I need the Stock Firmware version G900AUCU2AND3 So that I can flash back to stock. In the thread return to stock it has the previous version G900AUCU1ANCE. I get a error when trying to odin back (SW REV CHECK FAIL : [about]Fused 2 > Binary 1). So I am not sure how its done but need someone who has it do a dump or how ever its done to get it in a way that it can be flashed either by odin or in recovery... Any help will be appreciated... Thanks
i will need this too, i have my phone on at&t next and after a year i can trade it in, but if its custom os and stuff i cant return it, so i will need this too if i want to return to stock so i can upgrade to a new phone next year.
Bump: This is needed very badly. As I imagine many people had to take that bloat ware update. If anyone that has this firm ware has a problem and needs to restore back to stock. They won't be able to use the one that's listed in on this forum as its the older one, and now that there is Root. Its very likely this will happen daily that people will need it. I don't know exactly what soft bricked my phone so it can happen to anyone. My phone was fine until a reboot. Please, please, please. I'm begging everyone that has it. I asked Samsung and they wouldn't help. Next maybe going to AT&T store and having warranty claim done. I don't really want to find the out come of that.
I need this very badly as well. I rooted my phone and then tried to alter my screen density via an app I found on Google Play. It requested root, I granted the permission and then when the phone rebooted it hung on "Samsung Galaxy S5" splash screen and will no go any further. ODIN will not allow me to flash G900AUCU1ANCE firmware since I did the OTA update. If anyone could post up their G900AUCU2AND3, I would appreciate it very much.

I estimate we will get @ least One to two of these per-day until we get the files. Since we now have Root. It may take a bit as At&t version don't seem to have much for devs. Or ones that care to really help.(I'll probably get reamed for this. Sorry for you that help and for your time) I contacted At&t they told me they could not help but I could send my phone in for warranty exchange. Its that or go to BestBuy and they can flash it back. I don't have a Bestbuy Nearby.
Guys, check that post. Shortydoggg found a temporary fix for any soft bricks. It's for extreme cases. My phone is fine (apart from some deleted stock apps) so I'll hold off until i get some more info but if you cant boot at all, his method should come in handy.

YUP, I did the AT&T update check and got it immediately afterwards. I instead of flashing every one separately and rebooting loaded the three files so minus the Bl file. I did not have the problems of having to reload APN this way.

A flash of the CSC file restores the APN after flashing the AP file, or flashing it together with the AP file, but it factory resets the phone. Flashing the AP file only is mostly for those who do not want a factory reset. But, a factory reset along with flashing only the AP file will indeed wipe the APN. I found all of that out through trial and error.

There should only be two boxes checked in odin thats f. reset time and auto reboot. Also Make sure you only check and load your firmware in the ap slot in odin. Now flash.

Yea I did thank you. Did it today and thanked the poster too.
Want to start over! Need help!
So I want to do whats written out in step 4 of shorttydogs thread but I don't want to mess up or brick my phone. My goal is to start over and go back to stock with bloatware and everything that is available on stock if I were to go AT&T and buy it today. Here is a little background on my phone. My phone is rooted and I do have safestrap (and busybox). I backed up everything on my microSD card. I also have the g900AUCU2AND3 firmware on my phone. In addition, I deleted some but not all AT&T bloatware, which I want back. Lastly, for some reason the "add call button" during my calls is missing and was replaced with a "record" button I think this was because of me playing around with xposed. I deleted xposed framework as well as wanam and tried everything to get the "add call button" back but I couldn't. Thus, I just want to go back to stock to fix all these issues. I just have a few questions before I proceed just to make sure I'm not doing anything wrong.
1) If I flash the AP, CP and CSC files will I achieve 100% stock with bloatware?
2) Will this return my "add call button"?
3) Is it as simple as just using odin 3.09 and flashing the AP, CP, and CSC files?
4) I also understand that this will take me back to G900AUCU1ANCE but will I be able to do an OTA do go to G900AUCU2AND3?
5) Is there anything else I need to know to prevent my phone from bricking!
Sorry for the long post but I am fairly new to this stuff and don't want mess anything up!

