edited to remove it.
Unable to update using any of methotd mentioned here...
I have ADP1 with 1.6 ROM and I am still unable to update Maps. I have removed the previous Maps (3.2. "hacked" to allow European navigation), now I have Maps 3.1.2 installed (I don't know how to uninstall these, there is no option to do so in Application manager).
1) Using the Market results in "INstallation error: Package file was not signed correctly."
2) Using the update.zip provided here results in "Aborting Install" when the yellow bar reaches the middle.
3) Trying to install Maps.apk provided in this thread results in "Application not installed: Maps could not be installed on this phone"

Sounds like your 1.6 is not based on ADP (not using the test keys). This updater is for folks with "rooted" phones only (test keys as opposed to release keys).
BTW in order to uninstall an application contained within the /system/app folder, you have to remount and remove it manually. Application manager cannot do that for you.

My Build number is "dream_devphone-userdebug 1.6 DRC83 14721 test-keys". AFAIK, I downloaded this from the official ADP1 firmware page.
I removed Maps.apk file from /system/app/ folder but still the same problem persists, as described above.
Success!
Update: After I did "pm uninstall com.google.android.apps.maps", I was able to install latest maps from the Market.
Edit: ahh glad it got sorted out.
Was using stock CM 4.2.7.1 on mytouch3g and had nothing but issues trying to upgrade but thanks to this it did the trick, thank you for posting it.
Just realized 3.3.1 just got released, the 3.3.0 file allowed me to upgrade without getting any errors.
cant you just delete is using adb then reinstall it from the market?

[Q] Can't install secure settings helper

I'm trying to install helper (busy box already installed) however, every time I try to install it, it reboots my phone. Pushing the apk into system\app also reboots the phone. I can push other apk's and remove apk's from system\app just not the helper apk. When I try to flash the securesettingshelper.zip in CWM it says "installation aborted"
I've tried a number of things to get this working including flashing the bulletproof-1.8 kernel. I've also tried doing the fix here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2230341
Does anyone have the helper installed on their device? If so, could you link or guide me through the process?
Thanks
EDIT: solved! not sure what the issue was still, but I just did a full wipe and reinstalled Android Revolution HD 8.0. Perhaps it's because I tried using Rom Cleaner 3.5 for the HTC One X

I got it to work. I just used the normal install from the app itself. nothing special, no apk or cwm zip file. Make sure your root is ok?

yea installing from the app is the first thing I tried. I know my root is good since su is installed and all other apps work fine.
i got the same "installation aborted" when flashing via cmw, but did manual copy paste and change name
(Manually copy to /system/app/SecureSettingsHelper.apk ) and then restart my n7105. now helper is working. will try if pattern unlock is working.
what other people do after installing helper?

[Root] How to enable Google Now in Android 5.0 Lollipop in every country

How to enable Google Now in Android 5.0 Lollipop in every country (where it says "Google Now in not available in your country) or (Google location reporting is not available in your country ) Root Required
You can skip this (there are thousands of changes in Android Lollipop, first thing you notice when you take a look at /system/app or /system/priv-app you can see the applications are not scattered apk's and odex files, now they are arranged in folders containing the corresponding odex and lib files).
I take no responsibility if you did something wrong
Let's start:
1- Install any third party launcher like Nova launcher and open it. Also you need any file manager with root capability ( I use X-plore file manager and in its configuration just enable root with read/write )
2- Download Google search 2.6.xxxx and rename it to Velvet.apk link: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23017610006233988
3- Now go to settings/apps/all and clear data for Google Search (this also will erase your setup for Google now launcher)
4- Open the file manager, navigate to /system/priv-app and backup (copy) Velvet folder with all its contents to a safe place in your SD card.
5- delete all contents inside velvet folder then copy Google search 2.6.xxxx (renamed as Velvet.apk) to velvet folder and check the permission is chmod 644, like the screenshot below
6- Restart you phone, and open Google search and tap Yes, I am in
7- After completing the Google Now setup, open the file manager and restore velvet folder (you backed it up) to it's original place in /system/priv-app (over write velvet.apk) and make sure that the 3 files in /velvet/lib/arm and velvet.apk permission is chmod 644, while the folders (velvet, lib, arm) permissions is chmod 755, like screenshot below.
8- Restart your phone and enjoy Google Now launcher with Google Now page

