Hi all,
First post, so please go easy on me!
Earlier today I rooted my N7000 Glaxy Note, UK Version (Unlocked). However, I have since managed to clear the Firmware (ICS), and now I have nothing on there. The phone itself will not boot, and presents me with PhilZ Touch 3 CWM Base Version: 6.0.2.7
I was trying to get Kitkat on the device, however now I have nothing on there and every time I try and install the rom I downloaded (CM-11), I get an Error 7 within the recovery, so it aborts the installation.
Can anyone direct me at all? When looking for stock Android, I cannot find any for my exact device, etc. They are all different carriers / mobile networks.
To be clear, my device is as follows:
Galaxy Note N7000
Unlocked UK Model
XXLSA
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

1. To flash KitKat you'll need a different recovery so flash the latest raw kernel.
2. You can flash any N7000 stock ROM , it doesn't have to be the same as your old one.

Many thanks for the response.
I am not completely clued up to this, however I do have a very good understanding of computing, etc. Could you please explain what you mean by "a different recovery, so flash the latest raw kernel"? I wouldn't know where to locate one of these!
Also, is this to say I can flash any stock ROM I find, despite it not being specifically for a UK network, etc?

Well, since recovery is build into the kernel. Any kernel with updated recovery will be fine.

It doesn't say what mine is, or what it believes it to be (it is a N7000 100%).

Flash this using this with the help of this
Then use this to get rid of yellow traingle
EDIT: are you sure you are rooted?
what steps did you follow?
Probably failing because no USB debugging?
Does it show 'added' in ODIN?
Try flashing one of the zip philz.
Download the one for your baseband
@LondonT download raw kernel R4 or R5 (search for it) and put it on your external sd card. Flash from philz recovery, reboot recovery and then flash KK rom from your external card along with gapps.

hi.
i have an Australian N7000B Note, and it is currently rooted on the latest available android in the country for the phone (2.3.6)
i have superuser and CWM installed.
i can boot into CWM and navigate with no worries, but whenever i try to install any custom rom, regardless what rom it is, i get the same error.
i really want to get off this crappy rom that Telstra provides with the phone, so any help is greatly appreciated.
many thanks
pic attatched of error.
Use ODIN to flash a stock ICS or GB ROM and then re-root and add cwm and try again
the issue you face is because your version is the GT-N7000B and the build.prop is for the GT-N7000 so its failing because it believes the ROM is for a different device.
if the product codes do not match up in the build.prop it will fail - this applies to all devices and all ROMs.
you could also open the .zip and find the build.prop and change all of them, But its a pain in the ass !

Because these are for the N7000 if i flash a stock ICS rom on my N7000B what will happen?
http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=8
Put your details in there and it will find you a stock ROM. Ive seen threads where N7000B users have flashed N7000 ROMs without any issues.
EDIT: You CAN use any GT-N7000 firmware !
Awesome! I am downloading the Gingerbread Australian Rom as we speak for the N7000. if i flash it with odin, root it, and then install CWM would it work with installing custom roms such as paranoid android etc?
Yes because the Stock firmware will remove the 'B' and you will have no more install errors
Be sure to follow the instructions to the letter !! and make a nandroid before commencing.

Well, i have a nandroid backup of the current firmware, i made it just after i rooted it.
so, i will flash it with Odin on PC correct? does it require i wipe everything off the phone?
sorry for the questions i am a noob lol
you can wipe before or after it makes no difference so long as your on GB.
Dont ever wipe on ICS unless your on a safe kernel.
But do do a wipe as it will start you off on a fresh clean install

Hi guys,
Trying to root my note, i've got jellybean 4.1.2 and followed a guide, but my baseband version is XXLT3 but the guides i've seen are for XXLT5, now does this make a difference? My instinct says yes, but I've yet to find anything on rooting with XXLT3, so anyways I went ahead, used odin and tried rooting, got the green pass but downloaded the rootchecker app and it's telling me it's not rooted.
I'm stumped, any ideas?
Thanks in advance

For the stock LT5 ROM, its base band is LT3. You can get root by flashing kernels for LT5, for example Philz kernel LT5.
Head over to philz thread