So I was messing with the system permissions in Es file exolorer, when I accidently set everyrhing to 666. As soon as I hit back I knew I was done for. I started getting foce closes on everything. I reset the phone hoping I could factory reset and be ok; but it keeps looping back to recovery when I turn it on. Im not home/in front a computer right now....but it seems my only hope is odin with the root files. I havent been able to find a stock rom for this phone. Att sucks for locking the bootloader. I will be donating to the bounty when I get in the house.
Anyone have any suggestions or know where a stock rom is oosted?

Thanks a lot. Finally home will try right now

Ok so the root de la vega seems to have been taken down since there is a new method. And I cant find the firmware for our phones,
What will happen if I try to load a tmobile firmware to the phone?
At this point I think I have a brick and might try it.

Bricked
Well, I've done it too, but mine brick is probably worse. I updated with OTA update, then attempted to root so I tried flashing the Odin inside the Vega package, just to find out the OTA patched the "holes", now I'm stuck at the "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again"
So I tried the One Click from the Vega package, but it doesn't do it, it fails with write protect error.
Kies don't have emergency recovery either, and won't even recognize the device.
I'm thinking I have to wait for the actual updated one click comes out to fix it.
Please be warned, DON'T try it

There are quite a few of us in that situation. There are a number of people working on it. Hopefully something will come up soon. I wish AT&T would actually release official firmware for our phone through Kies. Would make the recovery process so much faster than having to wait for people to rip MJ5 and re-package it.
i get a black screen....Help
i went ahead and rooted with kingo and deleted some stuff in the system/app folder and now after reboot i get com.google.process.gapps, dropbox, setup wizard and chaton [ unfortunately process has stop ] and it goes into a reboot loop, i can stop the reboot loop when i reroot with kingo but then all i get is a black screen with no apps, launcher, no access to any applications other than the systems settings. Pls help...

Me too - figured I'd wait a week before rooting, didn't even bothering to check xda, my bible on such matters, and her I am thinking I know better.
... neeeds me phooooooneeee!!!!!!!!
I rooted this phone for the sole purpose of using Titanium Backup. If the boot loader had been broken, I would have flashed a ROM from one of the very talented people that cook them.
That being said, I now want to flash the stock 4.3 upgrade. When I click the FOTA Upgrade button nothing happens, just a button click, nothing more (sound and tact). So I unrooted the phone and deleted every trace I could see. I ran 2 root checkers and verified. Then I called Tech Line. They got into my phone to try and push the upgrade, but told me that being still rooted blocked it from happening. I ran the SuperSU unroot and rebooted and pulled the battery. Again I have confirmation from boot checkers. So it should definitely be unrooted. But I haven't let Tech Line loose in it again. :fingers-crossed:
Moving on...
I followed the instructions on the Samsung site using Kies. But Kies tells me my firmware isn't supported for Kies update. Really?!?
I followed the instructions on the Droid Magic site, I downloaded file OneClick_I537UCUBMI2.zip and fired up Odin. I have tried several different versions of Odin but none use .zip files. The phone does connect to Odin both in download and stock bootup.
Should I attempt to reformat the compression of the file to .tar or similar? Could I extract and run the lone .exe file in the .zip? Is there a switch to flip, or script to run, or app to install that will allow FOTA or Kies to work?
I would rather get the FOTA button to work, but I'll take any and all thoughts or suggestions offered.
I'm working on hosting the file unrestricted temporarily so maybe it can help someone. But it's kinda big.

Is TitaniumBackup the only root app you've used, have you frozen anything, installed any mods, or messed with any of the apps in your system/app folder? This will become important later.

It sounds like you need to uninstall BusyBox. Normally SuperSU will uninstall this but it sounds like you tried a different method of unrooting that may have left bits in your system and since you weren't technically rooted anymore SuperSU didn't know what it needed to do.

It sounds like you have the AT&T i537. This phone has a locked bootloader as you know. AT&T has required Samsung to lock down the i537 and will not allow them to release any firmware on Kies, this is why the software says your phone is incompatible. Basically AT&T is screwing us hard.

The website you linked to is giving you bad information. The MI2 file is not technically "Official Firmware". This is a pre-release version of the firmware that DesignGears was able to get for the community. This will become important below.

