This is an issue I didn't have on my note 2 and I am hoping it is a setting somewhere. When I take a picture with the camera I hear the shutter sounds but it is at least another second before the actual picture snaps. So if I move the camera before waiting the picture is blurry. If anything I am photographing moves before that second is up the picture is blurry. With the note 2 when I pressed the camera button it took the picture instantly. Any ideas to fix this would be appreciated.

You might have image stabilization turned on.

Smart stabilization is off and mode is set to auto

It's not just you. This happens to me (and several other people that I know of), and it has nothing to do with Smart Stabalization, as it effects the camera in any app, not just stock camera. Happens to me in Google Camera, Instagram, etc. Even happens in my Wells Fargo app for depositing checks.

I just purchased the One and tried both dailyroads and autoguard black box. I notice that it gets REALLY choppy when it's dark out. This did not happen with my nexus 4.
I notice that when i'm in the htc camera app, the viewfinder is also choppy when it's dark out, but when i turn on video recording, it's smooth like butter.
It's almost like dailyvoyager and autoblackbox are recording from the camera viewfinder rather than going into the camera's recording mode to record video. Does anyone experience the same thing? Is there a fix?
Try VideoReg. I prefer it over the two you mentioned. I have noticed that often when it starts up the preview will not be automatically in focus for some reason, so go into the settings screen then back out and it works. The developer is getting a One and has a beta that makes the One's HDR video mode available. Should be some good stuff on the way in a month or two.

Thanks.
Anyone else experiencing this?
Back camera is fine, but on Google camera, stock camera, camera apps like Snapchat- incredibly laggy front camera. Like 1-2 fps. Video and picture mode. Tried HDR on and off. Starting a video recording will kick it back into normalcy, but as soon as it ends recording, the preview goes back into stuttering. On Snapchat, the recording is stuttered.
Im having the same issue

My back camera is great. But when it comes to using the front-facing camera its absolutely awful. A few frames per second and relatively delayed. Very grainy as well. I got much better quality on my s4....
Exactly! But then sometimes it's perfectly fine. Can't find any specific reason for it. I did notice that the stuttering improved when I was in a bright environment...? I'm perplexed. Never had anything like this happen with the S3 I was using.

I've noticed the same thing. Front camera works fine with lots of light but the FPS drops to **** as soon as it gets a bit dark. Not even too dark to see, just not super bright. I think it should be able to get fixed in a software update. Wishful thinking at least.
Wait till 5.0 drops we will probably have to just deal with it till then
On my Moto Maxx XT1225 i had the same issue.
On kitkat and even now that I'm trying soak lollipop, very very laggy
Only happens on low light conditions.
I noticed that my Oneplus 3T camera is very slow at taking picture from Whatsapp. The camera doesn't capture instantly after I press shutter button. There is a noticeable delay after I hear the shutter sound, sometimes up to 2 or 3 seconds! I have tried same Whatsapp version on different phones and they seem to capture instantly after I hear the shutter sound.
However if I am taking picture using camera app there is no delay at all. I am experiencing this problem since the first time I am using this phone.
I am using OxygenOS, rooted, stock kernel/franco kernel (doesn't matter, happens on both kernel).
Is there anyone having this problem? Or is this a known Oxygen OS bug?

I have the same issue with an unrooted stock phone as well!
Same here with my config
So I've updated to OOS 4.1.6 few days ago, still not getting better.
Hi All,
I recently purchased my Huawei P20 Pro phone expecting the photos to be amazing. The main reason I bought the phone was because of reviews stating how great the camera was indoors, and I have 2 children that I want to photo inside.
Sadly I am noticing the following issues:
- Skin tone of people shot using both the front and back camera are automatically smoothed and beautified, sometimes to the extent that they can look like wax works/ heavily made-up. It looks unnatural. I heard this could be issue on the front camera but was not expecting it on the back camera. This issue remains even when I turn down the beautification setting to zero.
- Indoor photo quality on the front camera for photos and videos is not great. Photos are grainy and full of artefacts in addition to the issue mentioned above about beautification. In fact I have shot comparatives with my iPhone 7 and there is little difference in quality.
- The camera can have a several second delay between pressing the "take" button and then snapping the photo. There is a particularly long lag when pressing using 40 MP and RAW settings.
The outdoor photos are largely taking fine though I am still seeing beautification of faces.
I hope this is something I can fix with the settings or a camera software update. So far it seems to me that my issue relates to one of the following:
- The settings I am using are not optimal. Perhaps I need to turn off AI. Could this be the case?
- The software on the camera is outdated. How can I check and update this?
- The phone I have is faulty.
- I have drastically overestimated how good the quality of this phone is. I hope this is not the case!
Please help me fix the issue as I don't want to return the phone...
I don't claim to have used the camera a lot. However, I did find this video which covers all the camera functions in detail. I keep it in its own playlist so I can easily refer to it.

I had the same problems with the Mate 10 Pro, no matter if shooting in Auto, Pro or Portrait. Horrible quality indoor, terrible skin tone. Pictures looked like oil paint
have you tried using the flash? photography is about light without light it will push up the iso and i wont use my rx100 past 1600-3200 so i would think these smartphones top out at what 400-800 maximum before they get grainy and noise reduction smears details etc
Oh I have seen so much worse when it comes to smoothening out details than P20 Pro. Galaxy S9 for example. P20 Pro gives me good details even in low light, best I've ever used.
im used to take photos indoors (mostly of my little nephews), i dont have problems with exposure or soft skin on the rear camera(i disabled the AI mode ) , on the other hand in the front facing camera you need to disable the beauty mode, disable it and set it to 0, Its normal to have a little delay in 40 MP RAW since well its a big 40MP picture. what firmware is on your device?
Hey, All,
I was shooting a video using the front-facing camera today and noticed something that I never had to deal with with my Pixel 2XL or my iPhone 7+.
During the recording, about every 25 seconds, the Camera would go out of focus for about 5 or 6 seconds and then go back into focus. It was just me talking on screen. No movement, no objects getting closer, no moving backrounds ether.
I tried it using the stock camera app as well as Open Camera. The auto focus issue happened during videos in both apps.
This is a deal breaker for me, so I'm hoping there's an easy fix.
Thanks so much in advance.
