I removed a system app by mistake can is there anyway I can go back to stock and get the app back? Is there a stock firmware that I can flash back on here?
Thanks.

Complete system restore to "stock".

How would I restore my Captivate completely back to stock - as if I were to just purchase it and pull it out of the box?
The situation is I uninstalled some apps with titanium backup and it wouldn't let me reinstall them or restore them. My swype lags and freezes the phone, it was actually doing that before I played with the AT&T apps - but now I need to get it back to stock so I can take it in for a replacement. Or, if taking it back to stock would fix swype then things would be fine.
How do I get all the original applications back on the device and get things back to normal so the people at AT&T do not notice it was played with and try and blame the swype issue on me?
I appreciate it!
You can restore the /system directory to stock.

That is the best we can do until the stock rom comes out.
I had a situation in which i was stuck in FC situation loop...nonstop. Made it to settings and factory reset in between FC's and fixed my problem. Had previously booted into recovery to reset and i believe this to be the source of corruption.

ODIN from Designgears is the way to go....
My program AIO Captivate tools has the restore to stock option in it. Here's the link.
EDIT: Holy Craptivate! This is an ancient thread.

@rockosifraidi, Why do you keep resurrecting ancient threads? This is your third one...This is just as annoying as someone posting a question in the dev forum....

[Q] deleted bloatware accidently

hey guys i accidently deleted my bloatware instead of freezing it and or renaming it and now my phone randomly powers itself off. is there something i can do about this? would a system dump work (deodexed) and if so what exactly would that do? would it replace all the stuff i deleted so i can freeze it like i should have to begin with. i am new at this so any input would be a great help .
you can (carefully) restore your phone using the FXZ

No need since you can't remove bloat without root.
Reinstall all the missing apps and see if that helps.
no i am rooted then i deleted accidently my bloatware so there is no way for me to reinstall it. so if i use this new restore or recovery i should be good to go again right? then i can root again and walah!!!!
just follow the link streetr8cer13 posted and then root again if need to. you will lose all of your settings and apps, unless you back them up with T.B

Can I use titanium backup to get rid if all this at&t bloat.

What the title says. I just want to get rid of all the at&t apps with titanium backup. Is this ok? I'm on ST and don't need or want any of them. Thanks

yes - suggest you "freeze" them rather than delete
Yes you can
Freezing them is giod than instead of deleting or removing it
tapped from DNA
Freezing is the best option. Its hard to bring it back to stock if you delete them.
Thanks everyone. Super fast responses!

What if you have already deleted a bunch and froze others? Can you Factory Reset and go into stock recovery and wipe?
Would this put everything I deleted back or am I SOL?

Factory Data Reset does not restore deleted system apps. Until an odin/oneclick is released for MJ5, your best hope is getting the apks from a phone that is on MJ5. I'd hook you up but I'm happily rooted on MI9.
Is there a list somewhere of apps that are safe to freeze?????
did got you ? :/

[Q] Seeing alot of hangs/crashes since bloat removal/root

Hello Gents, I'm new to android and have a few issues so far
I rooted my ATT Note 3 (SM-900A via Kingo and deleted manually a lot of the AT&T and Samsung bloatware apk's and odex files. Since then, I will be using the phone and randomly something that I'm not even using will stop. "Unfortunately 'some app name' has stopped." Its accompanied by small hang just before the message
I'm not using any other apps that utilize root. I tried reset factory settings but stock apps didnt return and still seeing some bugginess. is there anyway to go completely back to factory image with all bloatware, no root etc so that I can start over?
Can I flash a stock ROM back onto the device?
Thanks for all your help guys
Kies has an emergency recovery system which will return to stock. It might even back up what you have and restore it after the recovery.
Next time you try to remove bloat, just "freeze" the app. Don't delete it! We've got plenty of space we really don't need to delete. But if you want to delete. Back it up first. Freeze it. Wait till its been frozen for few days and no issues arise. Then delete.

That sucks because sammoblie doesn't have it yet either.
Yeh I'm still a little confused. Can you do tools -> update firmware and have it wipe/restore? I saw that in another thread.

[Q] update rooted/twrp phone

hey guys my phone is currently at 5.0 with rooted and twrp(just for phone backup/restore basically) and would like to update to 5.1. I tried installing the ota zip file from twrp but fail to do so. How should I proceed for this? I already converted the recovery back to stock but still no success on updating the file from sideload either. Any help would be appreciated!

U should be completely stock before updating to 5.1.. U can achieve it by downloading the correct system files of lollipop since its available.. And flash it using fastboot.....

if i go complete stock i would have to lose all the settings and update then go back to root again? Other files I have done back up but the settings are just a hassle somehow(minor tweaks here and there in settings)