It doesn't work on Android 5.0.1
Many thanks
I can confirm it works flawlessly!
I tried it on GPE HTC One M8 running 5.0.1 and I can confirm it works. It was a little tricky though because there was almost no space available on the system partition, so I had to delete some system apps to free up some space for the mentioned operations. But thanks to this thread, I got my Google now up and running! Thanks guys!

[SOLVED]White Neo's CM12.1 - Cannot update Facebook (error 504)

Hello,
My Xperia T has the latest WhiteNeos CM12.1 Homebuild. I have a problem with the Facebook app. Whenever there is an update, it downloads normally , but during installation, a message pop ups "cannot install facebook app uknown error -504". I have searched for solutions and the only one that works for me is to uninstall facebook and messenger, delete the appropriate folders from /data, clear Google play cache, reboot and I can reinstall facebook app (on 2nd try).
As you can imagine it is very annoying to do this on every update. Is there a more permanent solution maybe? - by permanent I don't mean to download facebook app from amazon store
Thank you
I have the same issue, and my bet is that it's related to the massive amount of code that is included in the Facebook app..
You can also grab the latest apk from apkmirror.com and install normally. This will work just fine, even if it takes up to 10 minutes.
Unfortunately your suggestion did not work for me. I rebooted the phone and everything without result. Maybe RAM usage has somehting to do with this? How can I deactivate enough safe-to-close apps and services to free RAM to try reinstallation?

I have to agree. However got it working with another method:
Download the latest apk from apkmirror, then rename the file to base.apk and boot into recovery. Then use the integrated file explorer to move the base.apk file to /data/app/com.facebook.katana and set 644 permissions. Then reboot and after around 2min on the "Optimizing apps" screen you'll have the latest facebook app.

It worked just fine. What I did more (just to be sure) was to chown the folder and base.apk to system:system. So now everytime I want to update facebook, I will just update base.apk in /data/app/com.facebook.katana and then reboot??

Yeah, exactly!
It's still quite time-consuming to update that way, but it's the best method we have.

I know this thread is bit old, but thank you, WhiteNeo!!! Your solution saved me a bunch of grief.
Just a tip, I have auto-updates for Facebook set to off. I do try to install via PlayStore and occasionally succeed. However, it also lets me "capture" the base.apk file, so I know it's the right one for my phone and don't have to sort through the files on apkmirror.com, which aren't always updated as fast as Facebook releases, though it's a phenomenal source.
Follow these steps to "capture" the base.apk, which requires root access and a good file manager (I use the CM13 file manager)
1. Kick off the update in Play Store
2. After the download is complete and its says "Installing", navigate to \data\app\
- You'll see both a com.facebook.katana-1 folder for your existing install, and a com.facebook.katana-2 for your updated install
- Note: It may take a few seconds or minute after installing starts for this folder to show up, and once it does you'll only have a few minutes to capture the base.apk because when the -504 error shows, it wipes out the com.facebook.katana-2 folder and contents leaving you with the old install
3. Navigate to \data\app\com.facebook.katana-2 and copy base.apk to somewhere you'll find it later
4. Wait for the infamous -504 error, then follow WhiteNeo's solution by overwriting the base.apk in \data\app\com.facebook.katana-1 with the one you just saved and reboot

Cant run Xposed installer app

After I flashed the xposed framework .zip file onto my phone (marshmallow 6.0.1, nexus 6p) and wiping cache I try to go back into my downloads folder and run the installer .apk but it wont open, giving me the error "can't open file" I have googled the issue but never found anything that seemed to match my scenario. Any help with this?
