When I connect my tablet to my tv via HDMI any audio played over the device has this horrible background hum which ends up sounding like a terrrible background reverb. Is there a fix for this?? Maybe a third party app to control this or is there a way to send video over hdmi and sound over the 3.5MM jack??

That's handy to know.
I have 2 TVs at home with HDMI. The sound works with one but the other I just get Video for some reason
Is it possible to do something like this;
HDMI Video only to my TV
Bluetooth Audio to my Music System / Headphones / Computer speakers
Has any one tried this ?
Can try when I get home from work if nobody has tried it before then.
EDIT: That worked just fine on stock. Should a video on youtube on the TV via HDMI and the sound to my music system via Bluetooth and the Belkin Bluetooth Music Receiver
When using the hdmi output, does the phone still send audio through its speakers or the miniplug jack? Or it only sends audio through hdmi and cancels all other audio outputs?
Regularly it's sending both audio and video over the cable. Maybe someone knows how to improve overall performance while hdmi is on? ^^
But can it send video through hdmi plus audio through the 3.5 mm jack? I'm thinking in getting a d3, however the monitor I would be using doesn't have audio

I'm interested in using my phone as a camcorder to record my video blogs. I haven't been able to find any information on
A. Changing the microphone settings for video recording
B. Wireless microphones that work with our phone's
Thanks in advance for any info you may have.

I'm guessing that there's no solution for this.
I've considered using my blue tooth headset as the microphone receiver because this feature is available in Easy VoiceRecorder Pro but I don't see any setting adjustments in the video recording setup.

Απ: Suggestions for a wireless microphone for video recording
I have built this adapter http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=36038426 for using an external mic. Can't use it yet cause I lack the mic
Also you can look for fm wireless transmitters in evilBay. They sell really cheap and can record from very far.
Answered my own question
I was able to record sound from my Plantronics blue tooth headset. I'm not happy with the sound quality but I am happy that it works. Now I need look into purchasing a bluetooth microphone. Any suggestions??
Terribly sorry for wasting a thread. Hopefully this will answer someone else's questions about this feature.

Trying to record from my bt hands free with easy voice recorder the app informs me that the max audio quality that a bt device can record is limited to 8khz which explains your disappointment. So the bt solution is not an option.
My first question is whether the built in camera can use a bt external mic?
or is there an app that would?
also, Im using the samsung hs3000 for my external headset and the device has a built in mic which i thought would make it a great bt lapel mic...
i'll have to break it out and see if it works (or look for a camera app that enables the use of an external mic)
I was able to use my bluetooth headset with the camera app but not with my voice recorder app. The voice recorder app gives very poor sound quality when using the Bluetooth headset.

How were you able to use BT headset with Camera App? I have Galaxy Camera and am trying to use BT headset as external mic (jut like you) ... any success so far?

Im also looking for a solution to record videos on my SM-G900F (Samsung Galaxy S5) using the mic on bluetooth from Bose A20 headset. Hopefully some apps will make it possible for me.
I unfortunately use a HDMI to DVI cable for my video as i play on a monitor in my room. Sadly i have to use a bluetooth earpiece just for sound and it is annoying. Internalizing a speaker would NOT be ideal for game play but better than having to pair every time just for sound... My idea was get a regular speaker solder it to the audio pinouts from HDMI. is this possible? i have google for so long and could not find the pinouts for the pic i posted. I dont want to mess up considering how small they contacts are.... and my soldering skills not so great... I wanna get it done on my first go thanks for any input!

Those aren't analog audio outputs. You'll need a DVI audio breakout box if you want normal audio out. But honestly $120ish will get you a nice 24" with hdmi in nowadays.
Perhaps a cheap Bluetooth speaker? Mine pairs automatically and doesn't require pins or anything... Even the first time.
Same situation but probably a little more comfortable.
On my android stick MK808 I've seen people use a USB sound card with audio out. May work the same.

Get a bluetooth adapter, it'll allow you to hook up any speakers to it via AUX cable. I do this with my laptop to my stereo. The only problem is I got bad lag on sound via bluetooth with the OUYA, not sure why.
USB Audio devices are just $9, but you'll need a ROM that supports the drivers. I couldn't get them to work on the stock OUYA ROM, I could get it to work with the CM10 ROM experimental using a patcher.
Otherwise, a HDMI/DVI breakout would work. Or a bluetooth to aux.
They really should have included a headphone jack. Guess they wanted to cut the cost of an amp/jack.
USB audio is definitely the cheapest way to go, but it may be a while before the ouya officially supports it.

bluetooth to AUX works but there's a bad delay, so it really doesn't work with gaming. If it's for movies, programs like XBMC has a syncing feature and for music it wouldn't matter.

Well, I'd hope Ouya includes the drivers in an official update for USB Audio devices. It is kinda a needed thing for a lot of people who want to game with headphones, not all TV's (especially low-end ones) have headphone/LR out.
My TV *does* have it, so I can break out the signal that way. But for when I don't want to use a screen (ie: listening to music, etc.), I have the USB Audio to allow that without leaving the screen on.
Anyone tried Bluetooth audio?

Used with a denon 2112cl .... Works perfectly fine for me.

Works great with my Denon 1613, switches input as soon as casting begins.
I use it with my Onkyo receiver. It has an HDMI input in the front of the receiver. It also happens to have a USB port that I use to power the Chromecast. I didn't have to go to the back of the unit at all.
Good news is that I get Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound with both Netflix and YouTube. When I do Chrome browser in my laptop the sound switches to "all channel stereo".

Same here, front HDMI & USB FTW! Gotta take advantage of the 5.1 surround... when do you get 5.1 from Youtube!?
It took some settings tweaking ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2380190 ) but I finally got chrome cast to work the way I wanted through my receiver. It's a Sony d520.

I don't know if you guys just prefer plugging into your receivers but if you have a TV with HDMI 1.4 you can plug the chromecast directly into your TV and audio will travel to your receiver via the "audio return channel" spec of HDMI 1.4.

Its not limited to 1.4, BUT it is limited to stereo
This is the reason why some of us want it plugged into the receiver. Plus, it also means that the receiver does all the switching instead of your ps3, cbox, BD player, roku etc all going through the receiver and them the chromecast on input 2 on the tv Those are my reasons anyway..even though I only have a ps3....

I couldn't tell you exactly what Youtube video got 5.1, but it was probably an HD video on Vevo.
My pioneer vsx9040txh works with it, and it seems it sounds better than using a Bluetooth adapter for audio.
