I was on Slimkat 5.0 stable and I had transparent status bar. I flashed Slimkat 5.4 weekly I still got the kitkat transparent status bar turned on by default somehow and later on I flashed few other ROMs PA 4.4.3 nightly and then PAC MAN 4.4.3 nightly after these I flashed Slimkat 5.0 stable back and I have lost transparent status bar. Even with xposed framework and gravity box I can't get it back to being transparent. I clean flashed all the ROMs.
What do I do now?

Try using a different launcher. Nova allows it.

I tired that too. Didn't work.
I finally found the solution...had to remove this line from build.prop to get kitkat transparent status bar turned on: ro.config.low_ram=true

Or you can configure it in Settings->Performance-> Force high-end graphics[ENABLE it] and Reboot the device
If you don't see 'Performance' option in Settings, then goto Settings->About Phone, Tap 'Build Number' option for 6 times, you'll enable Performance Option

Hello SIRs,
Personally i just like the stock status bar or black status bar. But ROMs like insertcoin, ARHD etc... they are transparent by default.
I was using a xposed app to get a black status bar, but now it is not work with kitkat sense 5.5 ROMs.
Any ideas?
Thanks for your help.

The story goes like this:
I installed TWRP
I tried to install a new ROM...Ganabarou..
Which kept locking at the flash load screen.
I wiped the Tab to reinstall from scratch..(moron)..deleted the new ROM as well..haha..(idiot)
I tried to fix it myself but couldn't get Odin to work properly
I gave it to my friend at work..Tristan...genius..
He reinstalled a stock ROM with Odin and removed TWRP load the stock ROM.
Booted and work fabulously so i set all by Sync details then an update loaded and the Tab rebooted..it came up with a black background and the navigation bar was gone.
I called the Samsung help desk and they said take it to the local Samsung techo's.
Samsung fixed it gratis by re-flashing my firmware.
My Tab is now happy until I try it again i the near future...roflol....
Thank you Samsung...great service.

Did you turn on the expanded desktop in the power menu
by default turning it on will hide both status and nav bar
Thank's for reply, fixed now.
I think because some flashing mod are not compatible then broke my system ui.
Fixed with refreshing rom. My stupid mistake is not creating backup before doing with modification.
But because of that I learned what it's xda power tool.

I just updated to 4.4.2 on stock OS and noticed that this didn't change as I expected it to. Is there a setting that I need to activate for this?

Sorry to tell you this- The app drawer wasn't meant to be transparent. The pull down bar is transparent in most apps. A few don't have the API i guess.
Solution: Install a Sense-based custom ROM. U have the option of making both of them fully transparent, the way you actually wanted it to.

In settings-status bar you have options to change battery status style, show clock, show battery status percent, signal status style, show notification count, double tap to sleep.

Kitkat style is possible on Jelly Bean using themes; but i dont think it is possible on official ICS.
Although highly doubtful, Check exposed however as your last resort for any modules.
