[Q] Cannot update to sense 6 (HTC One m7) - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am not able to install the official HTC sense 6 update on my m7. It downloads fine and gets checked. When I press "install now" it reboots into recovery , then an error occurs. TWRP makes this log :

the same when I try to manually find and install the OTA in recovery. The phone is stock, rooted, s-off, cid 11111111. the only thing I tried to mess with was changing the system file wpa_supplicant with a different version from CM11 (in order to allow the phone to recognize ad-hoc wlan), but that seems to be irrelevant, because at the time I didn't know that you have to be S-OFF so that any of the changes in root stay permanent....
So the phone basically is all stock if i'm not mistaken???

I have no idea why it won't update.
Again: I received the update even before I had S-OFF and CID11111111 . It won't install even after changing those.
I'm clearly at loss here... I want the stock update to also update the firmware not only for the ROM.
pls give me a hint , I'm a total noob
F***KIN HELL, WHERE THE HECK WAS I SUPPOSED TO KNOW I NEEDED A STOCK RECOVERY .....WHY HASNT ANYONE MENTION IT AT ALL.....just found it on after reading 40+ pages of the UPDATES thread ....a random page 719.... BRILLIANT

As far as I know, you need stock recovery (and maybe a locked bootloader too) to install a OEM OTA update.

cool so I flashed the stock recovery and the update started ...... and it's now stuck on a red triangle with an exclamation mark in the middle....I\m screwed right

Did the progress bar actually moved? If not, hold the power button and device will forcefully restart

yes it moved for a while ...and then changed to the triangle around halfway through.....restarted ....everything is the same sense v 5.5 , stock recovery

So there is an error, you have to try to get the OTA applying again adn see the error on the recovery. If you don't see anything, try playing with the volume buttons till something show up on the recovery screen.

No..

ok.. stock recovery says
mount SDCARD failed 1 times, 2, 3,4, 5, times
can not mount SD card (no such device)
write host_mode:0 done
...strange, if I understand right what it is.... when I restart and boot system everything seems normal...
.....
maybe because i restarted to recovery midway through boot up .... trying again....
ok disregard the above.. you man prob. got it right I'm impressed it actually says right after update fails:

sdcard is actually /data/media/
I will suggest using a es file explorer, and create that folder under /data/ ... You may need the device rooted for that..

I'll just try placing them in device/data/preload ....
. I haven't made any nandroid backups and I couldn't really find the preloaded apks for 4.19.401.11
Closest thing I found is 4.19.401.5 preload.....
no idea what will happen .
coming from samsung to htc things are complicated as hell. and there aren't clear and consistent guides what to do ....
IT WORKED !!.... now to make a proper backup and put the custom recovery and unlock and remove all the bloat ware

Error 7 when flashing ICS leak?

I'm posting here because I don't have 10 posts to post in the thread...
I'm following the directions here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1701313
I did the .615 fastboot files, they worked fine, but when I try to flash the ICS leak I get this:
assert failed: file_getprop("/system/build.prop". "ro.build.fingerprint") == "verizon/maserati_vzw/cdma_maserati:2.3.6/6.5.1_167_DR4-1_M1-219/4:user/release-keys" || file_getprop("/system/build.prop". "ro.build.fingerprint") == "verizon/maserati_vzw/cdma_maserati:4.0.4/6.7.2-180_DR4-16_M2-33/41:user/release-keys"
E:Error in /tmp/sideload/package.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.
Please help... Thanks.
edit-
I re-wiped data and cache to see if that helped.
Now I get this error.
assert failed: mount("ext3". "MTD". "system". "/system")
E:Error in /tmp/sideload/package.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.
Bump. Please help.
Does your system currently boot?
Edit: And I'm not sure what .615 is, but you want to be running 219 before flashing the leak.

