I know this has been discussed before, and that there are no such offers for us developers, but in Google Play you have the option to enter gift cards OR promocodes, so where does those promo codes come from?

I never tried using promo codes. I only heard that you can obtain them by buying Google Play Credit on Android Playstore app or play.google.com.

Theft Aware is running a promotion for T-Mobile users. Keep your new shiny phone safe with it. Install it from market, I got a popup immediately saying that it was free for a license. Promotion expires on the 19th

May have to try this, not really happy with Mobile Defense, yes it still works and does what it says it will do but they haven't updated anything for like 8 months
EDIT: I do believe that the wording is wrong where did you see where it says its free to tmo customers
there are lots of freebies apps in android market that can do the same, tracking, alerting, locking, data wipe, etc...
Got it! Thanks for the info.

You do know that there are 2 T-Mobile's right?
According to the Theft Aware site, this promotion is only for T-Mobile Europe, not USA. Look under the news column on the right: http://www.theftaware.com/?l=en&step=section_invis
It links to this facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/TopApps?v=app_118827704853728
EDIT: Did a simple google search and it's T-Mobile Germany only.

While you are correct in that this particular promotion is targeted at German T-Mobile customers, it does indeed work with US phones. I have a license and my sister has one on her G2. And even more technically, T-Mobile USA is owned by T-Mobile Germany... so in a roundabout way all T-Mobile customers are eligible .
I doubt they would voice the license; you obviously have to have a T-Mobile SIM to get the promotion so it's not like the entire country is getting a free ride. Furthermore, when setting up an emergency contact it tells you that your selected number isn't an international one - so not all of the security functionality may work properly in the US. In any case, at the moment, T-Mobile USA customers can get a free license by downloading the app through the market today.

can you please point me to where the promo is? I don't see it anywhere. Is it over?
I'm on pay as you go with t-mobile in the usa. As soon as I installed the trial from the market. I got notified that I got the full license for free.
I guess it's not just for germany.
As for the number is not an international one, I got the same thing. You must enter it in the following format: +15555555555
With the 1 being the usa county code.

I just installed this from the market as well, I didn't get the notification about getting the full license for free...though honestly I don't think I'll have much of an issue with paying the little bit of next to nothing to protect my $500+ phone.

Installed on my Nexus S with TMo, but free license notification did not come up. Any idea on what may be preventing it from triggering?
You need to set the whole app up, then launch it. On first launch it will tell you about the license.

I did all that, even set up the app itself and enabled it, but no free license notification. What does it use to detect if you're on TMo or not?

Hi all. I was wondering how many of you guys outside of the US, UK, Australia or any of the non supported yet countries have managed to claim the $25credit? Seems like some weren't able to managed to do so. This thread aims to help those who aren't able to do so, kindly post if you were able to or not able too.
Basically just in this format
Country:
Able to gain the free credit? :
If yes, kindly explain a little. Does your Google wallet have a card attached to it? US Address? And any info which might help
Thanks

Same here, from Israel, waiting for my Nexus 7 from US.
Just got mine in Portugal.
It was purchased from Ebuyer UK and as far as I've been told, all units purchased from them have the £15 Free Credit to spend in the Google Play Store. However, it seems i don't have it yet.
And yes, I have my credit card data linked to my Google Wallet account.

Same in Netherlands.
I tried to no avail. I guess the credit comes with the Google Wallet app, and that one doesn't work yet here in the Netherlands. Perhaps a proxy will do the trick.

It shouldn't, since the wallet app is US only atm. Maybe it's linked to the UK play store?
Is there a way to get it outside the selected countries?
You get the credit when you link your Google Wallet to your device.
Google Wallet will need to be backed up by a credit card/bank account in one of the 4 release countries. While you could use a proxy to sneak in you are not going to have the financial details you will need to create it. You would of course also be breaking Googles TOS which leads to termination of your account.
By Google Wallet I am talking about: https://wallet.google.com/ account not the associated NFC App which is USA only. You can have an account without the App.
Can it be done by say....
1. Borrowing a US credit card . adding it then deleting it after getting the free credit?
2. Adding a prepaid credit card?
Oh do you get the free books and the Transformers movie off the bat or do you need to activate the free credit to get those too?

So as of this morning Moto Maker is finally live for all 4 major US carriers. At the end of the checkout process there's an option to enter a Promo Code. Does anyone know of one that will work on Verizon (if that matters)? I tried VERIZON30 and FIFTYRMN which I found through Google searches that may work through Verizon's website, but nothing works on the Moto Maker site. Anyone know of a working code?

THANKYOU10
You also get $10 Google Play credit if you share after you make your order.

Looks like it's dead... Tried using it for TMo version. It accepts the code, but it says "NOT APPLIED" and no discount is shown.

Doubtful. I think it was probably a bug with the coupon in the beginning. I also called Motorola, as the above poster, and got a similar response: the coupon is for accessories and there is no coupon for the X itself at this time. Congrats to those who got to take advantage of it. I'm jealous.
As am I

You can try calling their sales reps. I don't know if you're eligible, but you could potentially apply for a credit account through motorola. Not sure if they allow non US residents to do that though.

Are they not accepting the card because it's not Visa/MC/Disc/Amex, or is it one of those but issued through an international branch? If it's something else, can you purchase a Visa prepaid card and use that?

Did tmobile give a free lg g4 to all its employees? I see round many if them sell these for cheap because they got them for free.

No, they do have a LG partner program that allows employees to purchase one for a discounted price. It's not free.

You tell me lol I have had 4 different lg g4 purchased online and all came from tmobile employees. I don't think they stole them or else they would not sell them online with name and address. They all said it was a gift and I believe them because when you check the imei on tmo website it shows not recognized, meaning it was a gift for real and never registered for sale. So there is something going on with tmobile and this phone.

Only problem with these LG G4 units is that their IMEI's do not seem to be recognized by T-mobile...
http://lgpartnerpurchaseprogram.com/password password LGG4
So, I ended up buying one of these units unknowingly online. Like was said here, the IMEI isn't blacklisted per se, but it doesn't show up in tmobile's registry so I'm having a hell of a time trying to unlock it. Anybody successfully unlock one of these units? I've tried several online unlock services and tmobile has tried several times. Seems like even installing the h815 firmware hasn't worked for others. Any ideas?

G5 Sale
Hey, I wanted to quickly ask anyone about the password they changed it to for the G5. I am a tech care employee as well and can't seem to find it. I already have my partnerpurchaseprogram account registered with my t-mobile.com email from the G4 and the V10 sale, but I feel like I didn't even get the G5 email and no one seems to know it. Does anyone know what they changed it to?