U can use xxlt5.. Download the zip file place on exr sd, go to recovery choose install zip select philz.zip file and you will have root and custom recovery

Hi everyone,
Sort of a noob question here. I am aware that the answer is very possibly already hidden somewhere in the numerous posts out there, but im getting kind of lost in all the different posts that are all somehow related to this topic.
So, I want to update my already rooted s4 active (i9295) to the latest version of Android (Lollipop, Android 5.0.*). I found enough information on this and I'm comfortable doing this.
BUT, to my knowledge, updating my rooted phone to the latest version of Android will make me lose root privileges. I haven't found a clear description on how to re-root my phone after updating. Is anyone able to help me out here?
Summary:
-------------------------------------------------------
ℹ Phone: GT-I9295
ℹ Current OS: Android 4.4.2
ℹ Custom Recovery: CWMR
-------------------------------------------------------
Objective:
-------------------------------------------------------
Re-root GT-I9295 after update to Android 5.0.*
Thanks a lot, Thomas
Flash custom recovery with Odin, then flash SuperSU in recovery.
No luck yet....
thanks for your anwser!
unfortunately I cant seem to get a custom recovery flashed through ODIN. I tried both CWM (CWM-Recovery-gt-i9295_v1-2.tar.md5) and TWRP (twrp_mythi_8.tar).
Flashing the official Android udate worked fine, so I am now on android 5.0.1, but I lost root ..... and I dont like that much... I want my root back....:crying:
Dont know if this matters in any way, but when ODIN is done, I dont get a green box that says [PASS], but blue box that says [RESET]
Any advice on getting a custom recovery installed???? Can I install it through ADB?

Also recommend to read my thread about failsafe method to flash anything (next post). And specific how to get from stock to custom recovery 1st time. Please use Odin 3.0x, multirom TWRP made by spegelius and SuperSU 2.46. The files that you have tried is old and made for jellybean and Kitkat. Most recent links is in my thread.

I used Odin to install the "Noble Kernel_auto-root" and I guess is the one is giving me problems.

You can try Dr. Ketan's rom..it has option available for different kernels (including stock modified). If you want to flash kernel alone..i think odin is the only way (until flashable zip available- for that you need custom recovery).

Incorrect. If @alfboy001 has a custom recovery installed, he can flash the kernel that way. Most kernels I've seen are .zip format so custom recovery would be the only way to flash them. ODIN is for .tar or .tar.md5 files only.

Hi, I wanted to change the ROM of my old GT-N7000 as I recently got a Note 4 but I did what I should have never done.
I wanted to install TWRP to get the Spirit ROM. TWRP app downloaded well from the Play Store and I did it!
When I restarted the Note I stayed with the Samsung Galaxy Note screen and since several days I cannot found out anything to install a new Rom.
I searched the Web, found out a few guide saying to install CWM but I don't have any Recovery mode available now.
I still get the connection in Odin when I put the Note in download mode but that's all.
Please, if someone could help and tell me what to do. I'm a homeless and all my money is going into cyber to search for solutions.
I really need one.
Thanks anyway...

Okay, so...
From my old stuff in an external HD i Have this :
ROM STOCK WIPE SAMSUNG - N7000XXLC1_N7000OXALC1_OXA (GingerBread).zip
Rooted Stock Odex N7000XXLC1 (GingerBread France).rar
XEU-N7000XXLT9-20130611091825 (Jelly Bean Euro).zip
In the link you gave me they ask to download a firmware from SamMobile but they are 3 for the French GT-N7000 and my last update was a 4.1.2 working with any provider, even in Spain (I do live in Spain). Secondly, one have to be a premium member to download those firmware.
I think I should be able to install what I need using files I already have but Odin doesn't recognize .zip or .rar files and I don't know what to do. I upgraded the system a few years ago and don't remember how.
I also have no idea if zhat i recently did with TWRP changed partitions size and if it is the case then I have no idea of how to use PIT files.
Also, those guides refer to versions of program not available anymore and sometimes they changed names of buttons...
Have you repartitioned your phone? Those .zip files have .md5.tar files and odin recognise then in the AP section. I think that the 1-st .zip maybe is firmware. For download firmwares only you need to register for free to download firmwares with slow download speed (aproximately hour or two for downloading a single firmware file).

