Hello,
Today I tested out the wipe feature of an anti theft app (was on JVO stock + CF Root Kernel). The external SD was not modified in any way (no speedmod, ext file system or anything).
For some reason, it failed (it did work successfully in the past). It neither wiped the internal nor the external SD card. Now the external SD card is gone (see below).
After the wipe the phone auto rebooted and recovery mode showed this:
Code:
Android system recovery <3e>
[i]standard options were listed here, the "reboot system now" option was selected and the system was waiting for input[/i]

So I clicked "reboot now"
Now the main issue: since then the SD card is no longer recognized.
The taskbar icon keeps saying "SD card is empty or" (the rest is outside the screen). Storage info says unavailable (see attached pic).
Any chance to get the card working again? I don't really care about the lost data as I backed this up prior.
Also tried to access the card with a card reader in Windows but nothing happens at all when I insert the card into the reader.
Try to make a folder called external_sd on your internal card.

Ok, did that and even created a folder inside external_sd. Now what?
It still shows "not available" on the external SD card storage space info. Formatting still does nothing and mounting card via the settings menu just hangs.
edit: copied over a few hundred MB into the external_sd folder. According to the storage space info it consumes space on the internal card so apparently that new folder is not really accessing the external card?
My external sd wasn't recognised too (but with MIUI), after I created this folder everything worked fine. So it would have been possible that it works for you too.
But don't copy anything into the folder, let it empty.
Sadly, that didn't do the trick.
Aren't there any tools or anything in recovery menu that could help me getting the ext. SD card recognized again? I can't even format it in Windows since it's not recognized.
Have you tried another sdcard in your Galaxy?
This is the only SD card of this type I have. :/
did you try flashing your phone ?
Yes, I flashed a few times (downgraded from Gingerbread JVO to Froyo JPU, then flashed to JPY and eventually via Kies to GB again, JVI), the problem remained.
I think you have problems with internal sd card ( storage ) If you have waanty you need to go to service, change phone.
Could you explain this further? What makes you think the internal SD storage is faulty? So far, only the external card no longer works.

As you can see, phone can't format /dev/block/mmcblk0p2 and other partitions.
mmcblk0p2 mounted at /sdcard . Can't format, so can't mount unformated partitions.
External sd card mounted at /sdcard/external_sd. If sdcard not mounted - external too not mounted. Why can't format? I dont know, or memory chip bricked, or some thing with soldering.
I'm so unfamiliar with recovery mode, thanks for these explanations.
So could that mean my internal SD may fall apart at some point too?
I think phone boot in this order:
1. First Bootloader
2. Second Loader
3. Kernel
In first loader we can boot usually or in Download Mode
In Second - Recovery mode to install update.zip or wipe data, cache and sdcard
I have a similar problem. I have a 4GB external SD-card. It functioned fine until updating the MIUI-mod. After that, only the internal 16GB could be seen by the SGS. Even when I went back to Froyo, the card couldn't be read anymore. It wasn't even detected. Except when removing the SD. The system says then that the card can be removed... strange since it already is removed. Connecting it again, the message goes away. I checked the SD in my cardreader on the pc. Working fine there. I formatted it multiple times (FAT32), but no luck so far. The SD doesn't seem to be broken or should I format it with another clustersize or something?
Try this, on my phone it helped:

But do not copy any files in it. Just reboot after you have created the folder and then your external sd should be recognised.

hope ur fone has the right bootloaders..
My note can't see the internal storage after trying to copy a file on it (which wasn't succesful). Now in PhilZ touch 4 CWM when I try 'install Zip' --> 'Choose from internal sdcard', it says 'E: can't mount /emmc/
Please help me to recover my files. Which steps I should take (otherwise then format) to recover my files and the internal storage?
Tnx
Edit: can't format emmc, can't mount it
What to do?? (
mount /emmc from mount & storage option in CWm recovery
I have a SU660 and had the latest V30C stock firmware originally, 16gb internal storage is visible.
Today I used nvflash-cleaner-v0.2 to reformat (went back to GB) and installed CWM --> install paranoidandroid CM9 via ext SD card, but it seems that the intSD is gone, can't be seen in setting -> storage or file manager.
In CWM, under "Mounts and Strage Menu", I click mount /emmc or /sdcard, it won't mount.
- unmounts /system
- unmounts /cache
- unmounts /data
- mount /emmc
- mount /sdcard
Anyone can help?
search
You have plenty of info / solution...just using internal site search at the top

I get the error "unable to mount emmc" when trying to wipe data. I've tried repartition in Odin and countless other things. If I reflash firmware I can boot if I flash a fix. I can't remember what the fix is. Is there any fix for corrupted data partition? I really don't wanna store the OS in the SD card. I'd like to sell my device ASAP.
Anybody?
Somebody?

If you have a custom recovery try going to mounts and storage and formatting emmc from there...
The Internal NAND is dead. Get a microsd card, create an ext4 partition and use that as your /data
I tried to reformat /data to f2fs with TWRP 2.8.5 but I got the following errors:
Code:
Formatting Data using mkfs. f2fs...
Done.
E:Unable to mount '/data'
E:Unable to recreate /data/media folder
E:Unknown MPT message type: 1
Updating partition details....
E:Unable to mount '/data'
I then noticed my entire SD card was empty! So I restarted Android and it went trough a first boot, got a welcome screen etc.
Now when use Disk Usage app, it lists the newly created folders on my SD card, but my old data appears as a "system data" block. It's not a folder and I can't access it. So my internal SD card is now near full while there suppesedly aren't any files on it. What happened here and can I get my data back?