As you've stated, this MI2 zip file that you've downloaded has a single exe file in it. This exe file should be run from a computer and it will allow you to flash new firmware to your phone. BUT, as I mentioned above this is pre-release firmware. What that means is you will forever be stuck on this firmware, you will not be able to take official updates from AT&T or Samsung. If you're ok with that, then go ahead and flash your phone with the pre-release of 4.3. If you want the official 4.3 update you have a little work to do. Above I asked you if you messed with any of the files in system/app, this is because the official update file can be downloaded and can even be flashed but it checks nearly every file in the system/app folder to make sure that it is the original file. If you've modified anything in there, the update is going to fail.
I'm going to post a few links of stuff you should read, but there is definitely a lot more that you should be reading.
How to flash stock MF3 - this is most likely the firmware you are on, but this thread will tell you how to get it back to stock, the way it was when you took it out of the box. This should allow you to take the official 4.3 update if other methods don't work.
MF1 Pre-release (4.2.2) - this is a pre-release of 4.2.2, you should read this.
MI2 Pre-release (4.3) - this is a pre-release of 4.3, read this thread to understand the benefits and drawbacks of flashing this pre-release firmware.
Official 4.3 Update Thread - this tell you what you need to do to try to update your phone to the official version of 4.3. Currently there is to way to root the official 4.3.
SafeStrap Thread - this will allow you to flash TouchWiz 4.2.2 based ROMs on your phone. Again, you need to read before you do anything. There's actually a lot we can do even though our bootloader is locked.
I can't stress enough how important it is to read. Once you've read everything and you think you understand what you're doing, READ MORE. There's always somebody who's done what you're trying to do and someone has more than likely given the answers you're looking for. Read as much as you can and you can avoid bricking your phone and ending up with a paperweight.
Good luck and us know if you have any questions, everybody is here to help.
You mentioned something I had forgotten, I did install app quarantine so I could remove the samsung and att apps from my drawer. So i went back and installed active root and app quarantine and unlocked the apps. But it seems I must have also deleted /system/apps/wssyncmldm.apk and .../KNOXAgent.apk. I can't believe that I deleted them instead of renaming them like I normally would, but it seems that's what I did.
So I'm hoping that some of you can copy these files to a google drive or something so i can reinstall them. pretty please?
If all else fails, i have insurance so my phone might get broken in a fall while doing some dangerous house work tomorrow.

NO MORE SUPPORT.....GAME OVER
Did you delete your data, system, safestrap is gone, only download mode and stock recovery are available? Do you want to start fresh and out of the box new?
(( FOR s 5 ACTIVE )) NE4Thanks to @ted77usa & @Intub8 for the help. SAM MOBILE for the Firmware and steps. KNOX was not tripped. Nothing was after this. It worked perfectly.
Just FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS
Do this at your own risk. If you don't read and mess up your phone, its not my fault . As long as you can get into download mode, this will help out a lot. I am not responsible for what you do to your device.
Odin Back to s5 Active Stock. NE4
Make sure you have the Samsung drivers installed before starting.
Samsung USB drivers
Make sure USB debugging is checked under settings/developer options. If you don't know how to do that, go to "about device" in settings, and click on "Build Number x5 till you unlock Developer options".
Extract (unzip) the firmware file (NE4) HERE
Download Odin v3.09 HERE
Extract Odin zip-file
Open Odin v3.09
Reboot phone in Download Mode (press and hold Home + Power + Volume Down buttons)
Connect phone and wait until you get a blue sign in Odin
Add the firmware file to AP / PDA
Make sure re-partition is NOT ticked
Click the start button, sit back and wait a few minutes
Note : Some users are getting stuck at long At&t screen, once odin finishes and you happen to get stuck, reboot to stock recovery and factory reset your phone.
It should boot up just fine after that. The At&t screen sometimes takes a while.
You can do this below if you want. I have done this about 5 or 6 times. #6 and 7 happens sometimes.
I wanted to be totally fresh and wanted to use "Wipe Data (YES)" in safestrap. Here is what I did and what happened.
My phone has been really good since this and all is smooth.
Things to do to be fresh and start all the way over out of box style:
1. Make sure you have done a back up, and your ready to restore with Odin.
2. Go into Safestrap
3. Go to WIPE tab > Factory reset
4. Advanced wipe, (Wipe > Dalvik Cache, "NOT Micro SDcard"> Data, Cache, System)
5. For really starting over > next to Advanced wipe is "Format Data" do that and type YES
6. This will get rid of safestrap and everything so you will get a black screen once it deletes all.
7. Try to catch it and go into download mode before it boots to the Samsung screen (Which it will stay there FOREVER)
(As soon as your phone does this, try to catch it before the samsung screen and go into download mode. When it turns black, quickly hold Power + Volume down + home button. )
8. While in download mode, flash the restore firmware.
9. Let it do its thing and you will be factory new.
10. After it all settles down and you are back up and running, you can start like I do.
(Root with V3 (Make it Rain), Install and update SU, Reboot 3 times lol, install busybox, install safestrap, install xposed, reboot, install your modules, reboot, power down and boot back but go into safestrap and wipe dalvik cache and regular cache. Reboot. lol- Install all your apps you like or have your backups from titanium on your sd card and restore) Reboot and go into safestrap again and fix permissions and reboot lol...... BAM. (Your phone should be sick and you should throw up on it)