I have absolutely no idea why I said .615
I'm on .219, and yes it currently boots.
Try Factory wipe, Fast boot to 219, Root, Install OTA Root Keeper, Update the SU binary, Protect then temp unroot and restore, then try the latest ICS Leak. That's what I did. If you have safe strap, you can advance restore your data, or at least that's what I did and it worked perfectly.

edit-
One of the guys from an IRC channel I stay in seems to think root is affecting it. I don't think so, but I'm gonna try doing it without root this time...
edit-
That didn't work either.
After looking more closely at the error code I posted, I've realized I simply cannot read posts correctly.
I flashed to 215, not 219...
I have the same issue
there is no 615?
ive had the same issue before. 3 things i can offer to try:
1. verify you are using the correct kernel with the correct ics update
2. verify the zip file is NOT DOUBLE ZIPPED, if it is, you need to extract it and recopy to your sd card.
3. backup your sd card and delete everything off it. Then copy only the ics update zip to the sd card and try again
Another thing to note is that 4.0.4 is actually quite easy to root. I simply flashed back to 215 and updated to 219 (all without even signing in to Google), and then updated straight to the 213 leak. It was like getting a new phone with 4.0.4. Prompted me to log in to my Google account, activate, and so on, and worked flawlessly. Then, I rooted, installed FoxFi, and went on happily with my life.
This was posted in the evo3d section thought it might help.

META-INF/com/google/android/
and extract "updater-script" to your desktop. Be sure it's not extracted as .TXT and DO NOT OPEN IT WITH NOTEPAD
2. Download Notepad++ (google it, it's free) and open up the "updater-script" from the desktop.
Comment out the lines, by putting # in front of them:
Quote:

# "HTC__016") == "t");
3. then go to File=>Saves As=>Name: updater-scipt Type: All types (*.*)
Now go back to your "META-INF/com/google/android/" in the 7zip and delete the existing "updater-script", and the put inside the new one from the desktop
4. push the zip to your SD card now and install it from 4ext recovery (and don't forget to install firmware as described in the first post)
***NOTE: be sure to use 7zip and Notepad++ because they don't seem to corrupt the files by manipulating with them as classical Notepad does***

[HELP] HTC One M7 - Decrypt System Storage - S-On - Locked - Two CIDs - Driver Probs

Hi,
I got a HTC One M7 from a friend who says he got it with the information that a factory reset went wrong. Since my own phone is over ten years old I thought why not give it a try.
First I installed 15 seconds ADB with drivers.
The One M7 boots to Enter Passwort to decrypt system storage. There I can activate developer mode and therefore USB debugging und developer Options. If I connect it to my Computer it failes to install MTP-USB drivers and does not recognice the phone properly just as an Android Phone and does not install any drivers.
In Bootloader under Fastboot my Computer recognizes the phone as Android 1.0 and also installs no drivers. So my first question would be is there a way to install the correct drivers manually?
Since I can not connect the phone and use fastbot here are some Informations I pulled from the Bootloader and Recovery (Logs):
Bootloader:

There are two different CIDs the main one ist the WWE and the second one is the German One. As far as I know ther should only be one but correct me if I am mistaken. And also the Data Partition seems to be corrupted. Is there any way to get this phone going again?
Thanks.

The only way to remove decryption is with a factory reset (must be done with the stock recovery not with a custom recovery).
You can download the correct drivers here http://htcusbdriver.com/download/htc-usb-driver-v4-17-0-001
Thanks for the drivers link I´ll try them out. As for the factory reset as far as I know this is what caused the problem in the first place so are you sure another factory reset will rectify that? Most threads I´ve read so far suggest reflashing RUU through fastboot. But when it comes to mobile phones I am a complete noob so I am not sure and thats why I started this thread.

Trying another factory reset won't hurt. And yes if that changes nothings, you should try a RUU. Look in my signature for the link to the ruu collection thread. You need to use the 7.19.401.51 version.

Just tried wipe data/factory reset under Recovery it shows the following error:
-- Wiping data...
Backup necessary files in data partition
E:failed to mount /data (Invalid argument).. try emmc mount
Formatting /cache...
Data wipe complete
I gues I try flashing RUU now.
I just flashed RUU. After a few Minutes it aborted with Failed! Too many Links and i thought Nooooo. After a little light reading and a lot of swetting I tried another USB Port and a cable with a ferrit core and this time it worked. One M7 did boot I can get into the OS it shows all 32GB of space in OS but when I boot into recover mode. It says failed to mount sd card. Does anyone know why? Did they forget to update the recovery mode in this RUU? Or did the previous owner maybe manipulate the partion (sizes)?

