[Q]autovoice, tasker, autoremote + tasgear = basic voice search without tethering? - Samsung Galaxy Gear

Hello folks, I'm sure there are some folks in here with some fancy tasker setups in here. I need your help. I want to set up basic voice search capabilities on my gear without tethering. Not web pages, obviously, but questions like 'how many ounces in a pound' or 'how tall the Eiffel tower', that Google speaks answers back.
I've set up autovoice and auto remote on the gear. Auto contacts too. I've managed to send voice search commands from gear to phone, and have the phone search what I requested on the gear.
Now, how do I capture the search results as a variable? I can't seem figure that out, and that is the last thing standing between me and success, after that, it's cake

nobody has any ideas? maybe there is a way to capture what google search sends to the text-to-speech engine. or are voice results handled natively by search?

[Q.] Google Voice - Any CONS?

What are the cons of Google Voice?
I was hesitant during the sign-up process to enter my phone numbers, just because I was skeptical. Is there any concern?
Also, when you are on your cell, do you always get a prompt when placing a call to use your phone or Google Voice? Any way to prevent that, if so.
Using GV still uses your minutes... so I'm not sure I understand the benefit if I don't have any other phone numbers I would have sent to my cell.
I tried searching, but I think my questions are so simple there were no other posts *that I found* like mine.
Thanks guys.
Privacy Policy. read it.
you can set up gv to work over data. theres a thread here
I did read the PP, that is what made me pause and not set up the account over a month ago. I am now re-visiting the idea and thought I would solicit advice.
I did not realize it could be done over data. I will try and find that thread. Do you get a prompt each time you place a call what method you want to use? Can you set a default like other options in the phone?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=548405
theres the thread.
i don't use GV, but i use the official app. There is an option to when you want it to allow in the official app. I only use google voice for sms though. someone will stop by and chime in
I use the official app to save voicemails and to forward my google voice numberto my phone. I also have the sms and email sent with the transcript.

Voice command list

Hi,
As you know, AA voice commands are a subset of Google Search Voice commands. So I like to post here a list of "working" AA voice commands. Someone knows about this list?
For example, I'm searching about "navigate to [contact name]", but it dosn't work at all! Someone can help?

I'm curious about that too. I don't think maps can search your contacts for addresses. I hope I'm wrong though. I even try to set a custom label within maps, but no dice.

Yes, it can, but not with the voice... or I don't know how to do with a voice command.
If you like to navigate to a contact using AA: Use the keyboard in the SEARCH box inside the GOOGLE NAVIGATOR. Here if you type the NAME of the contact, instead of searching in Google you can show the ADDRESS of the CONTACT.
The problem: Why Google don't implement a Voice Command for this task?

Oh I didn't know that! I'll have to try that out. I just sent them a twitter message about being able to do it by voice, I'll let you know if they respond.

For sure we need a FULL list of voice commands in AA. I feel documentation from Google is incomplete.

Always will be incomplete I guess, unless it's completely reverse engineered out on an ongoing basis. Is this the "documentation" talked about ? : https://support.google.com/androidauto/?hl=en#6140614
I like "take me home" ; read about that somewhere.

Yes, that is! :highfive:
I hope Google will update this list with important missed commands, like:
"Go to address [CONTACT]".
"Search around the "DESTINATION" [petrol, parking, hotel, etc.]".
"Send E-MAIL" (idem as with SMS, messages, etc.).
"Show next EVENT (in my agenda)".
"Go to address of [EVENT] (in my agenda)".
"Call with [Message App] to [CONTACT]" (Message App = VoIP message Apps).
This my open list! :silly:
And then there are all the non-English languages. Is there a list of languages for AA anywhere ?
Are AA commands a subset of OK Google commands ? I've never used voice commands much, either way.

I was searching the internet for an AA voice command list as well, but could not find it anywhere. Specifically I was looking for AA whatsapp voice commands. I just know 1 command "Ok Google", "Send Whatsapp message to <name>". But I was wondering if there were more (eg. "Ok Google", "play Whatsapp message from <name>") when I just received one.
Does AA not use the normal Google voice assistant? When doing voice commands . using the Google assistant on my home screen, results are better than when using android auto

Hi,
This is the reason for this thread: found info about voice commands supported by AA.
I don't know why Google don't share this info!
Please, post here any documentation you found.
Thank you!

Google reminders won't notify me

Hi,
I have a problem with the Google app reminder feature.
When I create a notification with voice command, like "Ok Google, remind me to call Tim today at 16:00", the reminder is created but at 16:00 there's no notification of ringtone.
The reminder is still there when I open the Google app.
The same problem exists, when I create a notification inside the Google app without voice command.
How can I get it working? It's really annoying because I use it very often. Siri worked not as great as Google with it's voice recognition but the reminders worked perfectly every time.
Is it also possible to make a reminder as a calendar entry with voice commands?
Greetings,
Jannomag
Hi I tried the voice assistance app Lyra that I think is pretty good
I like the google assistant and still want to use it. Even though I need the assistant in German, I like system integrated things.

Autovoice and Assistant

Hi guys, when I try to send an autovoice command through the normal 'ask autovoice to...', the command is executed and then autovoice stay in wait for others commands.
The problem happens when I try to send command with a shortcut of Google assistant... Only receiving the response 'command sended' and then autovoice left the conversation...
Ok you need to have an Autovoice Profile in place to react to the Google Assistant message. In Google assistant (Short cut) Ask Autovoice to...... In Tasker, Create a profile with a AutoVoice Recognised Event listening for the short cut text, I've noticed in the past that it helps to use exactly the same case etc. This will then link to a Tasker 'Task' to actually perform what you want it to do.

Could that method be used to ask autovoice to trigger the news briefing of google assistant? I wold like to replace google assistant but do not want to lose my news..
Hi, If you can create a tasker event that will open your news feed, then I don't see why not.

Android Auto: Google Maps does not recognize links in messages

Hello,
I use Android Auto for a couple of weeks now.
If someone sends me a link to an adress through Whatsapp or Signal, I get the notification in my car which is read out.
Unfortunately, Android Auto does not recognize the link to the place and does not ask me to get navigated to that point.
Is this behaviour normal?
I expected that the Assistant recognizes Google Maps links in messages and asks if I want to be guided to that adress. Unfortunately, this does not happen. Can someone explain why?
Does someone else face the same topic?
Thank you.
EDIT:
I did it with Tasker. Link:
How to click a link in a notification?
Hello, I use Tasker mainly for tasks concerning my bluetooth devices (e.g. headphones and car to start the music player). Recently, I started using Android Auto in my car. In a lot of situations, I drive and my partner searches for an address...