I have ran NCE NE4, you must not know whats going on here. That what this thread is for. Restoring your phone to factory defaults. I have done it for the Active and if someone did it on their regular s 5 than I want to know.

Its all good. I'm glad I made you laugh too. Really. I'm just messing with ya a little....This thread is for Active users. Like I said, if this can work for the regular S 5, then I will update the OP for S5/S5 Actives only. Thats all. I was on NCE (A regular S 5 ROM) when I did this and it worked perfectly.

10-4.....It really helped me when I screwed up. This worked 100% for me. I have flashed over 5 different ROMS from T-Mobile, International, as well as At&t ROMs we have. Sometimes its better to start all the way over fresh. Sometimes we get into a pickle and need to start over. This will help us.....Thanks !!!!
Continued thanks for being our official S5 Active tester. I'm glad to hear you got it back to running and that you were able to find the firmware for our G870A. This will come in handy when I get my phone past the point of no return, it usually takes me a month or so but I'll get there.
Please keep us informed as your tests, trials and discoveries continue!

No problem. Looking at a GPS issue now. Something has screwed it all up. Probably a module or two (exposed) Almost tempted to restore again and test before each install.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G870A using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
If you go back to stock and the GPS still doesn't initiate let me know. There was a way to hard reset the GPS that I came across on the gs3 that may work. Every time I flash a rom if it's acting goofy I wipe everything and go back to 100% stock. Sometimes things get stuck and left behind that can muck things up. Think of it like a colon clense for your phone. Glad the Odin worked for you.

Yes, Please share if you don't mind. I broke the GPS lol. I don't believe flashing this official firmware did it though, I think flashing different ROM's did it but who am I......I found a GPS fix I used for my Note 3 (Kit Kat) You have to flash it in recovery. Is that how yours is? Here is the file for you to check out if you want to. I haven't flashed it yet though. >>>> Deleted Link ....That didnt work. Got random reboots.

Found it after about an hour of looking , You must Odin back to a stock ROM first.
((((2. Enter into dialer *2767*3855# (Will do a HARD reset, no internal storage will be lost except the usual data)
3. Boot up again and run... )))
keep in mind this was the method to fix the gps on the note 2 and it may or may not still be a good dialer code for your s5.