If you're talking about the yellow errors codes at the bottom of the screen when booting in the stock recovery:
Code:
Mount SDCARD failed 1(2/3/4/5) times
Can not mount SD Card.(No such device)
it's 100% normal and not a concern. Stock recovery is trying to mount a drive that doesn't exist on this phone model (the M7 isn't equipped with an sd card).

There is not much you can do if "fastboot oem rebootRUU" is shutting down your phone instead of rebooting it in ruu mode. Bootloader may be corrupted, might be caused by a bad emmc.

My HTC one (m7) won't update ,says 'installation aborted'

So i got an unlocked/sprint(I think!) version of HTC one m7 just recently and after checking everything out I figured it had some really retro and boring app display interface then I tried checking about phone only to discover It was using the old android 4.4.2 KitKat version so i tried checking for software updates and yes I found one that sized up to 325.18MB and I downloaded it after which i tried installing ,everything was going fine until it got to about ¼ way through the process loader in recovery where it jumped straight to another page that read.

So I tried again by rebooting system ,went to settings ,reset the phone to factory mode ,downloaded it again, repeated the process and just the same thing happened again after again because i tried doing it from the recovery where i applied from phone storage but its still the same thing and i really dont like the HTC version of android kitkat especially for its keyboard and input it has the worst emojis on earth even when i downloaded a new keyboard from play store It didn't change whatever retrostyled emoji was on the typing space!
Please help!!!!!!!

Posted from my former device Itel it1408 that's definitely got a better software if not for the RAM

Someone modded files in /system that's why the ota won't install.
A factory reset only wipes contents from /data/media/0. It doesn't fix or restore /system to factory.
Your best option are to flash a RUU or a custom Rom.
Would help to know your "fastboot getvar all" and also your bootloader status (locked, unlocked or relocked)

NOTE 8 sm n950f firmware error problems

i have a note 8 sm n950 i done the android update a few months ago and and it got my phone stuck in a boot loop, i installed new firmware which i was able to use the phone again but lost data signal, i fixed that but now my calls and text are coming through with a german number (im in the UK) i have tried to install stock firmware using odin and keep getting sw rev check fail device 11 binary 6 (and other variations of that error) i have also tried clearing the cache and wiping the phone from the boot menu but no luck, could anyone help, i would be very grateful
Have you check that you have downloaded and installed the correct version of the OS on your device?

The binary error you are getting is because you are trying to flash older filmware than what is already on the phone., this is not possible because of security updates. Downloading the latest filmware for you device should resolve this error, and then hopefully fix the other errors you face.

In post number 2 in the thread below, you can install "samfirm" on your Pc, this will give you the latest update to download, at a fast speed. For region (on samfirm) put your service provider, ie BTU or XEU for the UK.

sooooo.... it was working fine for a couple days then the phone froze with a glitched horizontal line on the screen, i rebooted the phone and thought nothing more of it. A day later did the same thing (different place in the screen this time) i have wiped the cache a few time times but it hasnt improved. It is also freezing on the samsung loading screen and or getting stuck in a boot loop, the phone does work normaly for short amounts of time (few hours or so) but keeps happening, i managed to copy this log from the recovery menu if any help
p.s this is simlar to the original problem i was having before i changed the firmware

This is beyond my knowledge. I would take a guess that you have some sort of hardware issue as flashing stock filmware usually resolves any software bug. Hopefully someone who has faced the same or someone more knowledgeable will be able to help you further.
HI Experts i am getting the same issue in my note 8 sm-n950f according to my knowledge i lost its efs and baseband partition by mistake and my phone now stuck on Galaxy Logo now the OEM System is locked by default i am not able to flash TWRP please Suggest me how can i recover pretty phone back in Normal Condition :crying:

As we have said many of times before, if you lost your EFS folder and you never made a backup of it then you're screwed and you'll need to send it to Samsung for repair because you can't use anyone else's EFS because the EFS holds your IMEI and the phones serial numbers and such. It's information that's never supposed to be removed or deleted.. However someone else said if you delete certain stuff in the EFS folder and then reflash it that it would work and I tried this method and it failed to work so I don't know any other way except sending it to Samsung repair facility.. It also requires root access which you obviously can't do since it's OEM is not unlocked so I really doubt there's anything you can do short of sending it to Samsung..
