[Q] Please some Clarification

Im interested in purchasing the galaxy gear and pair it to the nexus 5, the information in this forums is great however I wanted to know some stuff before purchasing. After rooting both the gear and the nexus, what functionality I loose with the gear ? Will notifications work ? Also would i be able to have weather info ? receive sms/emails/whattsapp notifications ect.. make calls. Sorry for the noob question.

[Q] Apps on stock Gear?

I'm interested in app developement for stock Galaxy Gear 1. However, I searched for SDKs and there were only tools for Gear with Tizen.
My question is: is there any mechanism similar to Sony SmartWatch 2 for creating and installing apps? The only thing I found is that I need to root my watch, and/or instal Tizen or somehow sideload apps. Is that really the only way of creating (installing) apps?

The gear 1 was released with android, and now it's been updated to Tizen. So the Tizen sdk is what you're looking for. Any app development for the gear 1 on android would be outdated.
When the gear 1 was on android, wondershare was a great way of uploading apps and moving files. Now that it's on Tizen, sideloading is the easiest because wondershare doesn't work with Tizen.

So, if I understand you properly - Gear 1 is now working on Tizen, therefore all app development is quite the same as on Gear 2, right? Everything on developer.samsung.com/samsung-gear (sorry for not posting a proper link, I'm new ad XDA) applies also to Gear 1?
This is important to me, because in my job there is an idea to start creating apps on wearables, right now I'm doing something on SmartWatch 2, and we are planning to test other platforms. For some reason we have Samsung Gear 1 so I need to know if I should start a new project with it, or is it pointless. (getting newer versions is an option, but ordering them takes a lot of time...)

Yes gear 1 runs on Tizen. If you check sammobile.com it's reffered to as Android 2.2.1.1 Therefore building for gear 1 will be just like building for gear 2! I'm sure there's minor tweeks needed across the two. You can refer to the Tizen sdk for more info.
There's also "android "wear", and it's new "android studio beta". Which will be the new overall android ide. There's 3 devices to build for on this android wear sdk. The Gear live, the Moto 360, and the G Watch. But this android studio might be the band wagon everyone wants to jump on!

Gear s interface on gear 1

Will the new tizen interface seen on the gear s come to the gear 1?

I want this! If we don't get it as an update, hopefully we can get it ported, I could care less about Android Wear because it lacks calling and camera.

yea im sticking with my gear 1. to be honest i dont even use the cam but i still like having the option compared to not having it. the gear s looks really good but without the cam i will pass lol

I have the Gear 1 and Gear Fit, although the heart rate monitor is nice, the sheer fact that it lacks the phone functionality and ability to install keyboard to start texting... gonna stick with the 1 as my daily driver. Its a great smartwatch.

Tizen updated version Galaxy Gear Sm-V700 of the Galaxy Note 4 with full compatibility ???

I'm wondering about this too. I hope stock Android Galaxy Gear will work with old version of Galaxy Manager on Note 4... but I do not think so - Gear VR will require an update of the whole framework I guess..

Do not test other friends ?
It's just really important to me .
Can connect with Android 's firmware ?

Stock gear 1 (tizen) with stock note 4 works without problem as other devices, sometimes gear act weird and battery drain for it self and note 4 but that even happened with note 2.
And whats up with friend's friend !!!!!!

Hi all
I have the Note 2 working really well with the SM-V700 gear watch on tizen, the only prob so far I can't find a Lollipop version to work with these two devices, I am running the DN4 v2.1 on the note 2, you need a third party samsungs app installed to allow you to download the gear manager.
Hope this helps at least one person

I have a note 4 N910C and gear SM-700V both work great together and sync very well with gear manager
but now I was trying update to tizen and now my gear is bricked

So you can use gear with dn4 v2.1 without no problem? I have same issue too.

I have samsung galaxy j5 and try to bought gear 2 neo.
And here is my question. Is any way to connect with gear 2 ? i think my J5 from 2015y is non compatibility with g2.. any root? another rom? help.