And @Caliesv I would ask you Why Not? The whole point of unlocking/rooting/building custom ROMs is because WE CAN, and how better to learn what we can and can't do then by trying? Just because a device has its own firmware has absolutely no bearing on what ROM you flash, granted as the default firmware it likely wont flash do to a signature mismatch but as a custom ROM why not?
I might just build one for the Heck of it.
GPS is a problem still. About to re-flash the restore and see what happens without root. Will report back.
It seems that I may have flashed one to many times or something else is playing up. Anywho, I came to check my phone this morning and everything was working fine. Checked the battery status and I thought it was time for a top-up . I decide to do it via USB via my computer and that's when things started to go south. I came back to check my phone and...nothing. I done a hard restart and at first everything seemed fine only to get a continuous boot-loop. I tried to enter TWRP and it hangs on the "teamwin" logo. Then I decided to flash stock via Odin and I still get the same boot-loop. I can still access downloader but that's it.
For reference the version of TWRP I was running was 2.8.6.1 (flashed back to 2.8 Nova version) and the ROM I was running was the latest version of Ressurection Remix by Maclaw.
So, I'm open to any suggestions. Any help would be much appreciated and paid forward.
Thanks for hearing me out.
So going by the lack of feedback I'm basically screwed?
Oh for ****s sake come on! I've had this up for 3 days on this site full of so called enthusiasts and "professionals" and not one response? I'm sorely disappointed.
So there is honestly no one that can help me with this?
Pathetic...
Come on there must be someone that can help me with this, otherwise I'll have to risk buying a broken one for parts.
Haven't done any custom stuff in a while but the boot loop sounds familiar, have you wiped the dalvik cache in the advanced menu also have you tried a factory reset?
---------- Post added at 12:35 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:30 PM ----------
Use the Volume keys in order to navigate through the recovery menu.
Select “advanced” and choose “wipe dalvik cache”.
Return to main menu.
Then select “wipe data factory reset”.
Return and this time choose “wipe cache partition”.
Return and select “reboot system now”.
Your handset should start in Android OS now.

Thanks for the feedback but as I have already stated I can't access any recovery only Odin, and desktop Odin won't allow me to re-partition only write. Still, whether it be stock or a custom ROM it is the same result: bootloop and recovery freezes on splash screen.
So any other takers? Yes? No?
Why even have a "help & troubleshooting" section if, well, I don't know, no one helps!!!
Dude you're puerile attitude is baffling, I understand you desperately want help, but do you really think you'll get it if you keep throwing toys out of your pram?
The problem you've described suggests that you're phone is 'fixable' however, it may take a few different methods to restore it. Ok, so you cannot access recovery mode, therefore you're unable to clear your phone like TheMadTurnip suggested, and you're also unable to access any backup you might have made. The downloader works so I can only recommend you try to investigate what's going wrong when you flash via Odin, does the flash show as pass or fail? Have you tried flashing using a different cable or computer, heck have you even tried using another version of Odin? Is Kies installed on your computer, if so then remove it. Have you flashed using a PIT file as well as the stock firmware? Elaborate on your situation so tailored advice can be given to you.
Kind Regards,
Pinda

I have tried flashing using the original cable the phone came with; so I have tried 2. I even tried other USB ports. And yes I have tried another version of Odin.
Flashing doesn't seem to be a problem at the moment, just everything else.

As it stands it's about ruling things out to pinpoint what's going wrong, I'm no expert, merely a trial and error kind of guy. Anyway, yes, I would suggest uninstalling Kies and try the flash again, although if Odin is flashing successfully then this might not be the issue, but it's worth a shot. When I resolved my bootloop, using a PIT file was one of the things I did, so perhaps that's something you might want to look into. Also, make sure your firmware downloads are clean, basically make sure they download smoothly and aren't disturbed by a network disconnection etc. Could you post links to where you downloaded your stock firmware?

I got my firmware from sammobile.com, right down to my network provider. I've flashed it before and never had any problems. I'm just trying to figure out why my phone self-bricked. I was on latest "Resurrection Remix" when it happened.
Where can I find this "PIT" file and how do I use it? I notice an option in Odin so I can probably figure that part out. At the moment my knowledge is limited to rooting, flashing custom recoveries and ROMs. Sorry.

Ahh ok, yes my knowledge is also limited in that respect. I guess it's all about learning and helping each other out, which is where I guess it can be frustrating when there's a lack of 'available' support in these forums. Nevertheless, I must stop droning on, I used a PIT file for my S variant after noticing numerous users mentioning the significance of it when using Odin to flash. Here's an interesting thread to find out more (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=999097). It's a sort of map if you like, which inadvertently tells the software where everything has to go on the handset, that's my noob interpretation of it anyway. I found the relevant PIT file for my variant on a XDA thread, so it might be worth scurrying through archived threads to see if you can find one for your phone, make sure there's legit feedback for it though. You just flash it with the firmware like you normally would.
Remember, I'm no expert, I'm just going by how I fixed my phone over the weekend. I apologise my attempts to help are meager, I'm still relatively new to all this, just like you.