No I didn't change size of partitions...
I finally tested a XEU-N7000XXLT9-20130611091825 (Jelly Bean Euro) I had (don't know where it comes from). Unziped and opened in Odin with the AP button.
It installed this new ROM and the phone started but is not rooted anymore. I have now a 4.1.2 which doesn't seem to be one a got before,
At least I can start the phone...
What surprise me is to see the TWRP app on the phone screen and also SuperSU. SuperSU say the phone is not rooted.
Now, I suppose I have to forget everything about TWRP and must think about CWM no ?
If I want to test and then, install different ROM I sometimes see that TWRP is the one needed to do the job...
What do you think I should do now ?
Root the device using CWM or something different ?
You can try everything you want in the Android development section but this time follow the steps as they are and use the kernels and recoveries that are suitable for the deserved rom. Probably your Note is with custom 4.1.2 now. I am now using my Note with Leanige OS, based on CM12 and android 6.0 and am not having problems plus the phone is running very smooth and fast. This rom is using own Kernel, recovery and google apps(gaps) package.

You really interest me...
I'm surprised cause it's because I found out a guide to instal a 6.0.1 which needed TWRP that drive me to install it.
I'm really confused too because I downloaded TWRP app from the Play Store and it accepted to downlñoad and install the app to my phone. It also accepted to download the Rom and it's when I restarted the device that I met me with an unusable phone...
So ?...
Sure, if I wasn't alive I wouldn't have done that but is it all my fault ????
I would ne glad to get all the steps you did and files you got to install your ROM on mine Ç(as far as it speak french and spanish too )
Is it "Leanige OS" or "LineageOS ?
What about the battery ? The autonomy ?
And I must say I'm a homeless and don't have a computer with a 22= screen in my backpack. Also I have only 1 Gb of data each month so...
Most of the time when I have problem that means I have to go to cyber and this is never free....
Then I cannot really read everyday everything about all my devices ( and I'm not only speaking about phones)
Anyway thanks a lot to everybody who help me...
This is what I use now : https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note/development/rom-nightowl-alpha1-t3255536 It is stable and usable as a every day phone. I followed every step Bauner wrote and I don't have issues for now. Battery life depends on the use of the phone and how old is the battery. Mine is 2012 and it can hold 1 day and it is logical.
Try using Kies to restore it. I had to use Kies to update the OS on my bratty little sisters Note as she had gotten it running full throttle all the time.

Hi, I will try now to upgrade the ROM but wanted to ask you if you make any change to your partition size and if yes what did you do, I mean how much place did you allow for the system?
Tell me if your phone is rooted and how you did it and if you have CWM or TWRP installed please...
Thanks
I downloaded those two files:
N7000_STOCK_PIT.zip => In case I have to reinitiate partition size one day
n7000_(16gb)_4_6_8_10_12gb.zip => Cause I think this one should be the one I need.
I suppose I should be allowed to use the ROM I just previously installed which give me a 4.1.2

It should be bigger for a full OS no?
I'm a little bit stuck with this http://opengapps.org/?arch=arm&api=6.0&variant=micro
What version should I get and how did you install TWRP ? The las version of this ROM must be installed with it...
Well I lied to you. I am using Philz touch CMW recovery and sorry for that. The size of the Rom is normal. With the Gapps you just need to hit the download button (red one) and flash it later. Install could be not a big problem. The steps are in the post. If you didn't find them here they are: Copy Rom + Google Apps to your sdcard.
3.flash PhilZ-cwm6-XXLT6-XSA-5.06.1.tar.md5 (https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=745425885120702299) to get cwm recovery by using odin or mobile odin
4. boot into recovery
5. flash this kernel https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95887005526788121 to get an updated cwm recovery
(this step will make your old rom unbootable stuck in the n7000 screen but you can boot into recovery with press and hold "home" and "volume+" buttons and power on your phone)
6. you need to reboot! your device now to recovery
7. you are now in the updated recovery and you need to do a factory reset (and to go sure you should also format the /system partition)
8. you can now install the rom and gapps and reboot your device