I don't know what else to suggest at the moment, the fact that you cannot get into recovery makes it that much harder.
I'll come back to you if something comes to mind.
EDIT- Have you tried re flashing a custom recovery to overwrite your current one? If you can somehow get into recovery you could trying clearing your phone of cache and installing a ROM zip-folder. Also, have you got another battery you can try in your handset? I cannot help you with the Odin method no because you've pretty much exhausted all the possible solutions that I know of, perhaps screenshot the Odin log and post it on here for more info.
My s3 mini also got same problem.any solution found
Coming from an iPhone I'm used to connecting the phone to iTunes via USB, downloading a fresh version of the OS and restoring the phone. Then I have the option of setting up as new or restoring a backup.
I would like to know if there's a way to do something like that with my Note 8. I realize I can reset everything from within the settings app but I would like to wipe it clean and install a fresh copy of Nougat 7.1.1.
Is this possible? Also just in case it comes up I'm not interested in rooting at this point in time.
Thanks!!

Pretty sure there is a ton of posts on here discussing Odin and what it is used for, as well if you look under guides I have posted the stock firmware and links to odin.
Go here for that stuff: https://forum.xda-developers.com/sp...stock-restore-odin-recovery-software-t3668888
Basics : Odin is like ITunes , you select the firmware to install to the device and push it to phone, it wipes phone and installs the software selected.
There are only a few limitations of ODIN, that being that if the firmware is set to Anti-Rollback you can not go back to any version older then the 1st revision of that rollback version.
Example : N950USQU1AQI5 This is the latest version for sprint currently there are 3 parts of this explained below.
The QI5 is the version identifier.
N950U is the variant the software is designed to be used with.
The number 5 spots from the end determines the bootloader revison and will be the Anti-rollback version. All versions matching that number can be flashed without bias, so any version labeled ( 1 ) can be flashed to the note.
Now hypothetically if this was the software that comes next: N950USQU2AQL9
Once you were to install this version you could NEVER flash anything lower then ( 2 ) to the device, the bootloader on the phone will refuse it and tell you the version is older and will not install.
Thank you for the detailed reply. Your right in that I've seen a lot about Odin. What I'm somewhat concerned about is that whatever I've managed to find and read about doing this is that it will void the warranty? Is this accurate or am I misunderstood something?
Also, the reason I wanted to do this is because something screwed things up after I moved apps to the SD card. And yes I moved them using the built-in settings app. So obviously I was only able to move apps that the OS allowed me to. Basically even though it showed that the apps were on the external storage they just disappeared. If I tried to reinstall Google Play would immediately crash.
So my thought was that if I did a clean install it would wipe out any crud that might be left behind by doing a hard reset built into the phone. Am I completely wrong about this or is it possible some stuff might be left behind?
Thanks again for taking the time to post your reply.

Odin does NOT effect the warranty bit, even with the new root method the Knox warranty status does not get effected.
I actually had mine rooted, some pixels in my screen were messed up ( not related to root ) used ODIN to go back to stock and sent it in to Samsung for a warranty repair and it was approved, fixed and sent back for free so no fret.
The warranty status shows up when you put your phone into Download mode ( Holding Bixby + Volume Down and power button together during a boot up ) It shows warranty bit 00x00
If it were to effect it the status would go to 00X01 and so on as you continue to modify things. The status only changes if the phone is compromised with custom boot files witch we do not have access to due to having the bootloader locked.
This is a routine process to recover the phone if it wouldn't boot,
furthermore you can essentially do the same procedure using Samsung smart switch on desktop, but i'm not fluent with using it as ODIN is a better method and more robust and less dumb ware.
as for moving apps to sd, you could also try deleting them off the sd, or possible that the sd card is messing up and not fast enough for the device to read and run those apps so if you redo and it happens again id avoid putting them on sd if you can.
hope this helps. No fret on using odin, just take your time and pay attention to the options you use. Do not confuse NAND ERASE ALL ( that is the same has a hard reset) with ERASE EFS ( this deletes the serial number and should never be done! )
Again, thank you so much for the detailed reply. Just one more thing. Can you please supply me a link to the correct stock ROM. I apologise for all the noob questions but it's been more than 7 years since I've messed with Android. Some of the links I found took me to download did where I had to pay or else the fire was too big for free.
I believe this is the exact one I need for my Sprint Note 8
N950USQU1AQI5. This is what I have on my phone now.
As for the SD card issue there were just a few apps I found. The others just seemed to disappear. In any case I bought a new 256GB U3 card by Samsung so there should be no questions now on whether it's too slow or bad. I moved a couple apps and so far so good.
Thanks again and best regards!!

The 1st link I sent you at top is the link to find most current firmware for the Sprint note 8. QI5 is the latest as of today. The one you posted is the correct one. The post also has Odin available to dl as well.
But here is the direct link to QI5: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=745849072291677290
Pretty much with Odin
Take the firmware zip and unzip it.
Then put phone into dl mode as explained above holding power, volm down and bixby. Once on green screen click up to start dl mode and it's ready.
Side note:
That key combo is also soft reset. Holding vol up instead would bring you to recovery where you can do a full hard reset as well. If you accidentaly get into dl mode trying to soft reset because phone got frozen just soft reset out of it and you'll be back to booting up as normal.
Plug phone in and open Odin.
Odin should show the phone and it's com port once driver on pc have installed.
Click each box ( bl, ap, cp, csc) and select the matching files.
The csc you'll use is the one with OYN in it's name.
Under options have f.reset time.. auto reboot and nand erase all checked. Nothing else. Again I say nand erase all.. remember what I said about the efs one and never checking it....
Once each loads up.. ( ap will take forever it will act like it has gotten stuck and may show it's not responding ) this is normal just wait it out as it's a huge package being loaded...
Click start and drink a coffee..
Once done, it will auto reboot, wipe and then boot up
Re setup and test. Just be aware all data on device will be gone.
Otherwise you will be good to go!
I added to generic photos of what it looks like when phone is connected and com port is showing up. As well what options are to be selected. I put a big pointing finger to the correct erase all option as well lol
Thank you for all the detailed replies!!! You rock dude. Things are slowly coming back to me. The EVO 4G was the last Android phone I had before jumping to iPhone. I used to install different ROMs almost weekly and tried all sorts of stuff back then. Had no fear
I guess after being away for so long it just takes time and reading through all the different threads.
Thanks again!!!

Okay so I was all set to do this but when I unzipped the firmware.zip and there are more files in there that I'm not sure what to do with.
First there are 2 CSC files and both have OYN in the name.
First one is : CSC_OYN_N950UOYN1AQI5_CL12173876_QB14907525_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar
Second is: HOME_CSC_OYN_N950UOYN1AQI5_CL12173876_QB14907525_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar
There's also a file called USERDATA_SPR_N950USQU1AQI5_CL12173876_QB14907525_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar
Is there anything I need to do with this particular file?
Also all the files are xxx.tar.MD5. Am I right in guessing that Odin with verify the MD5 checksum?
Thanks again!!!

Second is: HOME_CSC_OYN_N950UOYN1AQI5_CL12173876_QB14907525_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar
There's also a file called USERDATA_SPR_N950USQU1AQI5_CL12173876_QB14907525_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar
Is there anything I need to do with this particular file?
Also all the files are xxx.tar.MD5. Am I right in guessing that Odin with verify the MD5 checksum?
Thanks again!!!

use the CSY OYN, i touched this in a earlier response, and dont worry about the user data one and yes they are verified by md5 before a push occurs, this can be turned off in odin if you wanted and skip md5 verification.

Once again...thank you!!!
If you don't mind I have a question about restoring from backup. If I backup to Samsung cloud then it will restore the apps that I currently have installed, is that correct?
If I backup to Google and then restore from Google backup it will only restore data and if I install an app that I had prior to the wipe/restore it will then restore the data for that particular app. Is that correct?
Also is it possible to choose which apps to restore if I restore from Samsung backup?
Thanks again!!
